Tried the new version a couple of months ago, and had to revert as it clearly wasn't as good as the current desktop version. I don't want a "simplified" ribbon bar - I want my speed folder shortcuts available all the time. Also want to drag an email onto the calendar to create a "meeting" either with myself to schedule time for the task, or a regular meeting with others. The new version couldn't do it. Hopefully this latest attempt will be much closer to the existing version (which is totally fine and doesn't need anything doing to it). My only concern is when MS inevitably forces us into their new "improved" version.
Might not do what you want but if you have the calendar on the right hand side you can drag emails to it and it looks like it will. I haven’t tried it just inadvertently dragged an email and it made the graphic like I could drop it there like an attachment.
@@zmanindy I'm going to wait until forced onto the new Outlook. My experience with it to date suggests that's the best course of action. Suspect it won't be my email client once they complete this weird project to worsen the desktop version to a web version experience!
@@chairmakerPete yeah I hear yeah one thing I miss is quick action to make a meeting notice from an email BUT put the email as an attachment. Great for putting things on your calendar that will require replying to said email.
Thanks Aldo. I had installed the new outlook and liked it very much. But I reverted back to the desktop version because it was missing some of the features that I was used to. For example, if I have an email in a folder and I reply to that email, the sent email shows in the Sent folder instead of the same folder where the original email was files. Another issue I faced was i type without capitalising the first letter of the first word of the sentence. The editor would do that automatically for me. I searched and searched but couldn’t activate this feature in the new outlook. These two are just some examples of features that are missing from the new outlook.
If I want to use the OWA I'll just use OWA. No need to disguise it as a desktop app. Another thing, in addition to those mentioned already, which this doesn't have, is the ability to drag attachments directly into local folders--something which is much more useful and important than any of these other "features."
This seems like a big feature that a lot of people miss. I think they’re giving users the option of trying the new outlook but not forcing them until more features move scross
I found a huge benefit: new Outlook integrates better with Google. In addition to getting Gmail, you also now get Google calendar and contacts that sync immediately. Old Outlook only allowed static calendar n contacts.

I tried it for a while, but there are still too many features missing that I use on a daily basis like pinning folders to the top , And for the life of me I cannot find my templates. For example when pasting a link into an email. Is there a way to turn on all the paste functions of the previous version? Thanks.
Thank you for this video. It was very helpful. I am not happy with this version and not sure if my organization knows what they are doing. SOOO many missing features. I don't have the toggle button to go back to the old version. I can't drag files to a folder. I can't find my email templates. Some of the paste features are missing. The option to recall an email is missing. I can't adjust the column with my files...so I can't really see what it says unless I hover. The search is better than the old version and I like that I can pin an email but so far those are the only positive things I can say about this new version. This experience made me soooo angry. I wish I never clicked "Try New Outlook" Big mistake.
When I switched from old to new outlook, I hated it at first because of the missing features but after giving it some time I do find it nicer mainly because of the improved load times. Odd you cannot revert back to old outlook, you might want to raise this with your IT team
Hi Aldo, I have a question. In myDay window, we can see all meetings scheduled for this particular day. Also, there we can see the calendar. So,I want to ask you if is it possible to insert also the calendar week number in that calendar? Of course, that is possible to do from the calendar itself. But this will mean opening the calendar itself each time when I need to find this out. Appreciate your help.

Hi Aldo, thank you so much for all the highlights. I haven't switched to the new outlook yet as "not anchored" favorites are deal breaker for me. I use a lot of folders and scroll through them all the time. Old outlook kept favorites anchored at the very top of the folder structure. The new outlook keeps scrolling even these favorites...
I won't be switching anytime soon. No support for *.pst files is a show stopper for me. Also missing is the status bar at the bottom, and the Quick Access toolbar at the top.
Features are missing. It's a stripped-down version of Outlook. It's like going back instead of forward. Also, add-ins are working differently and many are not working. e.g. Grammarly Office add-on is not working anymore. Also, signatures (created as HTML) that were perfect in the Outlook desktop app and were presenting perfectly on other platforms, are broken in the New Outlook. Also using custom fonts is not possible.
Hi, when I type really fast and get too confident with my speed I make mistakes while writing an email. Like other email providers, you will have a red line on a word that has been flagged. I’ve always click onto the misspelled word and corrected the word to the right word. Now…with the new outlook nothing seems to happen when the word has been flagged. If I click onto the misspelled word it comes up if I want to copy the word. Does anyone else know what’s wrong or are you too having the same user experience as me? Thank you.

What about those million Msaccess developers world wide, how are they going to integrate their code to send emails via outlook mail client using vba in msaccess? Do u know the kind of uproar expected if support for .pst is discontinued? Pls let us know what the Outlook team is doing in order to have .pst also running in parallel for Msaccess projects worldwide.
There is one thing that I cannot get. On my Outlook NEW, next to SEND button I cannot see any drop down menu, there is just one solid button "SEND", so no option to send scheduled emails. Can anyone explain why is that?
I agree with much of what you say are improvements to Outlook but I am forced to continue using the web calendar as New Outlook refuses to find either my wife's or our family calendar. This makes what is otherwise a substantial improvement considerably less so!!
The biggest problem is that this is neither a desktop app nor is it native code. It’s absolute garbage and if it has 200% of the features of Outlook 365 desktop application; it’ll still be worse. Sorry but there’s so much missing I’d have to make a half hour response video just to cover it all.
Absolutely not a fan of new outlook. Struggling even to send a photo from my PC in an email. Also, they have removed the very useful function of re-sending an email. Everything else is re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic IMO. Back to old version for me after wasting toomuch time on thos version.

I think there are still a few of those features to move across which is why they’re giving people the option of running both versions at the moment

the biggest drawback is that they entairly removed desktop alert feature in new outlook which was very helpfull

It does not have font size slider on bottom, which I like very much, for this reason I returned back to the normal desktop app.

New Outlook requires OWA to be enabled by Admin .. many company’s has disabled OWA as a protection.

How do I move the extra title bar buttons to the right edge like Edge - they are in the way of Actual Tools Title Bar buttons.

TBH, did not like the new Outlook at first. Now that it's just part of web based 365 at my organization, I find I use it more and more.
Same but after using it for a year or so it's gotten pretty good
The only thing that is a deal breaker for me is the lack of a dark gray theme. It's usuable otherwise.
The new Outlook is 100% better than the old Outlook, Microsoft needs to bring the same features from the Mac OS version to Windows.

PWA still lacks important features from real Outlook. Here is one: the setting to put forwards or replies in folder where originating message is.
