I started my career as a back-end developer and later switched to front-end development after completing my internship. Eventually, I transitioned to a business analyst role. As mentioned in the video, I also began my BA journey with BABOK. The main purpose was to build products through projects for small businesses. I faced a lot of challenges when I started without any mentor or senior guidance. I began solo and encountered many issues because everyone here has a technical, senior-level background. After working on multiple projects and gaining 8 months of experience, I now understand the value this job description can provide. Hi Prabhu - the best way to enter into IT at the moment is via a technical role. Entry level programming or report development. Python is a great skill that can help you get started as a Data Analyst. PowerBI is also a good one to learn.

Always best to start with your testing experience rather than trying to wait for that entry level BA role. It's more feasible to switch to a BA from a tester as opposed to getting an entry level BA role.

I have obtained certification in both DA and BA roles (IBM Data Analyst certification) & (Microsoft Business Analyst certification) I personally felt inbuilt quality to become a BA. I do have 3 years experience in IT as a Manual and Automation Test Engineer so, am I good enough proceed with transition. PS: I have obtained certification in JIRA, Excel and JIRA also hands on experience for 3 years and I am currently learning Microsoft Visio for creating UML diagrams. It would be helpful to me if you suggest few things other than what I mentioned. I have also done quite a lot self projects in Excel, power BI, SQL to showcase my skills

In addition to the skills you've mentioned that only other hard skills that I would recommend learning would be process mapping (this can be done in Visio), any wireframing tool (e.g. using Miro or Mural or Balsamic) - just learn how to do quick wireframes. Learn to write Acceptance Criteria and learn to write functional and non-functional requirements. Focus on softskills such as communication, being able to brainstorm and doing a mind-map, presentation skills, meeting facilitation skill (dont worry too much about these as these skills are usually developed once you move into the role - you will naturally get better at these skills). Hi - I'll be very honest and say I'm not entirely sure how internship opportunities are advertised in India. but based on what you said above - it looks like you are doing all the right things. just dont ever give up. keep pushing and take up the opportunity that you get. its easier to switch to a BA role at some point in your career. Ideally BA role needs to be in the office. Having said that we all had to be fully remote for a couple years due to reasons that are out of our control. Companies do prefer employees to be in the office for a min of 3 days a week. Look - BA role varies so much that certain BA roles can be performed fully remote, but if you are doing a feasibility study as a BA then you definitely need to be in the office/travel to sites, etc. This really depends on the type of project and the type of BA role.

Hi - such BA roles are mostly offered at Banks, insurance (health, house, professional indemnity insurance companies) manufacturing, engineering (e.g mining) and all sorts of other industries.
Hi - i would never discourage anyone from trying. With no experience I would suggest working along side a BA and then slowly taking on BA responsibility and eventually securing a role. I understand it can be a bit difficult to apply for a BA role with no experience. But please keep trying. 🙏

Hi - definitely don't need a degree to become a Business Analyst. If anything a certification is more than enough. Since you are already a full stack dev - you could look for internal opportunities to shadow a BA.
I have finished master's in UK - Data Analytics. Undergrad - Aerospace in CBE India. I am planning to take ECBA certification. How should I approach jobs? I have no work experience. Can I apply to jobs that require 1+years experience even though I match all technical qualifications and have done some personal projects? Or should I start with internships/junior roles? Hi Cibhi - I've provided my contact email in the description. I'd definitely suggest applying for any entry level/associate/junior BA roles that you come across. If your visa allows you to apply for internships then apply for interns as well. Getting an ECBA can certainly help give your potential employers confidence when hiring you.
Hi Bro - you can just do a Business Analysis course via Coursera to know what this role is all about. To be honest anyone can get into Business Analysis - just remember that you need to really persevere to get a BA role. Also remember that is 99% an IT role and you will be working as part of a team that builds or improves a software.
Hi - the easier way would be to get into IT (if you are from a non-IT background) via testing, support, marketing etc and once you get to know the SDLC process then you can easily switch to a BA role.

Hi - I will start with any role that allows you to work in a project team that delivers a solution to a business problem. It's often hard to get a BA role without prior experience. Other option is to look for graduate positions.

Hi - Business Analyst is definitely a good fit since you have the testing background. I'd definitely suggest getting into business analysis - with your MBA, you will have so many opportunities open up once you start as a Business Analyst. You should aim to switch to a management role eventually. Business Analyst is really the foundation for future roles. Depending on your interest you can go towards product management, team manager, business analytics manager, etc. This might depend on your specialisation and interest. Whatever is it is that you do - make sure it aligns with your strengths and interest.
Operations related roles are definitely suited to any gender. I think the BA pay scale is better. I think the scope is way better for a BA as you will still be involved with tech related projects. In this day and age I would recommend staying connected to tech. From BA you can easily switch to any kind of managerial roles - even ops related.
Hi Sathish - you are absolutely eligible for Business Analyst roles. Don't need a specific degree to be a BA. An engineering background would help when you work for any manufacturing/supply chain or mining domains.

I would suggest getting familiar with SCRUM methodology, Design Thinking process, do a short online training on Generative AI (databrics have a free training which gives you a badge).
Hi Muhileswaran - Typically companies that advertise for Business Analysts would prefer atleast 1 to 2 years of work experience, but having said that you can always look for junior business analyst roles and try to complete a basic certification such as ECBA to get an understanding of the role. Never say never and anything is possible, so always give it your best shot and don't be afraid to apply for a BA job as a fresher. Try for graduate positions/internships as well.

Focus on softskills such as communication, being able to brainstorm and doing a mind-map, presentation skills, meeting facilitation skill (dont worry too much about these as these skills are usually developed once you move into the role - you will naturally get better at these skills). Bro whether business analyst role can be done remote??. After your video its seems remote is not possible.
Ideally BA role needs to be in the office. Having said that we all had to be fully remote for a couple years due to reasons that are out of our control. Companies do prefer employees to be in the office for a min of 3 days a week. Look - BA role varies so much that certain BA roles can be performed fully remote, but if you are doing a feasibility study as a BA then you definitely need to be in the office/travel to sites, etc. This really depends on the type of project and the type of BA role.

Hi - i would never discourage anyone from trying. With no experience I would suggest working along side a BA and then slowly taking on BA responsibility and eventually securing a role. I understand it can be a bit difficult to apply for a BA role with no experience. But please keep trying. 🙏

Hi - definitely don't need a degree to become a Business Analyst. If anything a certification is more than enough. Since you are already a full stack dev - you could look for internal opportunities to shadow a BA.
I have finished master's in UK - Data Analytics. Undergrad - Aerospace in CBE India. I am planning to take ECBA certification. How should I approach jobs? I have no work experience. Can I apply to jobs that require 1+years experience even though I match all technical qualifications and have done some personal projects? Or should I start with internships/junior roles? If your visa allows you to apply for internships then apply for interns as well. Getting an ECBA can certainly help give your potential employers confidence when hiring you.

Hi Bro - you can just do a Business Analysis course via Coursera to know what this role is all about. To be honest anyone can get into Business Analysis - just remember that you need to really persevere to get a BA role. Also remember that is 99% an IT role and you will be working as part of a team that builds or improves a software.

Hi - the easier way would be to get into IT (if you are from a non-IT background) via testing, support, marketing etc and once you get to know the SDLC process then you can easily switch to a BA role.

Hi - Business Analyst is definitely a good fit since you have the testing background. I'd definitely suggest getting into business analysis - with your MBA, you will have so many opportunities open up once you start as a Business Analyst. You should aim to switch to a management role eventually. Business Analyst is really the foundation for future roles. Depending on your interest you can go towards product management, team manager, business analytics manager, etc. This might depend on your specialisation and interest. Whatever is it is that you do - make sure it aligns with your strengths and interest.

Operations related roles are definitely suited to any gender. I think the BA pay scale is better. I think the scope is way better for a BA as you will still be involved with tech related projects. In this day and age I would recommend staying connected to tech. From BA you can easily switch to any kind of managerial roles - even ops related.

Hi Muhileswaran - Typically companies that advertise for Business Analysts would prefer atleast 1 to 2 years of work experience, but having said that you can always look for junior business analyst roles and try to complete a basic certification such as ECBA to get an understanding of the role. Never say never and anything is possible, so always give it your best shot and don't be afraid to apply for a BA job as a fresher. Try for graduate positions/internships as well.
