I love that someone gifted you money so you can upgrade your AC unit. That is such wonderful news. And the new freezer, great! We think you are doing wonderfully at your property and we're so happy for you. It's just what you needed in life is to be right where you are, being in nature, growing things, peacefulness, etc. Enjoy that special ice cream!!!

We love you Jeff, you are such an inspiration to many of us out here, more of us than you know! My hubby is 79 and I am 65 with disabilities that hinder so many things that I use to love to do! The one thing I miss so much is working out in my yard and small garden. You will be in our prayers Jeff, God is watching over you and just know that He will continue blessing you my friend! :)

Having an illness or disability and living on a fixed income is very hard and most people don't understand the sacrifices one makes. Yet making the choice to live life doing the best you can with what you've got to do with is at times scorned on. Having to rest in bed because you chose to stand at the stove and cook that hamburger you made from the reduced ground beef is something more people do than known about. Life happens and we adjust to the best of our ability. Jeff, you're doing an amazing job on Bobblehead Homestead considering what you have to go through on a daily basis. All the beautiful flowers and positive changes in your place along with having chickens is a testament to yes you can do it in my opinion. It's up to us what we do with what we've been dealt often at the hands of others. We can choose to be positive or negative. You're certainly a positive kind guy. I do hope that during the hottest part of the day you do go rest and use that air conditioner to be comfortable

Thank you for the positive message. I wish more people understood the limitations that people go through just to make it through the days. I also have dreams of having my own place and all I hear when I talk about them is that "you can't do that with how you feel" or "you are just to lazy and to do that you have to work at it". It can get so discouraging. So Thank you Alice the Gmaw and a big thank you to Jeff.

Thank you for sharing! I am kinda in the same boat. A little over a year ago, I was diagnosed with a crippling condition. I went through a few months of depression, then changed my approach, started chiropractic care, bought land in April, and we are working on clearing it to start a self sufficient farm. I completely understand the "mind over matter". I am able to do things out there, that I wouldn't dream of attempting at my "house"... Keep up the good work. Look how far you've come, enjoy YOUR success.

What a great video, Jeff. Here's what I learn from you. (1). First priority is taking care of the needs of your body. (2) Doing something is its own reward. (3). Even the hard stuff is motivating. (4). Eat that elephant one bite at a time. (5). Motivations can come from inside and outside of yourself. (6). Dealing with challenges is an individualized thing. (7) Sharing the "real" stuff with others helps everyone understand what your challenges are. (8). Humor is always the best way to deal with things. (9). Friends and family are there when you need them. We feel we are on your journey with you. (10). Sometimes you have to feel the bad/sad feelings to get back to the good ones. Thank you for sharing your successes with us. Take care. Bunny in NWFL

Jeff for years now I have been taking care of my father in law James with Parkinson's. What a horrible disease that robs. We figured out that homegrown food was what the Parkinsons responded to in his case and if he had to go out of the house which was not often he would take an anti-inflammatory the night before and the day of and that would give an edge of mercy/help. Doctors convinced him to go on meds and it robbed him of his life and mind. I have seen those that do not take meds and those are the ones that have life. I know what your going through is not easy at all and no one knows how debilitating it is but I have to say for me it's wonderful to see someone such as yourself doing and going forward one step at a time. Thank you

What will you plant in a winter garden this year? And here's a tip for you. You will save money if you buy a chicken whole. The price goes up when butchers cut the chicken into sections or make special packages with, for example, exclusively chicken thighs. And when you buy the chicken whole, you can debone the chicken and freeze the chicken bones. Once you have a couple or three chickens worth of bones, make bone broth, an extremely nutritious beverage served warm or hot or used as liquid when making rice or other grain dishes.

here it is almost june 2019, one year later & look what has been accomplished thru putting your dreams out into the universe, a 'new tiny home', and most of the "junk" has been eliminated from your surroundings. So many new friends you've made, did you ever think it would come to this? So happy for you Jeff, Dreams Do Come True! I know what you're saying about needing your naps, I also take afternoon naps if I don't, I feel awful (pain wise) also if I over work myself I am in a LOT of pain the next day & lose 2-3 days just recuperating, so not worth it.

I bought myself a 3.5 cu ft. freezer when I retired, it has been a joy , especially when the budget gets low. I buy meat on sale and individually wrap portions for the freezer. Have saved money, as well as, have often times cooked extra and put full meals into it.

You are amazing to set out like you have and work hard at achieving your goals. You are in my prayers.

Jeff, I so appreciate your outlook. and thank you for the update, I was wondering how you've been doing. I've not been watching channels as much as I was (long story), so have missed a few weeks of yours and others. It was good to catch up here.
That's awesome you were blessed with the funds to get a better A/C unit. How did you manage with a tiny fridge though? To me that would seem more difficult than being without a stove or oven. I was without an oven/stove for two years here, that was an adventure. Microwave, electric skillet and the Barbecue grill.
Oh and btw, I so agree with you on the prices of meat!!! I was just at the grocery store and they had family paks of steaks, buy one get one free. Spend more money to save, I hate that. It's the kind of thing has been probably my hardest thing to deal with since my husband died and I'm living on less. Say, have you talked to anyone about going in on a portion of a beef cow? That's what I was thinking of doing. I don't eat that much so a little would go a long way and it's got to be less per pound than the stuff I've been buying and better meat too. You know enough people you may be able to make that work. Just a thought.

You're so right about how being poor is expensive. Being in jail/prison is expensive, as I've learned through my youngest son (who is no longer in prison and no longer lives with me, Hallelujah!) I've been poor. We're now comfortable enough to save money buying in bulk, though not wealthy by any means. Hang in there Jeff! I'm rooting for you.

Ha just took a photo for a friend of my laying in bed with kitty watching youtube videos. I do it every night just before bed. I am so sorry you have the Parkinson's. I think your just being honest on what motivates you and moving to the country and doing the best you can is the best therapy. I also find on my most productive days even if I am in terrible arthritis pain I feel so much better because like you said I can look back and say .SEE what you just did it is great!! Two days ago enclosing my dog house structure with shower doors and windows to keep their bedding dry. They live mostly in the house but the times they do have to stay in the yard for a bit I want them to be comfortable and dry. And YES I am a junker I make what I can out of what I have and my abilities to do so. Shower doors and windows all dump shopped. My favorite shopping place. Always an adventure. This project all recycled stuff nothing new. www.flickr.com/photos/50185661@N03/44030777794/in/dateposted/

Hi Jeff, it was good to watch this vlog, I believe the haters should watch this vlog also instead of jumping to conclusions.
I have CRPS, through it I have had to retire from a life I loved as both a pathologist and a horsewoman..I have gone through so many kinds of depression, I hate the drugs I have to take daily but without them I Can’t function.. like you I take baby steps daily do a bit at a time.
I started a planner with a daily and weekly planner, I write what I want to do and then what I do.. I found through the pain management groups I learnt to set a timer on my phone in increments of 1 hour... so I do an hours work and I take an hour down etc through the day... everyday is a challenge...now you have had the help of out in the country you really now just need to clean a little daily then your plans will all come together... good luck with everything you now have another follower xxx

I hope someone buys you the books on your wish list. You might be on to something there. I would buy them for you if I could. Also praying that your housing situation gets sorted out. I’m disabled, on pain meds from several sets of neck hardware. My favorite thing is advice from people that have never dealt with long term pain, or the Sanctimonious Opioid Nazis who say you should never take pain meds. First, Tylenol and Advil are both horrible for your liver and kidneys, I took enough Advil to bomb my stomach and intestines, my GI guy said “your insides look like a boiled, angry lobster..!” There’s a difference between addiction, dependence and being stable on meds. I had a coop built this year, waiting now on McMurray to send chicks in April to force me outside in winter. Really looking forward to caring for the ladies. Right..how much pain can you endure. It’s like you wake up with a certain number of chips, and you use them up during the day, sometimes you wake up with very few chips available. I was abandoned by friends and colleagues, they are cruel. One lady I worked with over twenty years saw me in the store, she asked how I was, I complained some and she said “well, you look good enough to go shopping..” well, duh..ppl have to eat, so, unless I want to starve I go to the store. Hang in there..what else can we do?

Forgot to add..the other fallacy is that pain meds relieve all your pain. The best they can do is give you relief sometimes. That’s what keeps you sane in the long term. I feel horribly for ppl that can’t get access to pain meds. Even surgery in hospitals is bad now because depending on who you get, they may not control your pain adequately. Before you get stuck in a hospital recovering from a procedure, make them outline your pain control.

Jeff, I understand about pain and trying to avoid it.
Used to be my first half an hour in the morning was spent relearning how to walk.
I used to hurt everywhere all the time.
Best thing I ever did was to buy a dog. We started walking at first with painkillers, then fewer pills and longer walks until I was back to where I had been.
I'm not saying it is what you should do, just saying try to keep moving if you can.

So glad to hear you are making progress on your homestead and getting some things to help make your daily struggles a little more comfortable. It's nice to hear there are people out there who are able to help you out. Sleep is such an important thing. Have experienced the very scary side effects of too little sleep, do your best to get back to your regular pattern before it hits you hard. You have accomplished a lot so far, and it has been a pleasure to watch your garden expand and begin to bloom, but be patient.
I heard something recently about pain that struck a chord in me, which helped me get through some pain of my own. I can't recall where I heard it, perhaps a movie or something, but it went something like, pain is what life sends us to relate to each other, remind you that you are alive, tell you that you might need to change something in your life or appreciate what you have. You should never be afraid of pain or try to avoid it completely as when you stop feeling all pain, you'll lack sympathy for others, it will signal the end or you'll never appreciate life's painless moments. I think it helped me cope with pain better, and definitely helped me to look forward to those painless moments just that bit more.
    Keep fighting a good fight.

I have no doubt there is a lot of truth to that for many people. No pain, no gain, or something like that. :) I must say I am a lot happier and more satisfied with my situation since I've gotten down here, so it's all been worth it. Thank you!

Hi Dale! I just saw your October 3rd part 2 video. You should change the title on this video to something that has Parkinson's in it. It could really be helpful to other who have it and it would also help with the naysayers out there. Thank you for sharing your journey.♡

I have found that living the homestead lifestyle has me more active then I have been in a very long time. Sometimes we let our disability take over and rule our lives.....like you I have changed how I do EVERYTHING!!!! Just don't be like me and over do it and end up laid up for weeks!!!

Your body is telling you that you needed rest. You need to listen. You have accomplished so much since moving onto your land, but dont overdo it. 😀

Yes it was. Sometimes I have to make sure it is my body talking and not me just trying to be lazy, but I usually figure it out. Thank you!
