Got my grinder put together had it now about 2 weeks. Just won't to say thanks for the video. Kevin thanks to you for helping me out with all questions.
This video is gold! Before I bought one of your grinders, all I could find for videos was customer reviews, I found enough info from them to still choose this grinder but I bet this video will help make up a lot of people’s minds that much faster and easier! Great grinders!!
you may want to add a note at 28:mins regarding drive wheel orientation for 1hp model vs higher HP. The written instructions pointed out that the drive wheel orientation (flat side in facing the motor vs flat side out) is different for the smaller HP motor.
The motor is capable of being set up to run in reverse by adding a simple switch to the speed controller, but the tracking isn't responsive. If you're only using it for sharpening, precision tracking may not be crucial, so you might get away with it. Give the drive wheel several spins in reverse by hand to see if the belt tracks good enough for your standards. If you're happy with it, we can get you a reverse switch.
My grinder had lines on the shafts that are close to correct settings. Seems like it was pre assembled by a knife maker ! The VFD IS awesome. The noise level is refreshing. The tutorials are excellent. So many functions I’m going to have to relearn knifes. Kind of no limits. I was thinking on giving up on precision. I love my KMG but things have changed in the last few years.Today ill make a tree to store the accessories as i think they will stay cleaner than under the grinder.
There are a lot of variables and if you go the the cart and star the checkout process it will give you a total before you have to input any card info. Having said that a basic single speed grinder shipping in 2 boxes at around 150lbs will be about $125ish
I think you mis-spoke. You said to grind your blade edge up, that you'd need to run the grinder backwards. That is not accurate, the opposite is true. I have your grinder and use it all the time. I do have the reversible motor. Happy with everything except the bearings you supply are cheap chinese ones and I need to replace several. The 3/4in radius wheel bearings self destructed within 2-3 minutes of running it at half speed.....not sure what that was about??.
For shaping the bevel, you are correct that you grind edge up with the grinder running forward. However, it is not safe to sharpen with edge up on a belt grinder if you don't run the belt backwards. The sharp edge can cut the belt or your contact wheel and throw your blade at you or you can get hit with the severed belt. We offer full warranty replacements on wheels that have bearing failures. Feel free to contact us to arrange for replacements if you ever have issues.
I should have mine in a couple of weeks! I'm really exited and getting my shop re-arranged. :) The motor bracket and alignment gauge are shipped with the grinder it even if you have your own motor, correct?
Good job, important and helpful information for anyone purchasing a grinder. Mine is on order for first week of August. Confirms I ordered the best combination for me!
I love my AmeriBrade grinder so much that when I upgraded to a VFD, I decided to order a fastback for my single speed motor. This is an amazing grinder and AmeriBrade’s customer service is exceptional. I’ll be a customer for life.
@@guitarzarfun Not sure what motor Ameribrade supplies with their complete grinder package. I already had a motor to use (56 frame), so bought the grinder without a motor and used my own.
@@TheLeatherSniffer k cool thanks! Im seriously wanting this fastback. the drive wheel tracking is the thing that makes it(and the Wuertz) stand out in a sea of other grinders. That and it's overall compactness. Killer design.
@@albertledesma5173 yeah man actually I just got it today and was super stoked but for some reason the motor didn't make it so that was a bummer. Other than that it is top quality craftsmanship. Everything is nice and tight! Oh and there was one little thing with the start stop switch but no biggie!! I talked to Eric several times and he was always nice and extra willing to help!! Definitely recommend ameribrade!!!

Sure did help making up my mind. Now I’m just rubbing my palms as I anxiously await it’s arrival.

Excellent video. I just ordered one of these and I had no idea it had this many features. Please make more of them.
We are designing more as i type this.
is there a way to run the classic frame on reverse for sharpening if you have a vfd motor ?

Finally got it all set up and running, and it's fantastic! Everything I'd hoped for, and the customer service is terrific.

@@guitarzarfun That's a smokin' price on that motor! Where did u find that? I'll probably be upgrading to variable speed sooner rather than later.
Just ordered a package deal today!! Super excited!!
Thanks Jeff! Now the painful wait begins. We're bummed the wait times are so long right now, but we're working to get those down.
Haha yeah, just hurry every chance ya get!! 😉
Have you received your grinder? If so, any feedback? Not that it’ll help me make my mind as I’ve already made my mind and ordered. Just curious.

This was the best informative video on 2x 72 grinders I have seen. He explains everything you need to know about buying one. Thanks for the info.
Over priced. Buy a power flex vfd and almost any motor then build the rest or buy this and have kids build yours
