  • See what it is like embarking on a cruise going out of Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal at the Port of New Jersey in Bayonne. We were boarding the Celebrity Summit cruise ship for an 11 day Bermuda & New England cruise in June 2019.
The embarkation process was fairly quick. After dropping off our large 50 pound luggage, we proceeded inside the terminal building for an airport-style security screening. That took about 15 minutes. Then it was about another 10-15 minute wait to get to one of the check-in desks, where you would have to provide your passport & cruise documentation. This is also where you would receive your room key cards, and where you get your ID photo taken. That took about 10 minutes. Then it was onward upstairs to the gangway and right onto the cruise ship. After eating lunch and a mandatory muster drill for safety, we took in a pretty sail-away from Cape Liberty. The GCT Bayonne ExpressRail Port Jersey was next door and it was interesting seeing some of the Terex vehicles designed to handle containers at work.
Hope you find this video helpful- if you have any questions please feel free to ask as a comment and we'd be happy to answer!

For those driving to Cape Liberty here is a little advice, I live a mile from the port. When you get off the turnpike at 14A follow your signs for 440 south ,DO NOT take Chosen Few Way like your GPS tells you. Continue on 440 south to Costco stay in your left lane once you get onto 440 south male a left turn at Costco and just go straight it will not only be easier but safer as you will see those who took Chosen Few way. Also there is a CVS and a Starbucks and food store once you make the lefty at Costco......Enjoy

Nope no specific zone- there will be traffic controllers who will direct your ride to the drop-off area. Have a great cruise!

Great!, we are going out of there in a few days on anthem of the seas. How early should you get to the cruise terminal?

It depends on when the cruise ship is leaving. Typically if a ship is sailing at around 4:-00 to 5:00 PM- if you don't mind some waiting you can get there by 10:30 AM or so, with the advantage that you'll probably be able to go eat lunch right after embarking which is probably around noon. If you don't want to wait as long and don't mind eating a later lunch, 1:00 PM or so would be less crowded. Definitely be there at least an hour before when your cruise ticket says you need to be there by. For a ship sailing at 4:00 PM, you'll usually need to be there by 2:00 PM at the latest. Have a great time on the Anthem!

Make sure to bring your vaccine cards & test results, and of course your passports as well. What helps a lot too is to download the Royal Caribbean app and then it will provide you a checklist of what you need. Have an amazing cruise!
