- In stereo for the first time ever! Music by Richard Adler, lyrics by Jerry Ross, sung by Robert Shafer and Tab Hunter, orchestrations by Ray Heindorf. Ray Walston plays Mr. Applegate.
Love this song by this particular singer. Just beautiful.
I first saw The Damn Yankees when I was 6 or 7 years old and I remember getting goosebumps when I heard this song. I didn’t want it to end. It was a Million Dollar movie so I watched everyday until the end of the week. It still moves me, I love his voice, the musical arrangement and the lyrics! Thank you for uploading this quality video of one of my all time favorite songs!❤️
You're welcome - what did you think about watching it in stereo for the first time ever?
I used to watch Million Dollar movie every day too!
I was like you and watched this on Milliom Dollar Movie 7 times a week? I never really appreciated this song until I fell in love, got married and grew old with her. Now, I can’t get threw it without thinking of my wife and getting misty. Thanks for posting. Remember Mysterious Island?
Joy, I feel just as you do. It's such a sweet tender song and expresses the love between middle aged couples so well! Applegate didn't have a chance.
I came here after thv's IG update. This feels so good like something I wanted to listen for a long time. ♡
Same
yup me too...
Same here 😁

When they made great movies that touched the heart
Just love this song. Such emotion! 3:00
I sang this solo in my 8th grade musical and it's one of my favorite memories, I still know all the words almost 20 years later. Such a joy
This is a very moving sentiment that in this opinion provides the very basis of this successful Broadway/Motion Picture in "Damn Yankees" I rather love this scene when Joe Boyd kisses Meg Boyd while she sleeps. It is very sentimental, like I said I really love this scene and as I stated earlier, I believe it is a binding sentiment, truly lovely.
Taehyung ig. what a masterpiece
Yeah.... ❤❤❤
This was the first play I was ever in. It was at Memorial Junior High in Fair Lawn, NJ in the early 70s; it ignited in me a life-long live of theatre.
Always loved this movie since I was kid.
Beautiful song - impeccable performance.
I think of saying goodbye to my old girl Cocker when she got sick, I tear up
I'm 68
Saw Damn Yankee's At
8 ...
Still Makes Me Cry Today
Saw this on Broadway with Bebe Neuwirth (Lilith from Cheers and Frasier).
What a sweet wistful song.

Hi mister Kim Taehyung💜🐻
Wrong song 🤣
The musicals of yesterday were such a joy.
Thanks V♥️
Next to you got to have heart, those were the good old days, and two lost souls this is my favorite song from the entire musical.
I have requested this movie to be played on TCM several times and it never happened. This along with all the other songs in the movie were outstanding. I loved them all as a young boy. Now at 71 and 45 plus years to the same woman, I can relate much more sentimentally with one major difference. No way in hell, excuse me Ray, would I just up and out for something so trivial. A life of one of our children certainly, nothing lesser.
Thank you Broadway Classics for bringing this to so many who truly missed it. I only tried youtube because I mentioned the movie over dinner to my wife who has never seen it. Knowing I'm at youtube often, she suggested I try. Brings back so many joys of the great classics.
J. Morrison; I feel exactly the same. We are both lucky to find that special girl. P.S. this movie is very hard to find. I have seen it on eBay but well over $100.00.
@@m655john From what I can discern, it has something to do with certain rights.
It’s on Tubi
Yes yes taehyung 🤭💜
Same I'm here by Taehyung too
Brought tears to my eyes my entire life.
The Damn Yankees..
A GREAT MOVIE!
Tay tay💜
This always makes me cry.
Beautiful song. He loves her so much
Still warms me when I see this scene. Thanks for posting!!!
I told my wife..."I'd do it" she replied "you wouldn't last a week." After 45 years a gal gets to know you better than you know yourself. 🤣❤
Who came here because of taehyung?
Tae❤❤❤❤❤❤
Coming after v's ig story.
Really nice
I came from Wevers 😭🦋
Can someone explain why he is saying good bye to his girl in the song❤❤❤❤. Btw song is soo good to listen ❤
You saw that he was transformed at the end? He's leaving to become a baseball star.
We did this play in school
Taehyung 🤎🤎🤎
Aww. 😢
It is such a shame that the creator of Pajama Game and Damned Yankees never got to create any other shows, due to an early death. The shows were light, tunefull and topically funny. Sorry I can't remember the genius man's name here.
He loves his wife
And keeps on loving her when he's young, handsome and rich...
who came here after v's reply in weverse ;)
Maybe lm late...
Put on your thinking caps and name a featured actress who went on to appear in a television show that changed television forever. No need to stifle yourself. Good luck.
Is there anyone came after seeing taehyung story 😁😁
Which account exactly?
Wrong song Armys 🤭 The real song turns off comments

Lol they have separate beds
Khalil Hasty Hollywood censorship........
They all did then. The Hays Code was still in effect.
Couples often did, especially after many years. Some people toss and turn, some people snore, sometime one would get up much earlier than the other. They lived together, they had children together, sex happened, you didn't have to sleep in the same bed.
Even in the 1960s in the comic strip "Blondie", husband and wife were always in separate beds.
So where does this come from? It sounds great!
From the musical named in the title of the video.
@@boinx1234 I didn't mean the song. I wanted to know the source of the audio.
horowizard From the LP/CD.
@@boinx1234 But its a REAL bummer, isn't it? I saw this movie many times, on KHJ-TV,Channel 9,I didn't know, many many years later, one of the composers of this movie (and Pajama Game) Jerry Ross, he died about two months after I was born! At 29 years old !!! Both of these musical plays WON Tony Awards for Best Musical Play of the Year! Pajama Game even beat out Peter Pan (which is unheard of). What a shame.
@@bobbyfrancis8957 yes it was on in LA a lot but then the movie disappeared ☹️

Why would Satan have to take a taxi?
Because he could afford to.
@@vincentparisi2644 but i thought Satan could fly through the air. So why would he use a taxicab? I would think he'd do so only because he HAD to -- if he could fly instead!
@@vincentparisi2644 But can't Satan fly through the air? If he can do that, why would he bother with a taxi?
@@atheodorasurname6936 Because Tab couldn't.
@@vincentparisi2644 Satan could have saved money on the fare to Tab's house by first calling a cab to arrive at Tab's house, then flying there by himself.
