(IMO)Early 80's was the BEST Tejano music ever!VERY special.Mazz,La Mafia,Grupo Quemado,Romance',Ruben Cardona,Laura Canales,Los Laytons...Great time to listen to KIWW in the Rio Grande Valley.I was working as a cook at Amigos Del Valle(1982).(Like Meals on Wheels?)Grateful for this music.Im SO lucky.
I met Joe Carmona "Wajo" when he was playing with Freddie Martinez he played at my club in San Antonio Texas " The Grand Ballroom " when I first heard him sing I became and instant fan. Years went by and I was a DJ at Kcct Corpus Christi and he brought me is first song Te Vi Parte and I was blown away. Needles to say I was playing it on my show that afternoon. Later we were neighbors in the same barrio. I miss my friend and we in the onda really lost a Giant among Our Musicos. God Bless him
Thinking of you today Uncle Joe. I miss you so much and love you so much. Hearing your voice brings back wonderful memories and warms my heart. RIP Jose "Wajo" Carmona
Jay Perez version of this song is great but this the original is awesome!!!! Kick A guitar playing , harmonies and lead vocals. I did not know that Quemado existed till ten years ago, as I was too young in 82
amazing, reminds me of when i was a toddler....my dad would listen to this all the time....i remember meeting joe carmona at my fathers house as a teen, many years later......
Puros recuerdos David y Moses Cardona, Manuel Cedillo, El Sleepy Ybarra CALDWELL, IDAHO that's right!!! IMMA BRAGGING HERE, MORE TEJANO THAN TEJAS, MUSIC IS
I will never forget the first time I heard you all play...it was at The Island Club in Denver Harbor in Houston, Texas in the 1980's. Me and my friends could not believe how talented your band was and became instant fans. We would later follow you to El Social and other venues across town. Thank you for the memories.
Our bands, Quemado/Machismo played Arturo's party house on S.Zarzamora, brother Joe spent the night at my house. He was such a talented person. We smoked so much weed, miss him.
