I can 2nd that restaurant in sunshine, that tomatoes and rice dish is the bees knees 10years ago we lived off it. Even my kids loved it and back then it was so affordable. Thank you to Declan for sharing this with you....
Because of your review I have to go and try it. I've never really given any other suburb a chance because I live next door to Springvale but now I will venture out. Thank you very much 🙏🏽
You guys have to please try “Bula Bites” it’s located in the western suburbs… 614 Ballarat rd. It’s Authentic Fijian food! Sooo good! Lamb curry and chicken chop suey is a must!! Hidden gem in melbourne!
I’m from sunshine in melbourne and Bula bites is about 5 min away from me. I take the kids for a feed and the tuna curry roti parcels and the curry chicken was delicious!! Highly recommend.
Ok, Sunshine is a do-able location from where I live in Western Victoria. we have Banh Mi here but they don't put pate on them. Now I want Vietnamese food!
Lane I love your videos however may i make a suggestion? Pls chew with your mouth closed and less chewing/mouth smacking sounds, sorry otherwise the vlogs are great
@@LocalEaters Nope. If it hadn’t been for Pho888 in Station Street in Box Hill back in the day and they’re still going but I don’t think their broth is as great as it used to be. Just love Viet cuisine tbh. Filipino through YT.
Bro lets try Quang Vinh restaurant in St.Albans (10 mins from sunshine) their food will make you drive to the West everyweek. I reckon they have the best diced beef on tomato rice, you should also try their salt&pepper squid and salt&pepper quail.👌
This's a great video, thanks for sharing it. But I believe the second dish isn't the Bun Bo Hue as it looks like Bun Rieu to me. Because Bun Bo Hue does not include tomato, fried tofu and crab meat loaf (mixture of egg, mince pork and crab flavor) like the one you ate. The restaurant might serve you the wrong dish, but it still looked good though.
Thanks for the great food adventure! Can’t wait for the next one 🙌
So good 👌
Just started watching your videos, it popped up a few weeks ago on my vids. Nice video 👍
Thanks for watching 🙏
Looks delicious... going to have to try ... springrolls which ones were these on the menu
Yes those were amazing! They were just the traditional fried spring rolls.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised! The whole street is worth exploring.

That definitely sounds like a place to try out. I've never had Fijian food either. Thanks for the recommendation.

How can you not have patee in banh mi! Such a vital ingredient. Selina's should be on your list to visit
"do you have BBH?" "yes, we do" .... ..serves the man a Bun Rieu instead 🤣
Haha either way I was very happy with the meal
You have to try the bakery next door THANH LAN has better banh mi, and DONG BA next to THUAN AN specialises in BBH. That's where the locals eat.
Damn so many good places to visit, I will definitely try next time!

Ah, yes - I was almost gonna mute the vid at some point. The smacking noises 😵💫. Otherwise I'd wanna continue watching
Haha 😅 I noticed that when I was editing the video. I'll try my best next time. Thanks for the feedback.

I think Filipino and Vietnamese cuisines are very underrated.
Hard to find a Filipino restaurant around the east of Melbourne. Any suggestions?

@@LocalEaters I really think Springvale needs more love in this climate. Love special beef pho - tendon is so good and healthy.
U must live under a rock as there’s nothing under rated about viet cuisine

Ooo yes I'll keep that in mind for future episodes. What do you usually order there?
Those dishes above plus lemongrass & chilli beef on rice, salt & pepper chicken rib on rice, also their BBH is quite good too.
Ooo yes a rice dish would be good. Like a solid broken rice.

Haha they may have but either way very delicious.
Deep fried rice paper rolls, Gha Gio are the best 😊
So good!!
Dong ba in footscray hot the best BBH
I've heard good things about Dong Ba
@@LocalEaters try it out the one in footscray is #1
Oh you resited Thanh Lan!
Loved it
Bun Rieu
Yeah he gave us the wrong order but still delicious 😋
Deer Park also has good Vietnamese food.
Anywhere in particular you recommend?
I don’t think that’s bun bo hue you ordered. Think the staff gave you bun Rieu which is tomato And crab based soup
Yeah I thought it was a bit tomatoey but it didn't have any crab meat or pieces of tomato like bun Rieu. However I do love bun rieu
the "barn me" sounds ripper mate.
Yes it is right up there compared to the best of the best!
Lane are you single, just asking for a friend 😜
My girlfriend is in the videos 🙂
Oh my god, banh mi with onions !?!
Yes, just adds a different element of tasty
