I've Been Searching So Long - Mongonucleosis (Chicago VII) Two Song Drum Cover

- Now this could be a revisited drum cover, but actually I never played Mongonucleosis with I’ve Been Search So Long like Chicago always did in concert in the 1970 & 80s. So this was a first doing a segue song too! This song is a favorite of mine from Chicago even though the song’s tempo is fluid. It’s apparent that Danny’s drum fill’s influenced the string arrangement! Also I would believe he used a “bigger kit” to cut this song just by listening to the album cut, but that’s up for debate with @tate_berkey someday! 😉😂
Lastly, this song has a very spiritual side in the lyrics that I connected to as a child. So I’m choosing this one today!
I hope you enjoy it again! Ths song is played as close as I can play the song to the original, but its still me tryin to be Danny! That 17 year old kid always come out playing Chicago!
Chicago VII is the sixth studio album by American rock band Chicago. It was released on March 11, 1974 by Columbia Records. It is notable for being their first double album of new material since 1971's Chicago III and remains their final studio release in that format. It features session percussionist Laudir de Oliveira, who would become a full-fledged band member for the release of Chicago VIII the following year.
"(I've Been) Searchin' So Long" is a song written by James Pankow for the group Chicago and recorded for their album Chicago VII (1974). The first single released from that album, it reached number 9 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It also hit number 8 on the Adult Contemporary chart. In Canada, the song peaked at number 5.
Background
Cash Box said that "this dreamy, progressive ballad [is] reminiscent of...Yes and the Beach Boys with that definite patented Chicago drive," and also praised the "sensitive musical execution and slowly intensifying vocals."

@@jameslyons1661 thanks for the reminder Jimmy! I need it! Thanks for watching too!
Earl, I just don’t understand what it is, but you just keep raising the bar for yourself higher and higher, and you keep clearing it by a mile each time. This two-song combo cover is a top shelf product. Your pocket play is tighter than a freshly washed pair of skinny jeans, and your chops are grade A certified.
You are like a fine wine. You just keep getting better.❤️🙏👏👏👏❤️🙏👏👏👏❤️🙏👏👏👏❤️🍷🍶🍷🍶

Never heard Mongo before,... that was cool!! Great big fills here,...loved it!!🥁😎👍🥁😎👍
@@jametz66 Jeff, Mongo… was the song after I’ve Been Searching on the album that it segues into. I think it’s named Mongo for the great percussionist Mongo Santamaria! But I don’t have any confirmation on that one! I always loved the drum orchestration here by Danny! One of my favorite Chicago songs!
@@earldrum ....that's a great one!!!!

Awesome! LOVE Danny Seraphine! You got his sound! I remember being 12 and trying to get my blue sparkle CB700 Percussion kit to try and sound like that! LOL! Thanks for stirring up some great memories!
I researched that CB 700 educational kit.....in a Yamaha case? ( snare and stand )
CB 700 snare on reverb used for $195
Must of been a smooth kit in the day!
@@edwardkaminsky8142 I had a 4 pc It was a Christmas gift from my parents so Idk how much it went for but looked like early pearl drums same lugs and mounts.
@@edwardkaminsky8142 the CB 700 drums were MIJ (Made In Japan) drums of the early 80s! Except … now they were made in Taiwan or China not Japan! Usually Luan Mahogany wood with cheap hardware and probably made by Pearl back then!
@@charliecontrino1626 Charlie everyone starts somewhere! That’s awesome!

@@bentol86 thanks for the feedback Ben! 🙏🏻🤘🏻😎👍🏻
It is appearent Earl that some of your renditions do require those sweet 6" and 8" toms and do they ever sound superb. 👍
@@edwardkaminsky8142 thanks for watching Edward! I always heard high toms in this song! But you see that today! 😎😎😎😎👍🏻🤘🏻🙏🏻
