  • Honey Garlic Shrimp
    1 stick of butter
    8 Tablespoons honey
    The juice of one lemon
    2 tablespoons soy sauce
    6 teaspoons of minced garlic
Approximately 40-45 jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
    1 Tablespoon cornstarch
    1 Tablespoon water
    Salt to season
    Fresh, chopped parsley, for garnish
Melt butter in a large skillet over low heat. Whisk in the honey, lemon juice, soy sauce, and garlic. increase heat to medium-low and bring to a simmer; cooking for 30 seconds to one minute. Remove half of this sauce to a small bowl to save for finishing the recipe at the end.
Add half of the shrimp to the skillet, in a single layer, and gently simmer for one to two minutes just until the shrimp turn pink. Flip the shrimp over and simmer for one to two more minutes. The shrimp should now be pink and cooked all the way through. (Do NOT overcook the shrimp or they will be rubbery!) Remove to a plate and cook the other half of the shrimp for one to two minutes on each side just until they become pinkish . Immediately remove the second batch of shrimp to the plate.

Add the reserved honey/garlic sauce to the skillet, and bring back to a gentle simmer. Stir together the cornstarch and water. Once the sauce is bubbling, stir in the cornstarch slurry and whisk until it is thickened. Add all of the cooked shrimp back into the skillet, season with a few pinches of salt, and toss gently to coat with the honey garlic sauce. Remove to a serving plate and garnish with chopped parsley, if desired. Serve immediately.

Having serious shrimp-envy here in TN now! I love TN but we aren’t known for our seafood. I know you know how blessed you are to have those beauties! The only shrimp I can find here that aren’t farm-raised (which I won’t eat) are, believe or not at my local Aldi. They’re wild caught from Argentina, not nearly as huge as yours but delicious. I have a 1 lb bag in the freezer that I’ll use for your delicious looking recipe. Thanks again!

We were concerned about how much salt they would absorb and didn't want to overwhelm the flavor. You can always add more but you can't take it out. But they definitely needed some salt. I think if we had used regular soy sauce, it might have not needed it. But we always try to add a little and taste to adjust as we go along.

I would add black pepper too. I use liquid amino acids in place of soy sauce as it's a healthier version & tastes similar. I also use a honey substitute which is sugar-free & tastes good. Don't use agave as bad for liver. For honey walnut version can use ground instead of halves or whole nuts.

I can relate to you de-veining a shrimp. I grew up in Wyoming and the shrimp that we had was frozen butterflied and breaded. My mom pan fried them in bacon grease. Sisters and I fought over how many we could eat. Then moving to Texas and going to the shore to buy shrimp I was amazed seeing them fresh. I always paid extra for headless shrimp until one day the market only had them with heads. It would cost extra to de-head them. I watched this woman pinching heads off shrimp with both hands at once. Never paid for shrimp to have the heads removed again. I was taking the heads off with a sharp knife. There is also a tool that will slide down the back taking the shell and vein out at the same time.

Here's a tip for deveining shrimp. All you need is a toothpick. After shelling insert the toothpick at the joint of the second segment and lift toothpick up through the shrimp. This will pull the vein up to where you can pull the vein from the shrimp by hand.

That sauce looks delicious. I prefer my shrimp with a batter on them. I might try this with baked shrimp then dip them in sauce or throw them in the pan. I never eat shrimp anymore. We used to have a restaurant in Guthrie,OK called Caroline’s. On Friday and Saturday nights it was all the shrimp you could eat boiled and fried. My boyfriend/husband and our boys would eat our weight in shrimp. This takes me back.

That looks and sounds delicious! I would take shrimp any day over lobster tail. Just me. I would recommend trying Tamari. It looks like soy sauce; but has a lower amount of salt and a richer flavor. Soy Sauce has a slight bitter taste to me. Tamari is also gluten free for those who have a problem with gluten.

I do not think if we have shrimp thst big it would ever make it over the rice. We weould stand there and eat it out of the skillet! It looks and souds yummy. If i thought it might make it to the rice i would put a cup of lightly roasted pecans with the shrimp as i am allergic to walnuts.
The harderst part of this recipe is shelling and deveining the shrimp.
But if you are msking scampi, put the shells in the butter and oil, for more flavor, and then removr them and if necessary strain sauce before seeving. I saw that recipe on Pintrest and did😢😢 not copy it and then it wss taken down.
