Great video! Flown this route multiple times too but always feel bad lately.. Doesn't feel right to fly such a short route. There are already discussions going on to replace it by a train service though. It's a train ride of only 2 hours from Düsseldorf Central to Amsterdam Central Station
Thanx! I had that same feeling when I boarded this flight 🙈 There’s already a convenient ICE service connecting Amsterdam with Düsseldorf every 2 hours and there are plans to expand this service in the near future. Besides the ICE, there’s also a regional train (Regional-Express) connecting Arnhem Central Station with Düsseldorf Central, also calling at the airport every hour. So there’s definitely no lack of connections :)
The shame isn’t the climate hysteria. The shame is the lack of alternatives in the Rheine-Ruhr-Area. In the German federal state Nordrhein-Westfahlen (which capital Düsseldorf is) are living nearly the same amount of population, then in the whole Netherlands. Therefor there are only a few transcontinental connections from Dus international. The same reason why a lot of Germans fly very short connections to Frankfurt or Munich because they doesn't want to miss their longhaul flight. KLM also connects 9 other German Airports with Amsterdam and it seems to be profitable, the flights are normally good booked. As long as these planes fly the Dutch German-Relationships are working. A lot of people are happy to get a flight with the same duration, because everybody who knows Germany a little bit precisely got the experience. The Deutsch Bahn AG is unreliable, has a bad service and has in-transparent pay-scales. In some cases, flying is cheaper than Train. But the cause aren’t cheap flight rates the cause are high priced train tickets caused by ineffective and deficit structure of German railroads. Hopefully the actual crises doesn’t cut this small connection permanent away, it would be a big lost.
