While his point was accurate, he's in the wrong. First, he stated his opinion in a very passive-aggressive way, and yes, being passive-aggressive should ALWAYS get called out. Then there's doing it in front of their ENTIRE friend group, rather than having a private discussion about it. It isn't approached from a positive direction.
One of the Memorable Avengers comics pages Hawkeye was written by an author who really got the character: “Many Heroes are Avengers because they do one thing extremely well. Hawkeye is an Avenger because he does many things extremely well. In combat roles, you don’t have one trick ponies. There might be specialists; but they have multiple skillsets. In the NYC invasion scene in the first Avengers movie, Cap doesn’tvtell Hawkeye to just stick people with arrows. Cap recognized Hawkeye was trained to observe, predict tactics by reading people and make strategic decisions. Hawkeye is responsible for himself, Thor and Black Widow being alive to serve in the Avengers, since he had been given kill orders on both of them. One daved The Nine Realms from Hela and one was crucial to bringing half the universe back to life after Thanos’ snap.

People think howard can do no wrong
In recent seasons, there has literally been a whole plot about how Howard treated Raj terribly for years and Raj decided not to talk to him anymore, until after a few episodes they had an emotional conversation … what’s mean “no one pointed out”?
There's a difference between making fun of a friend, which Howard does, and calling him a failure at life and career like Sheldon does.

Well, Howard was a complete creep until Bernadette came along and made him a bareable character. And even then he's still mean to Raj to the point where Raj has to break up their friendship to show how toxic it was. So I don't really mind when Sheldon is rude to Howard.
Bernadette stands up for him all the time. She keyed Amy's car over him.
There are several occasions where she stands up for him.
Bernadette is the real deal. Sweet and pleasing as long as possible but fearless and ready to maul anybody who goes against her loved ones. Or Howard himself, when he is a moron again.

Its not like he wants the money back, he just wants to see that she is able to take care of herself
2 things:
1. The only fight the MCU Avengers lost was against Thanos in Infinity War, the ONLY time Hawkeye wasn't fighting.
2. Leonard kind of has a point in regards to Penny's acting; it's kind of stupid to turn down paid work, even if you think the role is dumb. All it takes is ONE single member of the crew, whether a costar, producer, whatever to take note of you and think of you for bigger, even better paying projects
