    Finally, a useful tutorial on risers. Nearly every other one I've looked at here are less than useless.

      Agree. What a PITA. I bought a house with a broken irrigation system so it's all new to me.

    The blue Orbits are great for launching sprinkler heads. They are worse than worthless, considering the damage they can cause. I've had two fail in less than six months. Luckily, I was standing nearby and cut off the water that was blasting into my ventilated soffit.

      I agree, they are garbage. I put in 13 and three have failed so far within 3 weeks.

    Please help, I use the blue riser and it seems to work. My problem is before replace the soil, I turned on the system to adjust the spray and I realized the hole quickly filled up with water. Is there a leak at the joint? I did all 9 of them and see the same thing. I tied them as much I could. I used a cup link and the blue midsize riser you had in your video. Is this normal?

    Not sure why but this video seems to be the only video on UA-cam that only plays for 30 seconds and then buffers indefinitely. I really want to watch it as I'm purchasing all new sprinkler components and this one seems to be the only good video on the interwebs. I have tried over the course of a week and I got to 2:20 minutes so far. Is there any other place where I can find it?
    Thank you

      Hello, thank you for your note. We just tested this on various devices, browsers and connections and were not able to replicate the problem. We have submitted a case to UA-cam to see if there is anything on their end that can be done.

      @@orbitsprinklers thank you. I'm not sure what is up with that. Its across 4 different devices on 2 different networks plus verizon data. It looks like the video doesn't like my account. :-(

    Hi, is the 1/2" coupling shown/described called "1/2" PVC coupling"?

    Is there a 3/4" male to 1/2" female adapter?

  • @ninaashton9829
    @ninaashton9829 5 років тому

    I am wondering why you would choose 1/2" vs the 3/4" risers when doing a brand new mainline.

    • @orbitsprinklers
      @orbitsprinklers  5 років тому +1

      Hello. We would recommend never using 1/2-inch for the mainline. Usually, 1/2-inch is only used for risers. This is because most sprinklers are threaded for 1/2-inch. Some larger sprinklers are 3/4-inch and can be used with 3/4-inch risers or 1/2-inch with an adapter.

    I have a sprinkler tha thas a 1" inlet. Would I I need a 1" x 1/2" adapter to install a 1/2" riser?

    • @orbitsprinklers
      @orbitsprinklers  5 років тому

      Yes, this is likely the case. Such might be tough to find as we don't usually see changes from 1/2-inch to 1-inch. usually it's just 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch.

    I cannot get it threaded after I cut it like that
