When people say that they hate Killian for keeping the shears, I point them back to this moment. Neither of them wants to lose the other! Emma turned Killian into a Dark One to save his life; preferring that he hate her and be alive. Killian kept the shears in case there is no other way to save his life; preferring that she hate him but remain alive. They balance each other out and will do anything to keep each other alive considering everything they have gone through together
Ok, I know it was wrong what Emma did, she did not respect what Killian wanted but from Emma's perspective, she has always been abandoned. Her parents, then Neal died, Graham died, even Walsh died, and then the man who broke down her walls, who came to mean so much to her, dies? I can see why in grief she did it
Oh I love this moment ! One of most poignant I could see. Both heartbreaking and tragic. Each time I see this scene I cry, these two actors are really great !
True. It was in some interview with either Adam and Eddy or with Jennifer Morrison but they talk about how the Dark One is selfish. However I'm sure most people would have done the same thing. Especially Emma who has lost so much.
+umbrastar I can understand teh selfishnes and the moment Rumple sayed she neded to be ready to get ride of the darknes i knew she was not a fully dark one. like she was eman to everyone wantet to be acceptet the darknes but also wantet to get ride of it thingking everything would be good again but i bet would her plan have succeded noone would trust her
I think I can explain why the magic coming out of Merlin was dark. We know that the magic that came from the grail is in both Merlin and the dark one, and while the grail was changed into a sword, Excalibur to cut away and take back the magic and the immorality it gave, we know that despite the form it takes, the stuff that makes up the grail has control over the magic it gives. Even in pieces, the sword is powerful, I betcha just like Excalibur gave Killian a death sentence with a tiny cut, The Dark One's dagger has a similar effect, it's just that anyone who's ever been on the receiving end of that blade we never cared about keeping them alive. We know that the person who stabs the dark one with the dagger takes the magic, but the show never walked us directly through the steps, but we know how it's done. When Rumple killed Zoso using the dagger, the dagger essentially was cutting through the tether Zoso had forged with it when he killed the previous dark one, and in the cutting of that tether to Zoso, the dagger took away his immortality and his magic, and in doing so, it forged a new tether with Rumple, due to him performing such a dark act, that's what tethered him to the dagger, a dark act using a dark magical dagger, a dark act to break and forge a dark bond. The thing is, the magic that was in Merlin had been tethered to Excalibur, and when Emma took Merlin's name off but tethered Killian to the sword instead, the magic went from Merlin into him. If Emma had let Killian die, Merlin's magic would have stayed with him. It was essentially like how Emma became the dark one after taking in the darkness from Rumple to save Regina, and how Emma bound Killian to the blade caused Merlin's transferring magic to turn dark.
She used dark magic to tether a soul destined to die to our world. but she did it to keep him alive. the sacrifices one makes to save those we love. she became darkness incarnate, and turned him to one too. what other choice would she have had... loosing him was not an option. we would have done the same.
+WHITEPHOENIX OFTHECROWN Because he can wield both light and dark magic. He is the greatest sorcerer of all time and knows how to balance the dark and light magic.
Yeah. It never made sense to me. Like tying Nimue to the dagger isn't what made her magic dark. It was killing someone out of vengeance. Merlin's magic remains uncorrupted. And if tying people to sword makes that darkness multiple why didn't it already multiple when Arthur tied Merlin to the sword? Why wasn't Merlin another dark one?
I'd assume for whatever reason she needs the Dark One's brand of magic and not the Savior's to bind Killian to Excalibur. So she can't untether herself without losing the power to tether Killian.
She should have respected his wish but i get why she did it Emma's lost much already and now when she finally found her love she's having to let him go there's no way she's giving up now❤❤
I hate this scene so much because it makes no sense at all. Merlin is not a dark one. He is an immortal wizard who is tethered to the sword. So why does darkness come out of him and go into Hook? He has no darkness? Why does Emma tethering Hook to Excalibur turn him into a dark one? Merlin is not a dark one. If anything it should just make him magic and immortal, able to be controlled by the sword and then Merlin is just human. Another thing, why is it that after Emma does this her look changes? After this moment she’s not evil...she’s still doing what she needs to to destroy the darkness? So she does something wrong but still has super good intentions and is still fighting for good but she gets a costume change to make her look “evil”. Like she’s still fighting for good but now she wears black, has red lipstick and wears her hair in a bun! This season sucked because it had so many plot holes and pointless storyline’s.
"That's not enough for me!" always kills me. Such emotion in such a little sentence. Jen is incredible!
The acting here is ridiculously amazing! From the crying of Emma to her face when she realized that she made a mistake, just brilliant!

Yes, I guess love can justify things
She did it for love.
No producers did it for whiny fanboy
0:18 "You have to let me go."
And my entire being screamed NOOOOOOOOOOOOO xO
Oh I love this moment ! One of most poignant I could see. Both heartbreaking and tragic. Each time I see this scene I cry, these two actors are really great !
Almost four years LATER- And I AM STILL CRYING💙 #CAPTAINSWAN
Am I the only one that was crying although I was a boy. So emotional.
I feel Emma should have respected Hook's wishes here. But I think she allowed her emotions to take control.

Well Emma said that she wasn't gonna watch another loved one die in her arms
She willing to do that ever IT takes to Save Killian's life she Love him so
Ester Samuelsson cause like Merlin said “turning hook into a dark one would be her final step in the darkness”
This still to this day messes me up so much omg THE ACTING

A verybgood break down of how it works
This scene really got to me.. i keep repeating it!
aahhh the theme playing was just too much ahh
She used dark magic to tether a soul destined to die to our world. but she did it to keep him alive. the sacrifices one makes to save those we love. she became darkness incarnate, and turned him to one too.
what other choice would she have had... loosing him was not an option.
we would have done the same.
Instant makeover just add dark magic.
would sure as hell like to find out what happened to hook after he came out of the vault.

@nia-qf2mz why are you responding to a comment from 8 years ago 🤡
why was merlins magic dark ?
+WHITEPHOENIX OFTHECROWN Because he can wield both light and dark magic. He is the greatest sorcerer of all time and knows how to balance the dark and light magic.
No it's because Arthur teathered him to Excalibur and it gave him dark magic to do bad for arthur

oh my GOD
the moment she reliesed she turned into an Villain
Why not transfer her own darkness into him? She would be the saviour and they would have to deal with one dark one?
I'd assume for whatever reason she needs the Dark One's brand of magic and not the Savior's to bind Killian to Excalibur. So she can't untether herself without losing the power to tether Killian.
@@codenate02but she was planning to do just that a few episodes later. She kidnapped zelena to put her magic in her.
Dark swan sucked! I could of gotten on board with dark hook alone, but bad writing is what QUAT is known for!!!
Killian fell so easily into darkness and killed Merlin... He didn't deserve to be saved.
She should have respected his wish but i get why she did it Emma's lost much already and now when she finally found her love she's having to let him go there's no way she's giving up now❤❤
"Killy" ❤❤
Can you upload the scene in which Emma heals Hook's cut and they hug? Thank you!!!
Thanks very much for the link!!!
Why was she avoiding hook this is why

2:07 what happen to emma? why change her outfit
DAN Silver She embraced the darkness.
Merlin said it would her final step into the dark.
Soooo is Merlin dead?
+Sro523 I don't think so. However I'm not sure if he will be killed later on in the next few episodes.
No
It's the 100th time I'm watching this and I'm still crying ahhh the feels hit me everytime
