The beauty of this road is not the switchbacks but the Pacific Ocean laying just ~20 feet away (if you miss a turn your car will likely be in the water). It's a shame the camera was not pointed a little to the left so we culd see the real beauty of the ocean .
You aced this one, ScrewdUp!!! Great scenery (mountains meet the sea), dangerous road, hairpin turns, steep cliffs, music with a beat perfect for the sense of drama. This one'll be tough for even YOU to outdo in the future.
Awesome. Thx. I did the PCH from Cambria to Monterey on my bike a couple of years ago - brought back memories, mostly good. The tailgating yo-yo's, well, those are another kind of memory... Why anyone would want to rush on that road, I dunno. Got somewhere to get to fast? Take the freakin' freeway, foolz. On the PCH, slow down and enjoy the scenery - and the twisties!
Wow, that was scary & cool! I made this trip in the late 70s with friends in a blue VW Bug. lt hasn't changed a bit. Everyone would be passing me if I was driving because I would have to go slow. This is a wonderful series!
Very sweet ride. Going to drive it in August - I cant wait! No power steering tho....that's going to be a beast on that road. But im still looking forward to it!
@ScrewdUPClickV2 A 5 or 6 speed manual car is good for a road like this with a lot of twists and turns. You have more control of your speed than an auto. Anyway another superb video! I enjoyed it and looking forward to the rest in your series. PCH is probably my favorite highway in California.
This is a great scenic highway..I would take this route only if i were'nt in a hurry to get up to the bay area....Lots of blind turns may cause a lil hesitation...And based on how many times you got passed, you were taking it easy. I don't blame you...hahahaha.......
I noticed you got passed several times... but I only point that out because you were doing the right thing by keeping your speed in check. People have to be out of their minds to be traveling a road like that at a high rate of speed and trying to pass people around blind corners, etc.
Good music. Also reminds me of the mountains of Mexico going south from Laredo to Puerto Vallarta. Some Mexican drivers are fucking crazy too. When I was down there, all the roads through the mountains are just like this: I saw one guy driving a semi truck fall off the mountain. I think he was fine cause he fell into like a little ditch area. It's fun driving roads like this, but those people went way too fucking fast.
A lot of spots in this road are exactly the kind of road I joke to a friend of mine about - ducttaping roller blades to her feet, then pushing her down the road [evil grin]
Just got back from the PAC 1,love your camera work. How did you do this vid?Was someone else shooting while you drove,or did you use a camera bar. Only complaint, wish it was slower, the beauty of this drive goes by much to fast.Won't even comment on the music.Congratulations. As for people who think they can drive the Pac 1 like an asshole, let them,we can scrape them up late and build a roadside memorial to shithead drivers.
Oh for fuck sake I keep hearing everyone say how insane or whatever that road is. It's nothing. Well it looks fun on a bike. It ain't the only long switch back road in the world though.... Tryng meeting an 18 wheeler on US129
That is one bad-ass road! fun video to watch, thumbs up!
Should be everyone's bucket list.To drive this, what a kewl road.
good series

#OMG so nice road, thanks for the upload :)
Very smooth video, considering the terrain. What method do you use to secure your camera?
Good music.

what kind of a vehicle are you driving?
It's Big Sur by the way, not Big Spur.
