A parent trusting a random old guy they barely know with their daughter's safety simply because they happen to be the same religion is the most accurate part of this movie.

This is one of the best college movies ever filmed at a megachurch. I'll have twenty Everclear shots in three minutes before I watch it the next time.
Apparently, 20 shots of Everclear would put your BAC above 3%.
Disclaimer: outside of this movie, I've never heard of Everclear, so I cannot personally verify this.
it's even better the movie was filmed in an old folk's home lol
This movie might actually appear coherent after those twenty Everclear shots.
Notice the lack of extras. Every scene consists of the actors and no one else.
I enjoyed seeing what this man imagines colleges are like.
So how did he know Stephanie had 20 shots in 3 minutes? He stood there, watched her "kill" herself, and did nothing?
That's one shot of Everclear every 9 seconds for 3 minutes. Ol' Steph was hard core.
To quote Forrest Valkai during his own video about this movie:
Forrest: "You see, Steph is in a drinking competition during which she drinks 20 shots of Everclear and drops dead. And that's not me trying to be funny with this scene. She didn't pass out, she didn't slowly succumb to alcohol poisoning, she drank her 20th shot and just died.... But don't worry, Mikaela prays and Steph is miraculously brought to life to tell everyone she saw hell."
Steph: Fire... I saw fire.
Forrest: "Or maybe it was a barbecue. She doesn't go into any more detail than that. Maybe she had a vision of food that wasn't mayonnaise and it freaked her out. These people don't seem to know what fun is, so it's hard to gauge what might have frightened her."
@@reubenmanzo2054 Forrest's video got more than four times as many views as this did.

You know what is most definitely typical of fundamentalists? (I'm talking Christian young Earth creationists):
Misrepresenting and/or lying about several fields of science. That crap just comes with the territory. After all, How could a person whose *beliefs* conflict so drastically with so much of science, possibly be honest when they try to argue against science? They certainly can't afford to be honest in that situation. Young Earth creationists *need* the universe and Earth to be 'young', they *need* biological evolution to be false, they *need* their global flood to have occurred, etc.
People who have no dogmatic attachments in life, who are not devoutly attached to some belief system or other, don't have that problem and don't need to lie about science.

Forrest did a 2 hour discussion one on one with the "Film maker". After a 2hr personal lesson in actual evolution from an actual biologist all "Gramps" could say was "I'm speechless". The video isposted on Forrest Valkia's channel. He gave gramps the footage ut I don't know if he hasthe courage to post it.
Forrest is generally a pretty honest guy. Perhaps Gramps doesn't feel posting his version would add anything?
Does evolution make any assumptions?
This is more entertaining and valuable as a comedy spectacle than it is as a serious film.
Nobody involved in this has ever been to college.

This is a prime example of a movie being so terrible that it's actually hilarious.
A retired computer programer, master chess player, super genius, basketball, tennis, and track star. Throw in a professor that wants him so bad. The delusional old man that has an elementary understanding of evolution ends up converting the whole school. This is a religious, creepy old man's wet dream.
My favorite part is when the girl just drops dead because these college students supposedly didn't know 20 shots of everclear in three minutes can be dangerous. Gold.
I like how they have to frontload that this guy is 'smart' so people don't look at him and think he's an immediate rube despite the fact he's a gigantic rube. Also, for a man who knows his limitations, check out his 'acting.' That proves Jesus is dead.
They have no idea about the dangers of alcohol because science teachers fill their heads with actual science instead of teaching them useful things like the dangers of high strength alcohol.
This is basically fantasy fulfillment for the director. He clearly hates his life and wants so bad for it to look more like this.

Gramps is a shockingly unlikable protagonist. He's rude, arrogant, snarky, and hostile to nearly everyone he meets. He shows up to a class with the express purpose of harassing the professor and interrupting student learning with his asinine half-baked rebuttals he thinks are so groundbreaking and clever despite being hilariously hypocritical. (So you shouldn't believe something just because it's in a textbook, but you *should* believe everything written in the Bible? Colleges telling you what to believe is bad, but Gramps telling you what to believe is good? Evolution causing biological processes to happen over the course of billions of years is laughable, but a cosmic being speaking them into existence isn't even up for debate?) He's always butting into people's lives and nagging and scolding them for not doing things exactly like he wants. He's absurdly obnoxious, and every conversation feels like a fantasy he wrote into the script where he gets to be the smartest person in the room at all times, he gets to win every argument, and everyone, even those mean old atheists, are forced to be impressed. It's laughable and embarrassing.
Frankly think it's hilarious that these movies are supposed to be "uplifting" or somehow a good reflection on Christian values, because if Christians are supposed to act like Gramps does, I can't imagine anyone wanting to be in the same room as them for any length of time.
If you're already a Y.E.C. this movie is for you. If you are someone who cares about reality, then i would recommend, well anything else really

This movie is hilarious. All Gramps points about evolution are not only laughable, but so incredibly easily disproven. I find it difficult to believe that it's even possible that a biology professor wouldn't be able to disprove his maniacal rants. This movie also has the WORST possible audio quality. Bits of dialogue are cut out weirdly and there's a distinctive lack of background noise, making it incredibly awkward to watch, except for the choir music that plays for about 5 seconds every now and again without warning then cuts off incredibly suddenly, the timing of it is completely random and unfitting.
Pastor Ty, I need advice. I decided not to go to college bc I didn’t want to be brainwashed. But the factory I worked at was closed and reopened with AI and cheaper laborers in Mexico. Is there a way I can send food stamps to my church so my pastor won’t stop praying for me? Maybe I’ll stop supporting my daughter to afford tithing. Like the the Christian father you portray in this inspirational film. That choice wasn’t a subconscious admission of your views on religious patriarchy was it?

I’m glad you found a movie and a film maker you like. If you’re interested in watching anything more than a strawman being torn down, though, I’d suggest watching the filmmaker’s debate with Forrest Valkai. As someone who used to believe in evolution and has understands the arguments on both sides well, I can tell you that Forrest is very respectful of his opponent’s religious beliefs while also providing criticism and rebuttals to his points. The whole thing is very well done

Gramps is a LEGEND

gramps died in in gramp's shoes but he came back for this movie. that doesn't make sense. smells like satanist witchcraft to me
So he out her jacket back on because he was worried that he would sexually assault her because her neck was exposed?
There was not suggestion of SA, especially when she was clearly wanting to seduce him. The replacing the jacket was meant to be a point, not a precursor to assault. Your comment proves the overall substance of the movie. You have framed your understanding of the scene according to the WOKE programming that so many are being conned by.
This particular scene confirms that *he's* the one with the problem.
@@user-lb8qx8yl8k Why? Because he doesn't want to have casual intercourse with her? Truly awful how women now see intimacy as just a recreational activity. This shows how degraded culture has made them regard their body. The woman is clearly behaving badly. She knows he is a devout Christian with moral values, yet she goes out of her way to corrupt them, and get one up on the whole God thing.
It is also unfortunate that woman are incapable of accepting any personal responsibility. In all instances, men are at fault. If he is asking her to behave more modestly the main reason is within the Christian paradigm. He wants her to discover more self-respect.
Women who dress immodestly are desperate to get a man, but they don't really understand how men are. Men are more visual than women and are naturally more sex*al. If women dress in an immodest way they are encouraging men to have relations with their bodies, but not to get to know them as people. Many women get very hurt because they don't realise that the man she has just used her immodesty to get into bed currently hates her, just as he hates himself for giving in to a woman he doesn't even like.
Sometimes, it takes a shock to bring about change. A woman dressing immodestly, and behaving in an aggressively sex*al way getting actually called on it. And the man walking away from her, instead of taking advantage of her low self-worth. The shock of encountering decency, ethically and personally, could bring her to a happier life.
It's not gramps fault that gramps can't control himself! I blame the liberal media
