    Have just started using Firecapture as I bought a ZWO camera. Wow, so much better than using my Orion Starshoot where half of the settings didn't even work. You videos inspired me 1 year ago to get into webam capture and I am loving it.

      The user interface has changed a lot since this video was made but at least the main concepts will be useful.

    I use a neximage 10 with fire capture, but the preview showed black and white. How do I change it to the color mode?

    I really want my setup to look like your screen. Easier to navigate and time matters when capturing. I would like the power of fire capture and the common sense of iCap. How can I rearrange the controls in fire capture?

    As always your videos are my goto source ,question does FC work with a Mac ? thank you again

    • @WarmWeatherGuy
      @WarmWeatherGuy 5 років тому

      Download it here www.firecapture.de/
      Apparently there is a version for the Mac but it only works with QHY and ZWO cameras which are the ones that most people use.
      Right after I uploaded this video a new version was released which had a total user interface overhaul which makes this video more or less obsolete. The author of FireCapture has made UA-cam videos showing how to use the newer version. Just click on the Tutorials tab at the top of his web page.

    OK. I did my best to run this with my NexImage 5 (That I bought by your recommendations). There is no way for me to get it to work. In first screen Celestron NexImage is not existing as an icon. If I use "WebCam" option, I do see that along with the pc's integrated camera in the list but if I use the PC's camera, software works but if I chose NexImage5, I get error message. Can you please help? What am I missing to use this software or is not compatible at all with NexImage5?

      You can use FireCapture if you select TIS (the imaging source) for your camera but I prefer to use iCap with my NexImage 5. I have a video on that too.

      Yes have seen icap tutorial before and extremely useful. Just wanted to try this software to see if there is anything better as you mentioned that this is the most popular one.And Yes. It works with Neximage5 when using TIS icon. Gives a vertical correction error but did worked. Only it freezes and becomes unresponsive soon, after some few minutes of use. Must look more into it. Thanks a lot for your great tutorials that are them BEST on YT and all you do here.

    If I want to record in color then why do I turn the debayer off?

    • @wwgeb
      @wwgeb  7 років тому +1

      Each pixel has a red, green, or blue filter over it. When you turn debayer off you are saving the intensity of each pixel. AutoStakkert will then use an algorithm to determine the two missing colors for each pixel. If you have your capture software do that it will figure out the missing colors from the surrounding pixels. Then you will be saving 3 times as much data as before without any extra information and you won't be able to use AutoStakkert's superior color algorithm. So if you capture with color your files will be 3 times as large and your final picture won't be as nice.

    • @rumple440
      @rumple440 7 років тому

      wwgeb hmmm...
      I'm using Registax. Maybe I should give Autostakkert a try?

    • @wwgeb
      @wwgeb  7 років тому

      AutoStakkert is much better at stacking than RegiStax.
      planetaryimagingtutorials.com/stacking/
      AutoStakkert will make a single .TIF from each .AVI file. Then you can use RegiStax to open the .TIF and you will be taken to the wavelet tab. Definitely check it out.

      James Davis I have not used sharpcap. Firecapture is great. From spending time on this forum
      www.cloudynights.com/forum/77-solar-system-imaging-processing/
      I've seen people recommending firecapture over sharpcap several times. Firecapture is the one everyone is using.

    Excelent tutorial. May i ask please: ¿I use firecapture 2.7.10. In the filter menu, ¿should i choose RGB filter, or L, or wich one? ¿does it depends on what planet i want to record?
    ¿In image menu, i chosse ROI or MAX?
    I am new in astrophoto
    I use a color camera, asi zwo 462 and a refractor 120/1000 and barlow x2. Only planetary for now. Thank you verry much

    • @wwgeb
      @wwgeb  Рік тому

      FireCapture remembers the last settings you used. For example, if you use an exposure time of 10 msec and a gain of 200 then the next time you use FireCapture it will start with those settings. FireCapture remembers different settings for each planet. Mars is brighter than Saturn so you will have different settings. People who use different filters may want a different setting for a green filter versus a red filter, for example. Using a color camera just select RGB, or any other, it really doesn't matter. It only affects the settings you start with, and also the output filename.

      @@wwgeb i see, but you tell me about the Filter to choose in the aplication only, right?

    • @wwgeb
      @wwgeb  Рік тому +1

      @@mikegordonbrasov161 It doesn't matter which you choose. Just select RGB. It doesn't affect the capture, you get the same bits no matter what.

      I have never used amcap. I now use the latest beta version of FireCapture. The user interface has changed making this video obsolete.
      For help using amcap or FC I would ask on Cloudy Night's Solar System Imaging & Processing forum.

    I have been tyring to find out if the Fire Capture program shows a logo on the desk top, at the moment I am going into my down load file to open the program, to me this does not seem right, this program is the only one I have that I have to open a program this way. If it is supposed to show a logo could you explain how and where I can find it, and how to put it onto the desk top. Very interesting videos by the way learning heaps on Fire Capture. Cheers Robert Aust'

      If you right-click on the executable a menu appears. Select Create shortcut. It will create a shortcut in the same folder as the executable. Then drag the shortcut to the desktop. You may also want to rename it. --- wwgeb

      I think I have found my problem Fire Capture won't download onto my comp' I tried 2.5 and it would not download either. I decided to check my programs and Fire Capture was not there, any further help will be appreciated.

    • @WarmWeatherGuy
      @WarmWeatherGuy 5 років тому

      @@newbee1016 After you download you end up with a single .zip file in your default download folder. Then right-click and select Extract All... and you end up with a new FireFox folder with all the files it needs. You can move this folder to your program files folder if you like. Then make a shortcut on the desktop. The best way to get help is to ask on the Solar System Imaging & Processing forum on Cloudy Nights. www.cloudynights.com/forum/77-solar-system-imaging-processing/
