Had to come back to this. Watching Patti and Nona sing this without Sarah was 🥺 Rest in Power Ms. Sarah Dash. Give them their flowers while they are here to enjoy them.
this is such a beautiful song that Nona wrote back in the 70s. it is such ashame this group never got a grammy award back then, and that Nona got the acclaim she deserves even to this day.
that was beautiful. I never knew until now that this song was about Janis Joplin, who I have never listened to like that but, alos heard through other singers that she (Janis Joplin) was good. That's how you can tell that all three of these women were feeling the song because it was for Janis Joplin!!! Now i get it. And those women STILL sound so beautiful as if they're voice never "aged". You can tell that they take care of their bodies. That's how they can belt them notes and hold them. Good God!!! It's amazing to me how they still have those voices from when they were younger and just brings you right back in the day when they first sang/performed this song before i was even born, and i'm 35 years old. that is crazy. they got some lungs!!!
A song written for Janis Joplin by Nona Hendryx. Beautiful song for a fantastic singer who left too soon. “Nightbird” (a tender tribute to Janis Joplin, apparently) and the frankly unbelievable, sexually charged “You Turn Me On.”
And yesterday's a thought, unwillingly caught, in a mind where there's nothing to gain she feeds the fire for the flame Nightbird flies not by the light of the moon Nightbird flies not by the light of the moon
@iboudiop Man I am just so happy to have heard these women do this song again that I don't even care. This is one of Nona's greatest songs. Captures Janis Joplin's live-for-today, to-hell-with-tomorrow essence perfectly.
Nighbird fly by the light of the moon makes no difference if it's only a game released, relived just for the day It's a nightbird's way she sees, she scores, she stores nothing away Tomorrow's a dream, running out of steam leaving bits and pieces in her way She lives the day before day (Nightbird's sky is never high enough) she only touches down just to feel her wings again laughing, crying, all the way hear the nightbird' pray She lives, she dies, she files nothing away
dr. Sarah dash really look like me. free, down willing,bless and beautiful just Like me. and I say bless you Jesus for creating this all girl band once again.
She Ms Sarah has flown to be a forever night bird safe flight my love 💕💕💕

She was a featured guest at church in DC on Sun. March 8. She talked about her career, sang a song and met with fans after the worship service.
damn just like it was in 1975.How do they do it?
You're welcome--but I just realized I made a mistake. The correct lyric is "leaving bits and pieces in her wake..."
@Wantable the orginal is posted here on youtube.
@DollPjTay if you type in Labelle Nightbirds. It's the second video that comes up under mine by LaBelleOfTheBall.
@DollPjTay I don't see it
@DollPjTay caint find it....:(
Did they do any Bluebelles songs?
None
They opened the show with "Miss Otis Regrets" from the Bluebelle era.
Why Patti got on those big-ass shoes? I love this song, but not this version of it.
