I'm really glad that over the years NRS has made the effort to correct and improve the lore of the series to better reflect and incorporate East Asian cultures. The first couple games really played fast and loose with it, but this handles it really respectfully. Great casting, too.

Hiroyuki Sanada is an amazing actor. I have so much respect and admiration for this actor. First saw him in a TV series called "Uchu kara no messeji: Ginga taisen" when I was young (I'm almost 50 now). And I absolutely loved his character in the Last Samurai. Can't wait to watch this.
The moment Hanzo yelled Bi-Han, I was hooked on instantly, I knew this movie is going to be badass, emotionally charged, and accurate to the games with the fatalities. LETS GO!!!!

A real missed opportunity this should have been the whole movie this would have set the foundation for mortal Kombat and future installments to come but instead we got this convoluted showcase of characters after the opening scene and really you find yourself thinking what happened to the movie that I watched in the beginning because it's not the same after those seven minutes.
This looks like a very promising movie. Love that the director and rest of the team really used the r rating to push boundaries and give us the mortal kombat feel from the game. I really hope this movie does well so we can get a mortal kombat cinematic universe.

You know, I kind of want to see a full blown series on these two and their back story. For being two of the most iconic characters in the franchise, we haven't exactly gotten the best depiction of their story that wasn't also tied to some serious cheese.
I saw this movie yesterday.. and i fell in love with the character scorpion right away. Hiroyuki is one of the best martial actors who EVER existed in this planet. 👏💯

@@dekumidoria4683 It is a movie with a perfectly balanced performance of both narrating and action. Any MK fans will love this movie mainly due to so much fanservice. BUT. The fanservice only happens when the action begins. Not when they're exchanging dialogues. Which is why it's satisfying. This movie tells a different story entirely yet it's also the perfect movie for anyone who has never played MK. Took this opinion from my wife for it. As for the Fatalities: Flawless. My opinion of it? 4/5 Definitely would watch again with friends (and my kids when they get older).
Makes sense with Cole Young having the same mark as Hanzo Hasashi which was teased in the trailer as he is the descendant of Hanzo Hasashi. Hiro Sanada does not look 60 years old to me even though he is in real-life. He was born to play Scorpion/Hanzo Hasashi and same goes with Joe Taslim born to play Bi-Han. Shirai Ryu vs. Lin Kuei. Love the transition shots between Hiro and his stunt double back and forth fell in sync so perfectly.
If that's true that Cole is Hanzo's descendent, then that might be how they get to do a MK 11 homage by having a young Scorpion doing the fighting in the main conflicts while also having an equally badass older Scorpion training the next generation of Shirai Ryu and (eventually) the MKX Kombat kids.
@@lombax316 The reason I say that is Bi-Han says he eliminated the Shirai Ryu Bloodline but Harumi Hasashi hid her baby daughter in the house. So Bi-Han is unaware about Hanzo's and Harumi's daughter being alive. Hence the bloodline for Hanzo is alive starting with his daughter who will grow-up and have a family throughout generations. Also the marking that Hanzo has on his wrist is the same marking Cole Young has on his chest which they showed in the trailer several times already. Interesting enough Lewis Tan looks a lot like Hiro Sanada especially with the face.

Then, we only see Scorpion again in the last few minutes of the movie with no in-movie explanation for how he returned, and uses only two fire attacks for the entire movie, compared to Subzero who used dozens of ice attacks every chance he got. Buuut the fight choreography was still awesome, the cast did an amazing job, he made one hell of an entrance, and all the fanservice moments were dope. So glass half full here

"I...Am...Sub Zero" still sends chills to my spine. That line is so Cold!!! Sub Zero was so intimidating in these first 7 minutes.

This is prop the second best fight in the movie, right behind the Scorpion vs Sub Zero. Sadly most of the fights are way to overedited, but these 2 fights are really good.
@@arizu6065 that's an issue with loads of films. The haracters will do really cool moves and I love seeing it practically done. However the enemies will just watch but fif the action looks great then I don't mind😂

Well actually the Sanada were a famous Samurai family during the sengoku period. Maybe he is related. Check out the Japanese taiga series Sanada Maru.

Now this is what I call a live action.
Hiroyuki Sanada is an amazing actor. I have so much respect and admiration for this actor. First saw him in a TV series called "Uchu kara no messeji: Ginga taisen" when I was young (I'm almost 50 now). And I absolutely loved his character in the Last Samurai. Can't wait to watch this.
The moment Hanzo yelled Bi-Han, I was hooked on instantly, I knew this movie is going to be badass, emotionally charged, and accurate to the games with the fatalities. LETS GO!!!!

Don’t, the rest of the movie was crap, this is the best acted scene in the whole movie, the rest of the acting felt like the actors were reading off a script, and the plot and dialogue are so poorly written they felt cringe most the time, scorpion is basically not in this movie after this scene until the end fight,

This action is what I hope Shang-Chi feels like. Just minus the blood. As a big mortal Kombat and anime fan I am really hyped for this and the demon slayer movie. This is going to be a hell of a double feature

I still can’t believe that we got Joe Taslim and Hiroyuki Sanada as subzero and scorpion. And look what they did in the opening 7 mins alone. Amazing acting talents these two
I love what they do with the kunai. Any ninja fans will know that that style knife is originally designed for farm work and thats why ninjas often carried them as it made them in conspicuous

I always feel bad for Scorpion. His backstory always starts with the death of his family.
This so far feels made by people that both enjoy and know the series which makes it look really good. I honestly can’t wait
A real missed opportunity this should have been the whole movie this would have set the foundation for mortal Kombat and future installments to come but instead we got this convoluted showcase of characters after the opening scene and really you find yourself thinking what happened to the movie that I watched in the beginning because it's not the same after those seven minutes.

This looks like a very promising movie. Love that the director and rest of the team really used the r rating to push boundaries and give us the mortal kombat feel from the game. I really hope this movie does well so we can get a mortal kombat cinematic universe.

That transition from opening scene to preview at the end was ACE.
You know, I kind of want to see a full blown series on these two and their back story. For being two of the most iconic characters in the franchise, we haven't exactly gotten the best depiction of their story that wasn't also tied to some serious cheese.

It’s better than most video game movies, but they went way too quirky on some of the voice lines... and even say “flawless victory” made the whole epic scene terrible finishing it with that

Any MK fans will love this movie mainly due to so much fanservice. BUT. The fanservice only happens when the action begins. Not when they're exchanging dialogues. Which is why it's satisfying.
This movie tells a different story entirely yet it's also the perfect movie for anyone who has never played MK. Took this opinion from my wife for it.
As for the Fatalities: Flawless.
My opinion of it? 4/5
Definitely would watch again with friends (and my kids when they get older).

The longest movie trailer I have ever seen till the end, with no skips
Makes sense with Cole Young having the same mark as Hanzo Hasashi which was teased in the trailer as he is the descendant of Hanzo Hasashi. Hiro Sanada does not look 60 years old to me even though he is in real-life. He was born to play Scorpion/Hanzo Hasashi and same goes with Joe Taslim born to play Bi-Han. Shirai Ryu vs. Lin Kuei. Love the transition shots between Hiro and his stunt double back and forth fell in sync so perfectly.
If that's true that Cole is Hanzo's descendent, then that might be how they get to do a MK 11 homage by having a young Scorpion doing the fighting in the main conflicts while also having an equally badass older Scorpion training the next generation of Shirai Ryu and (eventually) the MKX Kombat kids.
@@lombax316 The reason I say that is Bi-Han says he eliminated the Shirai Ryu Bloodline but Harumi Hasashi hid her baby daughter in the house. So Bi-Han is unaware about Hanzo's and Harumi's daughter being alive. Hence the bloodline for Hanzo is alive starting with his daughter who will grow-up and have a family throughout generations. Also the marking that Hanzo has on his wrist is the same marking Cole Young has on his chest which they showed in the trailer several times already. Interesting enough Lewis Tan looks a lot like Hiro Sanada especially with the face.

This was the best part of the movie. The gulf in quality between this and the rest of it is VAAAAAAAST
Then, we only see Scorpion again in the last few minutes of the movie with no in-movie explanation for how he returned, and uses only two fire attacks for the entire movie, compared to Subzero who used dozens of ice attacks every chance he got.
Buuut the fight choreography was still awesome, the cast did an amazing job, he made one hell of an entrance, and all the fanservice moments were dope. So glass half full here
