When we moved into our little house in 53, it came with a new HiFi and record collection- Kiss Of Fire was one- this old Spanish Tango sung by Georgia Gibbs, was what as an 8 year old 'dancing' girl, from being upright, I would glide and swirl to, I was an Old Soul with the heart of a poet, which I express with 'pen put to paper,' daily.
Lyrics -copy and pasted- I touch your lips and all at once the sparks go flying Those devil lips that know so well the art of lying And though I see the danger, still the flame grows higher I know I must surrender to your kiss of fire Just like a torch, you set the soul within me burning I must go on, I'm on this road of no returning And though it burns me and it turns me into ashes My whole world crashes without your kiss of fire I can't resist you, what good is there in trying What good is there denying you're all that I desire Since first I kissed you my heart was yours completely If I'm a slave, then it's a slave I want to be Don't pity me, don't pity me Give me your lips, the lips you only let me borrow Love me tonight and let the devil take tomorrow I know that I must have your kiss although it dooms me Though it consumes me, your kiss of fire Since first I kissed you my heart was yours completely If I'm a slave, then it's a slave I want to be Don't pity me, don't pity me Give me your lips, the lips you only let me borrow Love me tonight and let the devil take tomorrow I know that I must have your kiss although it dooms me Though it consumes me Your kiss of fire

This is the one!!!! there is so many versions of this song but the music has to have this power and even more, just went to the concert and heart music version, wow so powerful and just great to find it here, thank you my friend, many hugs Zina
If you think that this is power .You must listen to the ONLY Spanish version sung by the powerful Connie Francis. I don't know if anyone has sung it in Spanish other than Connie. Go BESO DE FUEGO 1960.
heard this song last night on American Horror story Freak show, im a big lover of Bolero music. The origianl song is in spanis, besos de fuego performed by many singers before Georgia Gibbs. Love all versions of this song.
She performed this and Tweedle Dee on a PBS special in the early 80's. I don't remember the name of the show but she did a fabulous job. Her version is the best for both songs.

I love this song! It was popular in 1952. This song reminds me of Habanera from Carmen by Georges Bizet since both have the same beat. It's a tango beat. The tango must've spun off from the habanera.
Only a handful of people had TVs during the period of 1949-1954. Radio was still king and the music at time was probably the greatest of at any time before or after. For whatever reason, the music from that period seems to be erased from history. Georgia was one of the top 20 female singers of the time, the top ones being Patti Page, Joni James and Rosemary Clooney (yeah, his aunt). I suspect it would be a real revelation for those who hunt up the songs from that time.
I love this genre of music, it's calming yet intriguing.
It's called Pop, except retro
Its Argentinan tango thanks

As a kid, I heard this first run on AM radio. It still hasn't lost its appeal.
Indeed! As long as the Argentine tango is around, it will NEVER lose its appeal.

As a kid it was a new kind of music. As a man over 50, still great to hear. Love it so much.
I wanna learn how to sing specifically for this song.
I'm not in love with anyone I just LOVE this song.
Get an instrument and start singing, youll find yourself being decent before you know it

I touch your lips and all at once the sparks go flying
Those devil lips that know so well the art of lying
And though I see the danger, still the flame grows higher
I know I must surrender to your kiss of fire
Just like a torch, you set the soul within me burning

And though it burns me and it turns me into ashes
My whole world crashes without your kiss of fire
I can't resist you, what good is there in trying
What good is there denying you're all that I desire
Since first I kissed you my heart was yours completely
If I'm a slave, then it's a slave I want to be
Don't pity me, don't pity me
Give me your lips, the lips you only let me borrow
Love me tonight and let the devil take tomorrow
I know that I must have your kiss although it dooms me
Though it consumes me, your kiss of fire
Since first I kissed you my heart was yours completely
If I'm a slave, then it's a slave I want to be
