Real Fresh who’s to blame? Please tell me, white people? Oh boo hoo white people to blame as always. You know since the civil war, when racism was actually alive, many aspects of quality of life for black people has actually gone DOWN. You know why? Because of this blaming, victim mentality. Back in the 1960s the rates of black children with fathers was down by 71%. Why is this? Because a majority of blacks people rely on welfare, the welfare they get much easier if they are not married. It’s this mentality of blaming rather than raising children right, and stopping black on black crime and taking RESPONSIBILITY for the issues within the black community rather than blaming. Stop blaming white people for leading better lives when the black communities need to start working from within. It’s important to teach children to get education, graduate, buy properties, marry people they love. Because this isn’t being taught there is a cycle of violence, this is evident in the fact that around 15% of the US population is black, but over 50% of the crime is perpetrated by them. with crime rates like these it’s really very obvious why black people find themself shot and killed by police. More crime = more violence. It’s really not about racism. Stop following what the media tells you and educate yourself. It’s important for everyone to lead the best lives they can, and that can’t happen when you keep trying to find someone to blame. Stop listening when the media tell you that the “system” is racist. What part of the system? The education part? As in when black kids are dropping out of HS in large rates? Who’s fault is that other then their parents and their communities mindsets? Please stop blaming and spread the message of education and bettering lives.

I have to disagree when they said the hoods should be built up before the downtown. Throwing money into the hood isn't going to make that city any money. It's a loss. Build up a solid downtown, create jobs, businesses, ect. and the money spreads outwards. Much of the downtown Detroit construction companies vowed to only hire Detroit residents, even train them for free, it was a legal part of the contract. Virtually. anyone can get a job in some kind of trade. Yet, the contractors could not find enough willing Detroiters to work and had to eventually find workers in the suburbs. Some people will just not take an opportunity and would rather just be a victim. Or be a rapper or drug dealer instead of getting up for a 9-5
Same thing happened in camden nj. They couldnt fill the positions with residence, or they quit, didnt show up to work and had to hire outside the city. Its ashame some people dont want to help themselves
I can tell u that the jobs in downtown aren’t being filled by the local community. The people form the suburbs get those jobs. Gilbert didn’t build the city for the people of Detroit. He built it for the ones in the outside.
THEBackpack 10 As a Canadian, it’s really not hard to comprehend what they’re saying lmao. People claiming they can’t understand them are just tryna get attention

The problem is that not enough people are on the same page. Not enough people who are willing to take responsibility and uplift their community. Great interview! This type of content is better than driving around. I especially like that you let these two guys talk without interrupting. Rare now a days. Stay safe Brother.
@@rhymeasylum2969 that's what i always think when i see those videos. Im from germany and seeing that many once nice houses is just crazy to me. When did everyone left??
iihks All the white people(the working class) left around the 1970s when blacks started to move into the cities. Almost every city in America looked beautiful in the 1950s until minorities moved in and destroyed them.
Why don’t the people who live in the hood take care of it instead of waiting for the city to do it? I’m from Detroit Born and raised back in the 90’s when I was growing up the community didn’t wait they were out cleaning there blocks, and had a good relationship with the police. Shit changed drastically smh
What made a big difference about that was they were home owners who had pride in owning their home and took care of their neighborhoods, landscaping, trash on the street etc... now you have out of town owners/landlords that are buying the homes for cheap and renting them out to anyone with a section 8 voucher, and that comes with not caring cause it’s not yours attitude, negligence for the house while renting causing damages and money being spent from the landlord from tenant to tenant, then the landlord look at it as a loss which it really is, and stop paying taxes, then the house is foreclosed on property taxes now it’s sitting there with open windows open doors to where the weather from the 4 seasons kill it. Now the home is close to not being worth anything because of the amount of money it needs, and that became a tsunami through the Detroit neighborhoods during the housing crash in 08. Now you have ppl that’s not even thinking about owning a home, prime example from the lofts/apartments being built downtown/midtown area. But the neighborhoods are slowly becoming gentrified like downtown. Think about it! Once those individuals decide to start a family they’re either going back to the suburbs to their parents neighborhood where they grew up, or buying a Detroit community for nothing making it flourish raising the value then taking it over, only good thing about that is if you owned your home no one can push you out your value goes up also, instead of someone raising your rent cause you live off the water and force you out. A lot of ppl love Detroit it’s so convenient for a lot especially ppl on the outskirts when they’re in the city, that’s why the children of the ones that were part of the white flight are moving back, and blacks are moving towards the half ass built homes across 8 mile towards the suburbs for what reason I don’t know they’re bringing everything to the city, quicken loans was first, now google, Microsoft and another big tech company is moving to the city I forget the third one. Just watch!! The population is already going back up towards the million mark.
It is amazing how techno (now a world music)was born in those neighborhoods. Music that is cleansing, invigorating, full of passion, love, transformation, gratitude & living in the moment. I'm willing to bet there are idle geniuses of all sorts that just don't have the opportunities many take for granted. Prayers up for these men.

I work in this area. I applaud these men for their honesty and transparency, especially when the Bio Major mentioned that skin color shouldn’t matter - AMEN!!! 👏🏻
These run down areas remind me of how the south end of Boston was at one time. In the early 1980s the city of Boston was trying to sell abandoned red brick residential structures for a mere $5000 but nobody would touch them. Only later when apartments for rent in Boston were hard to find did people begin buying in the south end. Today the south end looks totally different and not one building can be found for sale under one million dollars. Who knows what the future holds. That home those two are sitting out in front of might just sell for a lot of money someday.
Hi Charlie, it's so nice to hear these young men talk, it seems like they are (and want to be) on the up and up. I wish them all the best! It is true when I watch vlogs from other people doing Detroit that the government officials are just fixing up the things to make Detroit look good or the things that will bring in money. It's no fun living on the streets with no street lights. Most these people probably don't ask to live this way it's just there unfortunate circumstances. I'd really love to see Detroit revitalized!!!!! Great Vlog.
those guys are pretty cool and seem like they have a good head on their shoulders. Wish nothing but the best for them, hope they make it out of there. Also, Trump did just sign a bill to help rebuild urban communities (ghettos).
Trump signed a bill to help these people?? When and how? All Trump's worried about is securing money for a stupid border wall that won't keep all the foreign Latinos out of the US. He has shut down the government because he won't be receiving his precious wall. Democrats have been fighting him tooth and nail to make sure $5 billion of our taxpayer dollars aren't wasted on this nonsense wall. The $5 billion would be better off spent on repairing urban areas like this one in the video.
+R McElhaney Many Latinos like me (I'm a Mexican American Latina) support the wall. You are the one who is racializing it not Trump. He has said repeatedly that it also serves to help stop the inflow of drugs, rape and forced human trafficking and people of various ethnicities also using its porous nature to enter illegally into the U.S. But just like the recent urban renewal eo and the passing of criminal justice reform bill, the fake msm virtually ignores it so you won't hear about it. Like how they make up your own mind for you? They decide what's best for you because you aren't able to make decisions for yourself?
@@tlome8033 My Family watches MSNBC, NBC Nightly News, and The Stephen Colbert Show frequently. They are all against the wall. So is Beto O'Rourke. The money for the wall would be better spent to fix inner cities like Los Angeles, Oakland, Phoenix, El Paso, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and many others that have minority populations. I respect that you have support for the wall but folks of all races are better off with the money going to repair these dwindling neighborhoods.
+R McElhaney I mean your 1st sentence explains it all really. But we spend over $100B on illegal immigration yearly. $20B would be a wise investment along with border technology, visa reform and E-Verify. Inner cities like Chicago would benefit. For example, look up Cloverfield Bakery. Black workers called ICE on their employer and the result was 400 mostly Black workers from the community hired with a higher wage. You would have to be naive to believe that this isn't going on in other businesses in the area since they have to compete for workers and those who pay less for wages can charge a lower price to customers and have a comparative advantage over their competition.
Every time I watch one of your " 'hood tour " videos, I am always fascinated by seeing trash containers in front of obviously abandoned houses... or is it becoming harder and harder to tell abandoned houses from some occupied houses ? I guess that my ideas about ghosts and squatters didn't work... 😉😄😆
Aye Char long time fan of what yu do champ.. you should pin some info in the comments so ppl can contribute to your trips.. yu are bringing us home and showing a lot of people sites they would never see on their own..! The ignorance and fear I see in the comments is a window to why we have racial issues in America .. sad sad shit. Thank you fam and keep being motivation to our youngin family
These guys need all the support they can get. Strong + determined young men. 🌷And they are right about Detroit, it's suffered from gentrification donut-hole style. More Americans need to know the plight of many such American cities. Heartbreaking 😔
That neighborhood didn’t always look that way. I grew up there in the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000 and even in the 80’s and 90’s it looked a lot better. It was starting to get messed up but still not like that. It’s a shame. This is all Coleman Young and the Democrats fault and they praise him til this day.
Whenever I watch these hood videos, I think to myself that these people have never seen the real hoods of South/Central America, India, etc..., and also that these hoodlums, who are American citizens, can choose to live a better life because there are opportunities for them out there if they tried to look around or get an education. You have a choice in America, but you don't in other third world or authoritarian countries. Many people from other nations would like to take the place of these hoodlums instead of starving and dying on the street.
@@Eman1900O Racism does exist and it can also be subtle. However, there are ways to get around this barrier through the legal process in America. In other countries with authoritarian dictatorships, people go through much worse everyday and many of them die.
Thats the reason this country the way it is they only hear what they want to hear ignoring the positive to convey something negative then feel stupid when they become victims of crimes
What's up CharlieBo313? It's very sad to see such a once vibrant and thriving city in virtual ruin. The people who live here seem almost hopeless. Maybe (hopefully) one day circumstances will change for the better and Detroit will return to something like its past glory days. Shout out to Charlie for always keeping it real in his videos!

Women have always looked out for me and drove and spent money on me and a lot of them have their own houses and cars... So I been content on and off with this lifestyle. I always lived around the outside of Detroit. Like warren and eastpointe. I did a lot of dumb shit but lifes so short i realized it really would just leave me dead or in jail if i kept living life like i wanted to fight and shoot and only wanted women and money. But even now. My life's been about women and weed. I believe in God tho thats what fuks me up up. When i was 15 i was locked up until i was 17. And i read the bible to see for myself. And i had leaders in my life that helped guide me when i was in the juvie. A certain guy was 28 at the time and he helped me if i had questions about what i was reading. So i just know me and you aren't made to quit or fail or be afraid but we should seek knowledge and wisdom and know that if you try to do positive and think positive and flee from anything thats stopping you. I wiah i could help you more i wish i had connections to jobs and knew more so I could help. All i know is you cant give up... And you must not turn let your soul be corrupt and forfeit your soul to survive. I believe in you man I do. If I ever get a lead on jobs if thats what you need... Ill comment on here. If thats not whats up than i wanna hear what people could do to help you so maybe i can one day help you
@@jaybrick8973 idk where u live or what u do. But get any job u can. See who will help u. Move to 9 and hoover area where its cheap. Stack your chips. Move further out away from anything below 8mile. And whenever u do.... In between decide what u really wanna do and believe in yourself. Have faith in yourself bro. The hood is full of love with people who look out for and go to war against each other and any opposition.. Even friends and family at times. But you gotta escape and not dwell in one place because the world is so big. Just allow your mind to be open and able to see and consider new things. Every day is a new chance to change the future and you dont have to be who you were yesterday. Youre your own man and you can see into your own future... Now look and if it isn't where you want yourself to be than you have to use your own spirit and decisions to alter your own future from wherever it's headed. You can do though.

Unbelievable outstanding... these young dudes have good intentions for their own neighborhood even with the trouble they have to live with...

Hi
I respect those guys for doing what they're doing. So proud of them.
My heart goes out to them boy's....life seems so one sided.... totally wish these young men the best and hope they can stay away from the hate...keep the love
Dont just be on the negative, be on the positive like these young men..
It’s so awesome to hear the guy in the white jacket is in school and has a goal in life even though he’s been thru so much! He seems very kind hearted and wants things to really change! I wish the best for both of them!
Respect to these guys man, for what I’ve seen they hold a good name for themselves. His father would be proud of him ✊🏻
Mad respect for the man in the white jacket! Really opened my eyes on how to face adversity

Loved that one song the dude made called "You know what I'm sayin?" touched my heart...

Seem like solid guys. Definitely didn't expect that.
Or be a rapper or drug dealer instead of getting up for a 9-5
Bobby Kimble
In detroit you can get by not even paying rent lol
Same thing happened in camden nj. They couldnt fill the positions with residence, or they quit, didnt show up to work and had to hire outside the city. Its ashame some people dont want to help themselves
I can tell u that the jobs in downtown aren’t being filled by the local community. The people form the suburbs get those jobs. Gilbert didn’t build the city for the people of Detroit. He built it for the ones in the outside.
Best way to get out of the hood is leave everything behind. I don't care if you have nothing. Just go. You will survive.
CritiPwns Sr wdym? How do you leave if you have nothing?

I feel for these guys and it’s nice knowing that these guys have the charisma and ambition to make it out of the area they grew up to know their whole life. Imagine how much they will appreciate that. We as humans are capable to adapt to this type of living and survive. One day these guys will be able to leave their house and walk down a street and not have to worry about looking over their shoulder. Bless em.
The people that live in areas like this have experienced a very different America than most of us.
this video is so powerful, thank you!

Classified Info everybody is influenced by the environment they are brought up in, to varying degrees. At the same time, the environment is influenced by the people living in it. The problem is that not enough people are on the same page. Not enough people who are willing to take responsibility and uplift their community. I could be way off and speaking from ignorance though, I’m not claiming to be woke. Just my 2 cents
Great interview! This type of content is better than driving around. I especially like that you let these two guys talk without interrupting. Rare now a days. Stay safe Brother.

Still the worst looking hoods I've seen... All them abandoned houses and empty lots ... Yep
Baltimore looks ALOT worse.
Not at all
smitten kitten They were once so beautiful those houses..
I’m glad you actaully interviewed people cause it’s cool to see their points of views and how they think

The population is already going back up towards the million mark.
yea they should put things together and get funding for projects for young ppl to kerp them off the street it would create some jobs to

Thank you for bringing this to our attention! Ya needa see it for what it is ..
I really love this channel because it shows these parts of America that aren’t exposed to the media
Like they said, if we stop hating on each other when we up we can win together

Hi Charlie, it's so nice to hear these young men talk, it seems like they are (and want to be) on the up and up. I wish them all the best! It is true when I watch vlogs from other people doing Detroit that the government officials are just fixing up the things to make Detroit look good or the things that will bring in money. It's no fun living on the streets with no street lights. Most these people probably don't ask to live this way it's just there unfortunate circumstances. I'd really love to see Detroit revitalized!!!!! Great Vlog.

Mark Ole they claim racism holds them back even with affirmative action
Mark Ole You apparently didnt watch the interview the young man is a bio major in college
Traditionalist Tjis young man is a bio major in college so where did you hear him complaining about racism
