Early 2000s early in the week had to get home to watch Biker build off- the bike I seen was on fire. What a great time to be alive. Watched every episode as it came on TV. Thanks, Billy.
Life changing bikes, Life changing people, Life changing builders, Life changing times. U helped put respect in just being a biker at a time when real bikers needed it. You,Indian Larry, Perewits,Jesse,Sugar Bear, and way 2 many more 2 mention brought that into the industry of motorcycles the right way brother. Thank you....
Billy I was about 16 when BBO began and it got me absolutely addicted to custom bikes, you and Indian Larry played a huge part in influencing my own projects. Thanks for sharing this story!
Was a legend , Is a legend and always will be a legend. There will only be one Billy Lane and this is who he is. Honest , dedicated and straight up. 100% fan.
It was so great watching skilled craftsman build one of a kind masterpiece motorcycles. You and your craftsman inspired me to buy used bikes and experiment with fabrication. Thank you Billy, thank you professional builders that inspire us all !
I remember when this show came out and I was probably 10-12 years old. I fell in love with the custom bike stuff and even though we weren’t old enough, we built multiple custom mini bikes in the back yard. So many fun memories and builds, all inspired from guys like billy, Joe Martin, Indian Larry, and Jesse James. You guys inspired a generation of enthusiasts, thank you for being an inspiration and a lifelong memory of my childhood!
They say you never want to meet your idols. Billy ended up being the exception to that. I have always looked up to him, and I found him to be very entertaining. I went into his shop in Melbourne Florida during Bike Week in 2005. I don’t see him, then he walked out, and I thought, “there he is”! He went right to working on an old Indian. He worked on in for about a minute, then he came over, and talked to me for a while. I’d have felt like a jerk asking for a picture or autograph, so I didn’t. He was so kind and fun, and I remember thinking, this guy must talk above everybody. He is so smart. He went through a rough patch later on, and I had read Chop Fiction a couple times, so I reached out to him, and he took the time to hit me back. He’s a one of a kind, and I love his Bushido way of life. He does one thing, and he doesn’t stray from it. I love all American v twin bikes, and guys like him keep it alive. God bless Billy. 🤘🏽
Because of who you are, a very talented, yet humble and appreciative guy that you not only still have a following but are respected today! Can't get enough of your videos, you are the very essence of what made America so great! Hard work, dedication, can do attitude and ability to learn as you grow! Thanks for all those life lessons and inspiration! Be safe!
I watched every single one of those Biker Build-Off shows and got so many ideas from so many different builders that I currently have half a dozen different designs in my head and in 3D render form that I'd love to build myself if I ever got the money.
Man I can't believe that much time has gone by since those shows. I loved watching those. So cool to hear about the adventures. Thanks for sharing all that.
I remember watching the shows and that episode with my wife and boys.... this really brought me back watching this smoking a cigar...... for that I thank you! This was an awesome behind the scenes.
I was working at Disney's California Adventure in 03 and a guest got off the roller coaster I was working on and he wore a Choppers Inc. shirt and he told me all about you and how awesome your choppers are. When I saw Biker Build Off w/you against Borguet, I was hooked.
Can't wait for the Indian Larry episode. One of my favorite TV episodes of all time. When Larry was asked what's in it for him he responded "True friendship and brotherhood is worth more than any trophy or money in the world."
WOW!!!! 20 plus years! It seams like yesterday. Other than the birth of my daughter, son and now….granddaughter! The best times have always been on 2 wheels.
Billy. Just want to thank you for your work. You impacted me so much as a kid. Watching this when they came out made me a part of who I am today. The love for bikes is heavy in my heart. Thanks again. Stay well my friend.
Hard to believe that’s it’s been 20 years. Just for the record Indian Larry and Billy Lane were my two favorite builders during biker mania. Miss Indian Larry.
I watched probably every single episode of Biker Build Off, and I had a subscription to The Horse Back Street Choppers magazine and have a bunch of magazines with you in or on the cover or Indian Larry. I loved the chopper scene back in those day.
This is why Billy Lane is my favorite builder. Very well grounded, respectful, appreciative and generous to name a few. We’re here with you man. Keep ‘‘em coming
My dad is Donna guidry brother. Mike guidry is dead now. That party is his backyard shop at Mike's house. Mike was my uncle. That video in his shop gives me the goosebumps brother. Thanks. I remember when he built that house. Church Point, Louisiana.
I can totally relate to what you are saying about the bayou and interstate 10 , in some places you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere and you look out into the bayou and whats there ? a little house perched in the middle of the swamp , somebody's living out there !
The Biker Buildoff shows was a Huge shot in the Arm for many bike builders who were not mainstream,,, and it developed a large wave of followers the motorcycle family never experienced,,, Many Kudos to BL, and the Icons who brought this experience to Americana as a whole... Keep doin what you're doing Billy Lane!!! Thanks.... CFL.....
The episode of you vs Larry was my favorite build off episode. I always enjoyed when they showed how stuff was made and I appreciate you still doing that on your channel.
I found out about Indian Larry through B.B.O. I was 7 years old then. I look up to his work today and I love each one of his bikes even now. So, thank you for these insights, videos, and stories, Billy♥️
TAKES ONE HELL OF A BROTHER TO TELL THE STORY YOU JUST SHARED 💯 % REAL & RAW 👊🏼👊🏼 IT DON'T MATTER WIN OR LOSE , IT'S HOW YOU HANDLE YOURSELF THAT MAKES YOU A WINNER ☠️ W / R 😎
I really miss those shows. A lot of those folks are gone now, but I really think they changed a lot of lives. I started riding motorcycles in the '70s, working on them professionally in the '80s and teaching folks how to work on them in the '90s. Motorcycles are still the biggest part of my life. Thanks for the great memories (and the behind the scenes look)!
so strange to see a guy i look up to talking to guys he looks up to. loving every peek behind the scenes of biker build of dude and have you noticed the chopper thing coming back at a grassroots level yea i blame you Billy Lane your the man
Me and all my buddies would get together to watch the great biker Build-Off. I wish the craze would come back. Everything comes in cycles... Pun intended
This was great. Thank you. Back in the mid 90s I was flipping a lot of bikes. When the show came out I gained a lot or unexpected respect from a lot of people for what I was doing. My personal bikes have always been black. I started picking up purple gas tanks at swap meets and throwing them on the flip bikes. Those purple tanks sold those bikes quick! Ha ha ha! Smitty
Your a legend another biker buildoff anyone upcoming would be a privilege to ride next to you ..... I have seen an talked and enjoyed Rick Fairless Strokers Dallas very cool 😎
Billy you brought the younger guys into the realm. In 04 I built a 12” over hard tail with a 124” s&s with BDL open primary. I had the Jesse James tank and of coarse I ran Billy’s Whisky bars😎😎
That’s funny how he waited till the VERY end to talk about the seat! Lol! Great videos Billy, brings back some good memories for me riding around LA with my buds around that time. Broke as hell, with our bikes being pretty much unridable and in the shop most of the time!
We really need to get something like this going again. It was the very first reality type show that showed the world what kind of different kind of builders that were out there. Plus it was interesting and educational like some of the other viewers have said.
I liked Biker Build Off because we had to ride those motorcycles a very long distance in a time when many builders were creating expressions of style that were not primarily meant for riding. It made what we were doing real.
Dude I love the reminiscing of that era! It was the absolute best! It’s also cool that you are humble and speak so highly and respectfully and all the guys that were such a big part of the era also. Keep up the awesome content it’s awesome to watch these trips down memory Lane . No pun intended lol .
Hey Billy I met you at Laconia around 2005-6! Have watched many of your vids! Always informative! Especially this one! Hope you keep them coming cause they are great just like you! Keep the rubber side down!- Charlie P.
You are a tremendous inspiration Billy! Down to earth, humble human spirit! We have been following you through TV and magazines since the early 2000's. I brought my youngest boy to the Javits center in NYC where we met you and so many talented builders. I still have the autographed Choppers Inc. T- shirt! Thanks for all you do. Ride on Brother!
I was born and raised in Brevard County and came of age in the 80's and 90's. What a blast that area was back then. From Titusville down to Melbourne. So many fun rides and places to party. It sure has changed alot.
Watching you on biker build off as a 10 year old boy changed my life. I was just drawn to you and would watch your episodes on repeat trying to learn from watching you pound out gas tanks or chopping fenders or welding. Because of you I became a fabricator/welder and love what I do. Just wanted to say thank you and that I love these UA-cam videos you put out.
These videos where you go back and narrate to give more in-depth knowledge on what was going on are dope. Been a fan of Billy and Choppers inc ever since.
I watched All of the Biker Build off shows from the first to the last one. You guys ( all builders ) included do incredible work. I am amazed by the workmanship and the beautiful paint jobs. I am into paint and chrome, and you guys never let me down. I loved watching you (Dave) lay out the flames on your tank. I don't know how you do it so well but they looked Fantastic. Billy,I don't want to leave you out. I am a big fan of you also.
I watched these back then as they happened. I can't believe its been 20 years. Time flies so fast it's scary. Don't wait another day, if you're reading this, live your life. Take action. You will blink and half your life will go by. We don't have the time we think we do.
Ms behaven Jesse's first CFL Church of choppers S&S 3 baddest bikes ever built imo that suck ms behaven got wrecked! These shows inspired me to build a few of my own choppers. What a great times those were!
This was so fantastic to watch!! I still have my Tshirt from the Melbourne shop right after this Build-off, that I came from Indiana to get. Met Billy and Nick. We were stoked! I couldn't believe when Billy stopped working just to talk with us and take a pic. Thank you for all of this.
I live in South America, this series was not broadcast here. I always have a crush for choppers, so , one day as I was waking on an avenue I randomly bought a chopper motorcycle magazine, Iron Horse, the cover with a certain Indian Larry and his greasy monkey chopper caught my attention. That's how I learned about those chopper builders. Some time later, without knowing about the series, I downloaded them by chance from a torrent, and there it was, Billy Lane vs. Roger Bourget, I couldn't believe the gem I had found, it was perfect, even today I watch it from time to time, music, everthing is legendary. And later Indian Larry appeared , man I really couldn't believe what I had discovered. I really lived biker build off as if it were a soccer world cup. Billy Lane and Indian Larry (now a legend), thank you man. Is good to see you back in business
Much appreciation about the stories and I wish I could of met Larry. You and Jesse got a chance to show the world what a amazing craftsman he was Thank you
Thanks for sharing Billy.. bring back the dreads man.. LoL..your builds were always new age style smooth sleek body lines and can go for the long haul..💪🏼
Thank you so much for this content Billy…..I’ve shut this video off 3 different times cause I don’t wanna watch it all in one sitting. This era and Billy are why I build the motorcycles I do today. Billy’s humble enough to never take the credit he truly deserves…..a legendary builder and even a better man.
And i have been a billy lane fan since that series aired all the way back in the mid 2000's...and it was only because of thay show i was able to see those bikes...
Watched every biker buildoff. Been a huge fan of yours since the beginning. Was lucky enough to meet you at smokeout 20 and get a pic with you. Thank u for the great builds , inspiration and always being 100% .
Billy no doubt your not perfect. But, im sure glad your around. Just by accident last year I ended up behind/next to you in sturgis. It was early morning I was going down to randys cycle shack to get my oil changed, so about 8 a.m. . I pulled up behind you at a light headed in to town amd you killed your bike when the light turned green. Because of that I noticed the swingarm on your spinger. Then I realized it was you. I rode with you all the way down lazelle. I really wanted to say something to you at a light or stop sign but I figured you would appreciate your peace, especially first thing in the morning. Not only was that a highligjt of my 2022 sturgis trip but, it was one of the best days of my life. I can say I rolled through sturgis with Billy Lane. You might not have known but, Ill never forget it. I remember alot of biker build off. Never forget when you debuted the hubless bike back then. Thank for the years of entertainment and beautiful bikes. Wish you the best !
Man I seen time's on the first shows, where you looked totally exhausted I guessed because of the time restrictions given to the builders. It was truly a pleasure to watch each episode, and those were truly an awesome time to be introduced into the biker scene.
Huge Fan of you Billy! Loved the episode with you and Dave and I loved you and Indian Larry's friendship! I was in my late teens with no motorcycle when I watched you guys, now im late 30s with a bobber-ish Fatboy!
Dave Perewitz is the man. Glad to see him doing good. Bitchin video Billy. You are definitely a man of many talents and mucho knowledge. Pure awesomeness
Billy Lane i live in New Zealand and i watched those episodes. Im a carpenter and liked looking at choppers, sure but dont know a thing. But i was mesmerised watching you develop complicated shapes on sheet metal then bending and forming with your hands using your own strength. I thought this guy is an artist and pouring his heart into this. In a fast growing one dimensional digital age, You produced a truly bespoke hand built graceful looking machine. You told your story well and made Classic television. And the colour burnt orange looked crazy good in the rain at night rolling or stopped roadside. Twenty years ago eh? Niceone mate.
2000 to 2007 were my favorite years.... these biker shows were the best....
Early 2000s early in the week had to get home to watch
Biker build off- the bike I seen was on fire. What a great time to be alive. Watched every episode as it came on TV. Thanks, Billy.
Not only was the show entertaining but also educational in my opinion

That Billy Lane seems like a real humble fella, he does incredible work, miss those shows
Huge Fan of you Billy! Loved the episode with you and Dave and I loved you and Indian Larry's friendship! I was in my late teens with no motorcycle when I watched you guys, now im late 30s with a bobber-ish Fatboy!
I love listening to the old war stories :--)

Two modern day Michaelangelo's building Art on two wheels. Love there shows!
Can't believe it's been 20 years! Loved hearing the story behind the show.
I don't build bikes or ride em...... but I really looked forward to each new ep.!!!
George and the blue chopper .. RIP and a really truly clean bike, the night riding shots are awesome .. a lot of us ride and party at night
