Hi Mike. Used to grow ww in southern Alberta and we always lost ours when we had a mid winter warmup and it broke dormancy then turned cold again. Snow cover made very little difference. Being trapped under ice in spring also kills it
good morning mike , nice to see your still given it. we all deserve to have a break no worries smile and be happy . spring really not far off . enjoy the slow time soon you will be very busy .
Glad you back, I live in south Mississippi, ya’ll’s weather got drunk and went adventuring and dropped 9inches of snow on us. Make sure you keep an eye on it next time haha
I really enjoy your videos. In the 60-80's I dry land farmed in E MT raising, wheat, barley, Triticale, Spelts, and grass seed. I really enjoy modern farming videos. My 7700 JD combines cost $44.5K a far cry from the $750K of todays S series JD's.
Enjoy your YT-break as long as you like. We* will happily watch any video you want to release. *I assume that we - as in all your viewers - are happy whenever you decide to publish a video and not just I. Edit: -23°C - I would love to have that here at my place. Care to send a cold front across the pond? 😉
Winter wheat goes into dormancy stage and stay that way until spring. The danger is in the spring when it is going through freeze thaw cycles and the little hair roots break off. I have lost more than one crop of wheat winter that way
Nice to see a new video from you. Please get somewhat rested up in prep for the spring rush. A few random videos DEFINITELY is better than no videos at all.
Hey Mike, you know that the snow protects the plant against the cold. It would be awesome if you pay attention wich part of the field has bigger cold out plant ratio. :) best wishes Attila
Good hearing from you,, hoping family doing great...got a question, looks so barren up there, do you cut down all trees or is that the way land is.. God be with you

See you back in spring. do then a follow up over these fields. It's intresting to see your experiment with the winter weat. Ty for the video.
We haven't had much snow in Wisconsin either. Our wheat usually survives without the snow cover but that snow is nice for spring moisture.
Thanks for the update,

we use shovel drills on 12 inch spacing on open ground to create a ditch for the wheat it helps collect snow and protects from wind

Thanks for the update. Greetings from Dundalk, Ireland

Your wheat will be fine
Nice, to see some green.
Thanks Mike ! happy new year
Thanks Mike
Thanks. With no snow cover the winter kill must be terrible. We have seen that in Ohio on soft red wheat. Appreciate the video.
happy new year mike hope you have a better year crop wise fingers cross for you
I agree with you glad you back Mike
Good to see you... Stay warm😂
My dad had a crop get burned off at the top of the ground and it came out of it. It made 70 bushels that year.
Nice to see another video!
From my experience in Europe its not frost that kills wheat. Its cold winds blowing over fields without adequate snow cover that will damage plants
Thank you
Just so you know, this is not showing up in your regular UA-cam feed.
Love these videos !.
Thanks, that's because it hasn't been released to the public yet. 🙂
Patreon always has extra perks
South central Minnesota - No snow at all..... only 1.5" cumulative so far but it all melted right away.
Micheal is back!!

Any new tractors or machinery coming home for spring mike
Quit driving through your stressed out fields, adding to the stresses, pushing frost down.. lol.. it will be fine, don’t worry
Good news, Mike is back. 🤗 Maybe in 2026 a quadtrac 715, or a big deere, or in 2027, or in 2028
Good to see you again. Be careful videoing your speeding on your windshield 😂
