Thanks for all the videos, it really helps when planning trips! These videos are a great tool, as long as everyone does their part to help keep these beautiful places beautiful, there’s nothing wrong with it.
Man, I recently discovered your channel and I have to say that these reviews are just freaking amazing! We are in the purchase process of a all wheel drive custom campervan that is completely self-contained and your videos give Campendium a real punch when trying to find low-cost or free campsites. Love it!
@@CampgroundRecon we stayed at anvil just passed where you turned around. Planned to be there the whole week but the snowstorm drove us out. Heading back there for a couple weeks in June/July
@@jakeshaw8800 I saw the road just past there is closed thru June due to the Ice Lakes Fire. South Mineral Campground is closed thru June, maybe longer.
@@gearrecon yep. Hopefully clear lake trail will open back up but I personally doubt it this year so it can heal from the fire. Kendall, anvil and the other campground and golden horn campground just a little further down the road on south mineral will be open but the gate is right after there
I doubt that the State of Colorado really needs to attract more visitors. Telling everyone where these places are is sort of like telling lemmings where the edge of the cliff is , don't ya think ? If the primary campground in that area is full, at South Mineral that is, then NO MORE PEOPLE SHOULD BE ALLOWED !! Dispersed camping is nothing more than trespassing.
@@alanmiller4122 There is a conscience and an etiquette that backpackers and back country campers seem to have. Assuming that there are not destructive motorized vehicles involved, I think back country camping is the best way to experience our public lands.
@@kevin-flood I agree and I understand your thoughts on dispersed but, to be frank, I don't see a lot of tourists in those sites, they're almost exclusively Coloradans. Just look at the long line of cars on 24 from Buena Vista back to Springs on a Sunday afternoon.
@@alanmiller4122 I am sure that is true, Alan, and I understand what you are saying. But I guess the problem that I see is: What can we do, regarding not only Coloradans but also visitors to Colorado ( or any state, for that matter, that is fortunate enough to have beautiful and accessible public lands) so that we just don't 'love them to death' ?! As much as I enjoy watching their videos, the problem I have with this particular Campground Recon post is the fact that it tells people where these places are specifically, and that by doing such we run the risk of attracting even more visitors, regardless of where they come from. In doing so, are we not simply exacerbating the problem ? And if so, what can be done about it ? The answers are not easy ones but the natural beauty, the health of our forests and the integrity of all of our public lands are in jeopardy.
How does a citizen trespass on public land where dispersed camping is legal ? How bout returning all the land the federal government stole from the states. The federal government has no business owning land. The land is owned by the citizens and first nations people of the 50 states. The Constitution says nothing about the federal government should own land. Give it back.If the federal government needs land then lease it from the states.USA is almost 45 trillion dollars in debt. The federal government has failed the citizens to this point in time. We the People are the Bosses not politicians who prove over and over to be crooks and theivesor at best ignorant failures.STOP THE MADNESS...RETURN TO COMMON SENCE !!!

Glad to help out. Agree, if we all do our part they will remain free to use.

Lucky! Someday we’ll upgrade from the tent.
Fantastic. Thank you so much!
CAR CAMPING...YES !!!!
I’ve stayed in this one. Pretty nice for the price.
Can’t beat the price!
Thank you for all your videos!! I love camping but my biggest struggle is finding where to go. Your videos help tremendously!
Glad we could help you out!
Never seen so many campgrounds in one area
Did you Notice? A big dry driveway and he drove right through a mud hole !!! LOL
LOL. I didn’t notice until you mentioned it. Watched the clip a dozen times while editing. I guess I wasn’t paying attention while driving
Thanks for the vid. Just found your channel. Question: is it suitable to camp in Dec in any of these campsites?
They will likely be snowed in by December
Is this place open in the winter? I know they close a lot of stuff off after Oct. Great video… cheers from Denver.
Probably not open once the snow starts accumulating. I’d guess it’s closed by November if not earlier.
@@CampgroundRecon thanks for the info. Love the videos. Keep them up.
Hey that’s my wife and I in the white Jeep at 5:04
Awesome! I always enjoy hearing from someone that was in our video and found it.

What is the cell service like at these camping areas?
We didn't have any with Verizon or AT&T. It's not too far into Silverton if you need to get to service occasionally
