- How we split this hive and introduced this queen!
I bought one nuc last year. I have turned that into 6 thriving hives this year and also raising queens in nucs. So much fun to spilt bees!
I’m an ambitious new beekeeper. I’ve personally made you and Bob my digital mentors. I purchased a nuc in April and grew them into double deeps and a medium by the first part of June. At this point I did a little “on the spot” style splitting and produced 6 splits using queen cells built out using the “notch” method. 4 out of 6 virgin queens returned mated. The Unsuccessful splits I added to the smaller of the 4 successes. Now It’s a race to get these baby nucs beefed up before winter. 5 hives into winter to increase the odds for successes, the plan is for 100 hives in 5 years.
Hey Kamon, just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make this content series, as it’s helped me fill in so many knowledge gaps related to nuc rearing. RTR.
Awesome 😄 you can say you're a big man, it's UA-cam, well believe you👍😆 missed a beetle though, just because you got that under pottle beetle the other day doesn't mean you can slack off now, all beetles are worth points😂 great video and absolutely splitting is fundamental and it's so great to see things growing and advancing as a beekeeper no matter how big you are👍👋
K&L, great video! You had me laughing on the correction to the adult statement. I haven’t been commenting much lately but I’m watching.
We bought 3 nuc’s in the spring now up to 8.
❤ just checked my split for its new Caucasian queen and she has plenty of eggs! Yay
Good morning I am waiting on the shb bait
Most have my favorite queens have been a solid black carniolan type. My current favorite in the yard is a golden brown. I've honestly never been a big fan of yellow queens. The worst ones I had by far were the Cordovans. Definitely seemed to be a genetic weakness in breeding for the recessive genes.
Lol your a trip 🤣 looking forward to mite bait 😊
Ha Kamon really enjoying the series on this thanks again for the Bettle trap information. hope you and loral have a blessed week
Hey Kamon can you Mark the queen with a dot before they eat the Marshmallow still in the Box so it is easier to mark her
Hello Kamon and Laural, I enjoy your videos.
When is it too late in the season to do a split? I'm in NC at about the same line of latitude and elevation as you. One of my resource hives is getting pretty full. Was thinking of splitting it, but thought it was too late to do that.
Why is nobody talking about the bulk honey 🍯 prices hitting an all time low?
Hiii there very good video and thanks for help us . What breed is ? And what breed you prefer ?
I bought a hive with queen or that’s I what I thought I’m been checking for larva and I couldn’t find nothing weeks later I realized there was a queen cell. Does still a good time for bees to grow or not from South Carolina
Tell me more about this beetle smacker
Hey Kamon
