A Mitsubshi 4M40 engine is a diesel engine equipped with turbo or non turbo system.
This is about timing settings and marking of gear with turbo engine and non turbo engine. Timing settings confusion is the reason of less engine power, particularly turbo engine.
Another reason is timing retarded, if retarded for one teeth or more and jump out of teeth is the cause of less engine power, hard starting, or long cranking, rough idle, engine stalling, and similar to engine misfiring.
If performing internal parts settings always do double check before finalizing the completion of engines. Do it twice, thrice to make it sure not undoubtedly mistakes. It's a reminder.
Removing and installing again is a waste of time for you and your customers unhappy to you.

What is correct adjustment of rocker arm intake and exhaust valve
If you watch the position of camshaft cam lobe of #1 cylinder without timing mark you can set the timing...before opening and closing of the valve...tha's it.
What if you set the timing on a turbo engine to non-turbo. Will the turbo not working. I got a pajero recently and it won't go over 2500 rpm, feels like the engine doesn't come on boost

If M8 bolts smaller ones is 24nm
