your Dad's jingle went global! It was also picked up by Channel 10 in Melbourne, Australia, in 1981.

@@midwestfinest9563 I'm sorry to say he didn't write any other network jingles, but he wrote plenty of commercials over the years. One of his most famous ones was for HEINEKEN, with the hook line "Come to think of it, I'll have a Heineken" (which was supposed to be sung but often the agency did it as a voiceover). As the decade turned to the 80's Under CBS's "We're Looking Good" season, 60 Minutes was the #1 show. Alice, M*A*S*H, Dallas, Flo, The Jeffersons, The Dukes of Hazzard, and One Day at a Time were all in the top 10. Archie Bunker's Place, House Calls, and Trapper John MD were doing well in the teens and WKRP in Cincinnati and Knots Landing were hanging on in the twenties.
CBS was also home of Super Bowl XIV.
ABC started this season as the number one network with their "Still the One" promotional campaign. However, close to mid-season, CBS overtook ABC as the number one network due in no small part to ABC shuffling many of its hit shows around the schedule which resulted in a massive ratings decline. ABC's goal was to try to dominate every single night of the week in the ratings.
ABC attempted a comedy block on Sunday night, which CBS quickly flattened with their established hits: 60 Minutes, Archie Bunker's Place, One Day at a Time, Alice, The Jeffersons, and Trapper John.
At the end of the '78-'79 season, the top five shows were all ABC comedies. Because of the schedule changes ABC made, only one of those top five ABC shows remained there, which was Three's Company. The others were either cancelled or suffered massive ratings drops.

I was too young at the time to remember this promo, but definitely remember most of the shows. I couldn't even tell you what is on CBS today except for Blue Bloods. I wish there was a time machine but for now, we have UA-cam.

The fall image campaigns began airing in the summer,, and generally promoted shows that were to begin airing in September. Knots Landing didn't premiere until the end of December 1979.
