    3:15 I feel like bogged dropping regular arrows in addition to tipped is intentional, since the stray also does that (presumably so that if you're farming them you can get regular arrows in case you want to tip those with something else)
    So now I'm wondering if they'll add a way to convert regular skeletons into bogged, since they added something like this for strays with powder snow

      I wouldn't have much clue for how skeletons would convert to bogged, but I have an idea how bogged could convert to skeletons! As zombies turn to drowned in water, husks convert to zombies in water. Perhaps submerging a bogged in water would wash away the scum and convert them to a skeleton.

      Imagine if they stay in mud for too long, which i believe is the same height as a soul sand block, which they could also create a proper sleleton like that as well for the soul sand valley

    4:51 It's not just glass panes, wind charges can go through any non-full block, and this was confirmed to be a bug. They can travel through soul sand, walls, fences, closed trapdoors, honey blocks, etc etc. as long as it's not a full block it goes right through it. Likely we'll see this fixed in the very next snapshot.

      I thought the patch notes of this snapshot said that one of the bugs fixed was "Wind charges can't go through non solid blocks"

      I think they should repurpose that mechanic as an actual feature. It shouldn't be able to go through glass panes (obviously) but it would be so cool if it could go through Copper Grates, Leaves, fences and fence gates, etc. because its made of wind and would be able to pass through the gaps.

    We now have the Bogged, but yet no Minecraft Bog biome. I have been saying for years that we need a Bog biome or something akin to it that makes better use of near-surface waterlogged tunnels as its own unique form of environmental challenge.
    I’m a huge wildlife biology nerd and have visited an actual Bog with wild carnivorous plants, and I can tell you exactly what the difference is between a Bog, a Marsh, and a Swamp.
    Bogs have essentially zero waterflow, which is why they have such a low oxygen and high acidity content in the water and how you get dead things being preserved as Bog-mummies. A Bog doesn’t have actual fully-solid ground underneath your feet, it’s just a few-feet-thick layer of Sphagnum moss and floating dead plant matter, and then beneath that is water going much deeper. Stepping on that stuff was like stepping onto a huge wet sponge.

      ooh, what if Mojang add a block that looks similar to the moss block but a bit different, but this block you would be able to fall thru like powdered snow, maybe even make it another bucket block like powder snow, and then if a skeleton suffocates/drowns in this block they become the Bogged, it would be cool.

    Probably the reason why the bogged dropped regular arrows is probably their drops behaves similar to strays and skeletons.
    Really cool type of skeleton.(even though I still like the wither skeleton more)

      It’s pretty obvious they just copy and pasted the skeleton code and changed a few pixels of the skin. Which is great, but it would be nice if they added more skin variations to all the mobs while they’re at it, since all the coding is already finished, it’s just a matter of whipping up some new pixel designs, which they could easily produce dozens of with very little time or effort investment.

      @@timohara7717 which is another piece of code thats not particularly difficult to change. the mob acts exactly like a skeleton does, if its AI were completely different it would be more understandable why they don't add more variants.

      I agree there should be more variants to be honestl, especially for the spider and creeper. Having a brownish spider in the desert or a greenish spider in the jungle would be cool (the slight modifications could even be that the jungle based one is an off shoot of the cave spider, being poisonous and small, while the brown one, I think it would be neat if we got a spider that could inflict the wither effect, akin to how the brown recluse has a necrotic venom)

      Yeah, they’re not coding a new mob from scratch, the base code has been finished for well over a decade. Adding variants should be one of the easiest and least time consuming additions you can possibly make in this game, but the value of this for the gaming experience would be pretty huge.@@fusionwing4208

    I've been having troubles signing in to the feedback website, so I can't submit my idea myself, but with wind charges being able to go through glass, it made me thing of iron bars. I think that wind charges going through iron bars and/or copper grates would be really cool.

      That makes sense to me- they're not solid, they wouldn't actually block wind, and might not even dissipate it. Gives a good use for them

    I'm actually both incredibly impressed by how well its balanced in terms of what it does but also that mojang even added a new non-niche hostile mob

      And honestly I really like the idea that every major biome could have it's own variant of a common enemy. Like* snow biome having strays (skeleton with slowness arrows) or desert having husks (zombie that inflicts hunger)

      Probably in the top floor, though, to avoid them from accidentally triggering the tripwires of the dispensers, either killing them (unlikely due to poison healing them iirc), or depleting the temple’s supply. Although making them bypass mob detectors like tripwires and pressure plates would be a really neat feature for some niche farms.

    I feel like this is a great opportunity to have "quicksand" or "bog tar" in swamp biomes. Basically a similar feature to powder snow. You fall through it (and drown instead of freezing). If a skeleton drowns in quicksand, it becomes a bogged. You can pick it up with a bucket just like powder snow, and it looks very similar to normal mud, so it is easy to miss in the swamp.

    Its nice to see some new variations of existing mobs, think it fits better with the various biomes, specially since villagers are biomes specific too. Kinda ties it all together.

    I also think the amount of poison the bogged give you should be dependent on game difficulty, trail chambers would actually feel like a good challenge.

      Skeletons with the poison arrows were by far the most challenging mob in trial chambers before, but now they’ve become so much easier. I agree

      I totally forgot the updates are supposed to have a theme around them, it feels like ever since caves&cliffs every update they are all just "random cool stuff that got left out of previous updates"

    I'd love to see other mob variants of already added mobs similar to the stray and husk. Imagine brown spiders in the deepslate layer and the give you blindness when damaging you similar to some dangerous spiders in real life.

They're also the most iconic mob, which makes me question why they haven't touched on it. I'd love for them to be more dangerous due to players having to look and listen to different signs of them in the area.

    I feel like this might not be a case of "Mojang Listens" but rather they meant to do that from the start and the skeletons with poison arrows were placeholder. I found it quite weird that there were just randomly skeletons holding tipped arrows in offhand as one of the enemies. Still a cool addition though!

      In addition to this, poison skeletons are already a thing in minecraft dungeons, and look similar to the bog skeletons, so that seems to be one of mojang's main sources of inspiration in this case

    I did some testing with the wind charge, and with good timing:
    -A single jump can clear 7 blocks
    -You can jump even higher by sneaking, which can clear 10 blocks
    -And with Jump boost 2 you can clear 12 blocks with a single jump!

    Mojang should really implement a series of new skins for all the mobs, including passive. It’s been 15 years and we still only have 1 color of pig. Adding some skin variety would be a very low effort but high reward addition.

    The Bogged is really cool, but it’s not really a new mob, it’s just a skeleton with some pixel changes. Mojang could easily implement a whole series of new skin variations for every mob in the game, passive and hostile, with very little time or effort. The mobs are currently far too repetitive. Even something as simple as a few new pig and mule skins could add an immense sense of variety to the world and value to individual mobs, and would require very little time or effort on Mojang’s part to implement. It would be a very low effort high reward addition. The game could really use the variety.

      I agree. Sheep skins are kind of set due to colors, though they could probably still implement some variation in texture with each color. But I wouldn’t call sheep a priority for this, since they already have some variety. @@forrest6939

    Btw xisuma, if you use the wind charge just as you jump, not when you reach the highest point, you get boosted up much higher.

    i would be COMPLETELY fine with the wind charges passing through blocks like fences iron bars or copper grates but i think just specifically not glass panes since there are no holes for the wind to pass through. ironically

    Always love new hostile mobs, doubly so for biome specific mobs. However, I think the Bogged should spawn in Jungles. After watching Luke the Notable's Jungle 100 days, it just shows how much work that biome needs.

    Minecraft needs to add different variants of mobs and blocks. The game needs change. I think we need chests made of different materials, concrete stairs, monster variants for each creature, etc. I think the game has been updated enough and it's time to increase the variety in the game.

    I love the bogged, I like how it feels very much so like it's own mob and not just a very slightly different skeleton with the less health and slower shots. Hope the Husk and Stray get a similar treatment, because atm they don't feel that unique. Think the stray should have more health but probably slower shots and the husk possibly move slightly faster but have lower health?

      @@Cinnay11 Ah if they already have a certain way in dungeons that makes more sense. I just thought since kinda raggedy and dried out they would be weaker, but being faster would be more interesting to be more able to hit you and give you hunger (thus kinda slowing you down).

    The fact we are in such a dire spot with Minecraft that a video is made saying "Mojang listened!" when they added a reskinned version of a 15 year old mob is so depressing.

      Now we simply need 15 more variants of skeleton type mobs that shoot different tipped arrows, with 11 of them being somewhat friendly. Arrows of weakness, arrows of harming, arrows of decay (wither), glowing arrows, arrows of blindness (the illusioner) are all mob variants that could have been added at the same time, making, with the bogged, stray, normal, and wither skeleton a total of nine different variations of skeleton before we get to baby variants, and the pillagers with crossbows.

    I love the idea of different mob variants for different biomes, i’m gonna list off some mob variants that i think would be pretty cool to see.
    Desert spider - A spider only found in desert biomes, like normal deserts and badland deserts. The spider could have a special ability, like leaping at the player to give itself a boost, or shooting webs at the player to make them temporarily slowed.
    Jungle creeper - These creepers would be found in the jungle, it has a smaller appearance compared to normal creepers. These creepers would also have a special ability, maybe it could be more sneaky than a normal creeper, or it could be faster than a normal creeper.
    Cave slime - These slimes are only exclusive to caves. If you are mining, you will want to be careful about which ores you mine from. These slimes can have the ability to disguise itself as an ore, like coal, iron, gold, diamond, and even emerald. If you hit the slime while it is disguised as an ore, it will jump out towards the player and begin attacking. These slimes have more health than a normal slime, if you kill this slime, it will give you 2 pieces of the ore it was disguised as.
    I still have more ideas for mobs, but i think this comment is getting too long.

    I think many have forgotten about the stray but honestly since Minecraft dungeons we’ve wanted a proper poison skeleton and I’m glad they made these more swamp than jungle and made a new model for it at all instead of using the dungeons one

    4:08 it's jump and shoot at around the same time to go like 18 blocks into the air
    Also you can use them as elytra boosters if you time it right

      You don't need to go out of your way to find problems with it, its basically out in the open but the wind charge and the skeleton are a good start.
      The bad outweighs the good

      What are the bad things hm? Cause the update isn’t finished. And mojang is clearly trying to make this a good update. Even if it’s not *everything* you want. Doesn’t mean it’s a bad update.
      Everyone wanted breeze rods. Which made no sense because the breeze has no rods like the blaze does. And also all of the ideas that people kept giving for breeze rods are significantly worse than the wind charge. Which is why mojang isn’t beholden to every single thing people want. They really do care.
      The wind charge is so unique and creative. But it’s still not enough? What does it matter if we don’t get *everything* in this update. You’re getting more next year. Again. *For free.* And maybe even stuff in the smaller updates after this one.
      Mojang isn’t the problem. The community is. (Not saying that they are completely in the right. They’ve still messed up a couple times.)

Copper blocks that are meh, but shouldn't be considered a major feature especially since copper itself was introduced not too long ago, tuff bricks are lazy and ugly, we don't need ANOTHER set of gray bricks. Copper bulbs which WERE really good until they were nerfed for literally no reason, Armadillos are useless and bad because we don't need another source of scutes and the wolf armor is barely functional, trial chambers that are a complete joke in terms of difficulty and mediocre loot, on top of trial keys being reobtainable but not vault loot. Breezes are probably the most original and good part but their animations violate the art style along with the armadillo. (Also they do have rods).
      About the breeze rod part that's true, but way more often than not does the community come up with better options, like were goat dropping horns that don't even do anything the best mojang could come up with????
      "They do care" I could maybe believe that if they hadn't squandered so many opportunities with features
      It's still not enough. For every great feature lately like calibrated sensors or wind charges they're still surrounded by mediocrity.
      "What does it matter if we don’t get everything in this update. You’re getting more next year." I'm not saying we should get EVERYTHING in an update, I'm asking that they don't dripfeed clearly unfleshed out slop.
      "You’re getting more next year. Again. For free." Yeah, most likely low quality like the last four and again price does not determine quality.
      I don't know how you could look at Mojang's long consistent history of lying, poor communication, overdelivering and mediocrity and say that the community is the wrong one

    That's a really cool texture. Quite a nice combination of old features that weren't used much so that's always nice.
    Speaking of old features that aren't used much, I hope they change fire charges so they're like wind charges.
    Another old feature I'd find interesting if it were to return would be to have a Bogged trap. It's basically a skeleton trap but it's the Bogged on zombie horses.

    Everything added here just seems superfluous. I just started playing a 1.8 world (never played this version before) and something I've realized is that theres nothing really lost. Besides elytra flight (which seems way too op now) and observers (a 9 year old feature), there's nothing that's really different about the game.... yeah, there's less blocks, but new versions don't really seem to have any features that are necessary. Speaks to the "quality" of modern additions when they're basically all just decorations or things you do for 5 minutes and then never do again.
    Reject modernity; embrace tradition.

      Side note: I'd read on wiki about how rabbits were in this version, but it was a huge shock how different they actually encountering them.. double the size, don't run away, spawn way more frequently, and are kinda like pets?
      Way better than post 1.9 rabbits and the fact that they drop a potion ingredient, leather, and meat just makes them infinitely better than any modern passive mob like the goat or the llama.. that just exist and are essentially useless to the player.
      Without the elytra and with how fast your hunger drains from 1.0-1.8, horses became useful. This is the first time I've used them properly and I've gotta say it's alot more enjoyable. Rip the horse who drowned under the ice!

      You could literally tame them, but "you cant tame rabbits in real life" so Notch pulled that, also Killer Rabbit used to spawn naturally too

      Maybe if they're the only mob? I've basically never brewed a potion that isnt Fire Resist, the Leather is utterly useless unless that's your ONLY source, and the meat again i rarely ever use, especially when fish are RIGHT THERE :V
      Hands down i'd put them in the "useless category" with Goats and Llamas

      ...horses are still useful with Elytra present? It's only a problem when you literally rush the End as fast as humanly possible rather than taking your time. You dont NEED to do so, it's just convenient (not to mention you still need to build a whole Gunpowder farm to even fuel it)
      What *absolutely* kills Horses is the combo of Elytra rushing and Boats. Alongside the fact you literally cant ever get past any body of water without slowing down MASSIVELY. With an extra rare Skeleton Horse, you can ride in water, but you're still slowed. With a normal horse? Cant even ride, have to use a Lead. Truly great for exploration when Rivers and Oceans are everywhere
      Of course Minecarts are dead, but that's pretty much a given considering Horses, Boats, and Elytra all exist, with Boats just being The Better Minecart. Even to the point putting a boat IN a Minecart allows you to actually drive it around/increases it's top speed vs Powered Rails.

      How is a mob that has meat and potion drop as useless as a mob that sorta drops items that make noises and the mob that's a worse donkey?
      No; a lot of the pre-1.8 stuff is pretty fundamental and it being random doesn't mean it's not a core gameplay feature.
      You think horses are useful with the elytra around? I've seen zero people (outside of that hermitcraft season where they forced themselves to use horses) where anyone has even used them. It's also not that hard to get an elytra or to kill creepers.
      All my horses can either jump across the rivers I come across or then can jump to the middle and swim to the other side in a few seconds.
      Boats being overpowered is a 1.9 thing, so I duuno what you're on about. I don't think any of that is possible with 1.8 boats. 1.8 boats can drive exclusively in the water, and even then boats are not better minecarts in 1.9.

      If you need food, go punch fish, there's EXTREMELY high odds you spawned somewhere near a river or ocean. Hop in, go punch fish, put it on a campfire. It's more readily available and far less of a pain in the ass to get than Rabbit Meat.

      - Oops! All Clutter! (Diorite/Andesite/Granite) (1.8)
      - Slime Block (1.8)
      I'm being very, VERY generous here.
      You could honestly cut this down to like 1-3 things at max...
      There's a dumptruck more, but most of it is "we desaturated wool" or "here have a new wood type" or "new structure" (eg Desert/Jungle Temple, Desert Well, Mineshaft, ocean monument), or Iron Golems. Or Emerald Ore/

      Yes. How do you explore without Elytra or an Ocean? You arent handed it before you rush the End.

      It's not hard, but it's definitely not quick and easy either...
      You have to build a Nether Portal, find a fortress, kill endermen/blaze, travel 1000-3000 blocks, kill the dragon, find a city with a ship, ideally get a Mending Villager, and then build a Creeper farm (worst case involving having to go grab a bunch of cats) to have a non-zero amount of Rockets. And an XP farm to repair the Elytra.
      Compare this to horses:
      Find a Saddle, find a Horse, right click with empty hand, repeat til you get passable stats.
      This is now your fastest means of transport (up to 14 m/s at best) outside of a Boat Highway (approx 70 m/s) or Elytra (33 m/s) on land.

      Well yeah, if memory serves, 1.8 Boats are the old type that explode into sticks the instant you touch any block, being even shittier than Minecarts.

      Oh they ABSOLUTELY are.
      You forget that Packed Ice exists.
      And again, put a boat in a Minecart. The Minecart, while in the Boat, now reaches 9 m/s vs 8 m/s in just the Minecart. You no longer require powered rails to move.
      This ALSO doesnt factor in an old 1.9 bug where, if you place a boat over a torch or such, in a 1 block trench line along a flat surface, you would basically fly when launched with a slime block piston. There's no turning, but you dont even need to press any buttons, also achieving the "automated" transport of a Minecart too.
      Boats being overall infinitely cheaper and better than Minecarts in (nearly) every way, with a higher top speed, and even more versatility....

    Shift jumping gives you more hight with wind charges, you can clear a 11 block wall by shift jumping with a wind charge. very hard though. Jump boost makes it easier, +1.5 hight per level while shift jumping, so 14 blocks is the max in vanilla as of now I think.

    Definitely a pretty cool addition, now they should work on actually implementing swamp villages. Or maybe make normal swamps something you can find without the locate biome command... or add an item similar to the mod Nature Compass.

    I'm a swamp witch in my current survival world. When this update comes out, I'll be able to farm poison arrows, and then those pesky phantoms will taste my poisonous wrath!

    I like the bogged, but since we’re getting dog armour in the update, maybe mojang will finally add alternative dog breeds/textures?
    Imagine dogs that are better for combat, or can help you retrieve items when you mine like an allay but different enough to justify?
    Imagine a dog that helps you round up mobs?
    So many possibilities, I don’t even care about these ideas tbh, i just want more dog textures.

    We definitely need more hostile mobs. We’ve been asking for new bosses/mini bosses for a while now, and I think that’s great. But we also need so many more little guys and variations like this to make the game a little more fun

    I love how creepy it is like it got reanimated in gross swamp water and it took appearance well to also camouflage in it's environment, I can't wait to encounter it and get jumpscared by it too, now that you mentioned the mushrooms in it's skull is now giving me clicker vives

    Finally! Hope this paves the way towards more variants like we have seen in MC Dungeons. Perhaps more variants on the tipped arrows for like burning in the desert, extra damage in nether fortresses etc.

    I think it would be cool for the wind charge to open doors,trapdoors and gates. It would make for some cool red stone possibilities using observers and the block updates from the previously mentioned blocks!
