One of the best heavy equipment units I’ve ever had was a Cat 950 exactly like the one you grabbed here in this video. This was one of the last series of machines that weren’t made from ANY recycled metal. It was all dirt metal. The REALLY good stuff. I was religious about keeping it perfectly lubed at all times. I used to regularly strip out/off the grease that got loaded up with sand and dirt particles and would refresh the grease. Same diligence was performed on all the hydraulics and the engine and that friggin thing NEVER left me hanging. It was a rock solid reliable beast. I sold it to a landscaping company that had adopted and have kept up the same elevated level of preventive maintenance I did for that unit. It’s now literally 20 years later since they bought it and they still use that thing as a primary piece of job site equipment. I loved hearing that to this day they have never had a single maintenance issue that has shut the machine down in the field and from that example I presented to them of what sort of service life you can get by never neglecting the PM on the 950, they now do that same thing for ALL their equipment. Pretty cool!! 😎😎😎
I’ve seen a lot of crews work together but the amount of knowledge, engineering and actual balls of steel your team has is second to none!!! That attitude for success that is instilled in your team just don’t stop!! Every member does his part and quite simply you all ROCK💪👊💪!!!
You should put massive strain gauges on all of your attachment points so we can see how much force is being pulled on everything when doing this crazy stuff.
I would never tell anybody how to do their job. I'm here to help. I fabbed two sets of dully axles that go under the tracks that make the excavator roll freely. I think that could help your cause!! Love the content my friend
We made a "slick" bottom trailer with a couple of duallys and I beams and some wood between for dragging tree stumps after a flood and it worked like a beast! Over all kinds of shit too, trees, roots, rocks and it floated on the mud when the wheels sank so it was kind of half sled half trailer, also used on the road for a couple of 35mi trip with some trucks the water took... Maybe something between your idea and mine would work very well in situations like this one!
Sparks has a great command presence, he treats the crew great, and gets in there and isn't afraid of doing the heavy lifting, or getting dirty. He also doesn't dwell on what is, he jumps to violence of force and he knows the bruit force he can bring to the table. This is a great team, his men follow, because he knows what he's doing. Another great video guys! It doesn't hurt that he can drive or fly pretty much anything, I'm still waiting for him to say, "I found a great deal on an F-16"! 😂
@@MacGyver2154Don't think these guys have to pay anyone for comments. If you followed these guys since their Diesel Brothers show you would know that they're more than capable doing what they do. Hello everyone involved with the recovery. Before the pandemic, I might have watched a few videos of your channel, but without the Blackhawk, I probably would not have invested much time into watching. I am so glad I was introduced to you when I had the time, because I would have missed out on so many adventures, entertaining stories, recoveries and just good old fashioned helping people videos that I now recommend your videos to my family and friends all the time. I have come to respect everyone there for the different skills they bring to the fun, the rescues and the recoveries. I can't believe with as much heavy recovery you guys have done you haven't fabricated a set of skis for tracked vehicles. Impressive what you do none the less!
@@slynn5138They did, and tried, but it failed in the snow. That was the D8 on the snowy mtn episode. Perhaps it would have worked on this terrain however. 👍
As long as I'm already trying to tell you how to do things😂... You guys need to make some "Tread Sleds" to put underneath tracked vehicles whenever you need to drag them out like that dead excavator. A couple pieces of 4x8 (or 4x12?) 1/4" AR plate with a few inches bent up 90 degrees down the length of each side, with a bunch of 2" holes punched down both sides to attach hooks, chain binders, etc.. You could make a set of long clevis pins out of 4340 steel that can be run thru holes on each side at one end of the sled to use as a curb stop to pull and seat the tracks against. You could use an excavator to lift each side of the disabled vehicle and place the sleds underneath it (preferred),. Then strap them all together with chain binders and drag away. Slicker than snot on a doorknob!
So true, sleds would be very helpful. But in this case, I was surprised to see that loader more or less skating across the surface. I had expected it to dig in. That says that the surface is more or less a gravel instead of dirt, which makes sense because it is in a river bed area.
Or some sort of trailer or buggies that are same height as the het wrecker, just winch the item up onto that and tow. Similar to how they got the cabooses rolling. I giant trailer for the het would be mean!
It's great to see the Dave's work together so well. Diesel knew when to stop pulling when Sparks stopped pulling him so there was no slipping. Whatever the deal with Sany is, they have gotten their money's worth out of it. Dave has admitted that he does these things as a hobby and he's not a professional at it and yet he's showing off how good this equipment is. If I was in the market for heavy equipment, I'd buy a Sany based on what I've seen these guys do. I love these kinds of videos and I'm patiently waiting for the next one. I know it's going to be good. I'm sure you guys have no problem getting employees, if I lived in the area I would happily work for you.
Seeing the SANY pulling the wrecker with the front wheels off the ground while it's towing a 60K# piece of equipment is insanity. SANY should just show that clip for their next commercial.
In all fairness the wrecker was doing a lot of pulling as well. It wasn't all just the SANY. It is an impressive machine, but remember it doesn't get the day in and out grind of loading big trucks all day while clearing for a building or road beds the way that many have to do.
I am glad you have great support from the companies you work with and these videos remind me of the old school sales videos were they basically thrash the vehicle to show how well it survives....now manufacturers don't want to show you those kind of videos . Great recovery and awesome content team

I'm an expert at moving heavy equipment and I would have done it differently, you need to hook the boom directly to the Pivot Point of the receiving machine and only use forward tension. Any extra stress on the gib only proves that you don't know what you are doing. It'll snap the input shaft if the spare tension isn't within spec. I'm sure you know this but remember the golden rule of ABUTWOAH...... that stands for "always be under tension when on a hill". That's saved me more times than you'll ever know. From one gib/boom operator to another..... always remember to "run the tension before the machine" I'm sure you'll know what I mean. God speed and happy tracking!
the craziest thing about what you and the crew do is you have been doing it so long together that you make it look like a walk in the park like it is just another day and it is for you with everyone working together as you do be safe god bless
I was thinking the same thing when D pulled Hunter's school bus off the salt flats and when he was dragging the telehandler down the mountain in the snow.
Dave, the M88 Hercules is the current US Army's tank retriever. It is the M48 tank chassis with towing and lifting ability. Any Army unit with one, may allow you to look the machine over. Lifting a dead machine and setting it on an axle, will allow movement with less force. A stone boat should slip across soft ground vs digging in. Most Army Engineering Units have some serious road building equipment. A tank retriever trailer will carry 60 tons across soft ground.
Another great recovery episode!! I bet cat would give their left nut to get the marketing Dave / his team provides. Those SANY machines GET it done! Pumped for the next episode, stay well

NOT finished yet - Wizard swinging across the cable to the other side of the river being a "monkey gorilla" having fun, while HEAVYD struggles to pull in tow his load up the river stream. That was really tricky tugging and pulling - you have to know what you are doing for entertainment. It made it even more difficult with the back wheel blades of the crane not able to rotate but dragging would be hard on the SY265C LC SANY but she did an awesome job well done SANY - you little BOY TOY bigger than your brothers LOL!!! When it comes to old Iron, I don't know how much more he'll want to take on, but Matt over at Diesel Creek here on UA-cam rescues repairs old iron, get's it running and working well, and either keeps or Flips them. You guys should develop a track sled for times like these when you have to drag. Something with less resistance. Picture a J laying over that could hook the front of the tracks with the bend part of the J. Then chains or mounts could be thrown around the tracks to keep it from sliding off.
I was thinking something like that with small wheels on it like a air plane landing gear maybe 16 tires on a big C frame 4 on each side of side of each track like old style roller skates heavy steel connecting chain them on roll it away
Man the power of your Sany excavator is amazing. I can't believe that it was able to pull not only the Hep but also that huge dead excavator. Your videos are always excellent and very informative, there also fun to watch. You guys are great!! Keep up the great work and videos!

Suggestion: ALL of you men should have "GO BAGS" packed with the essentials you'd need to survive any field or mountainous situation. Not just things to eat, but bug sprays, snakebite kits, first aid kits, socks, shirts, undies, jackets, pants, shoes or boots, blankets, toiletries, toothbrushes and paste, gloves, hard hats, goggles, batteries, and telecommunication equipment. Often I see some or most of you wishing you had one thing or the other with you. You have to get your heads in gear and start packing everything you need for all situations.
@@dennisfondse1951 It would probably make more sense to carry toilet paper and hand sanitizer/cleaner. As far as the stinking gas they pass within one another's vicinity, there isn't much they can do about that.
Out of curiosity did you guys need to get a permit for crossing that creek? Can't imagine that fisheries would be too happy to see spawning beds destabilization like that. Great recovery though, looking forward to seeing what else you have in store!
Yeah, in Canada you would be facing a 6 figure fine from the Feds for creating a "HADD". (Harmful Alteration or Damage and Destruction) of fish habitat. Different strokes.
I was wondering the same. Hope they dont get in trouble 😅 my cousin crossed a run-off creek by our house with a D5 dozer and the EPA and the neighbors lost their minds.

Wow, that was a wild job! That Sany is truly amazing! Has Sany contacted you and said, "Hey, listen... We're sorry but we have to invalidate your Warranty!!!" 🤣 Wild! Thanks!
If you are fording fast water, pick your diagonal line and stay straight on it all the way over, never stop, never steer. Also, do it as early in the day as possible, wherever that snow melt is coming from it just comes faster as the day goes on.
Moving that dead excavator just took pure grunt. You got it out with minimal damage to the place too. The only other option would have been to cut it apart in bits. Awesome! Moving cabooses now this, there's probably not a lot you cant move cant you do with your gear.
My suggestion would be to make a loop with the lines for the hydraulic lines for the track drive motors. That would allow the oil to circulate and might free up the tracks.
The thing I like the most about you is your plain "old fashioned" Common Sense. If there's a problem or obstacle, you THINK it through and apply Common Sense. Success !!!

Maybe next vehicle for the fleet will be a military bridge layer :D
I love those things
That Sany is unstoppable.
It just goes on, and on, and on.
What a machine, so powerfull😊
On this episode of "Dave Sparks should just do Alan's plan first"...
You are the hardest working owner I ever seen!! U are the man 🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾🦾
Loved the transition edit from serious excavator work to Alan having the time of his life on a zip line haha
The wizard! I thought he might just fly away ! Love alan
Wizards can fly with sufficient thrust !
The big SANY, HETT, and the Team combination for the win!!!
Alan is really a great addition to this channel
Wizard!
Truly awesome effort. Blessings and continuing success to all involved.
I just love the wild things you guys do and it seems since you brought Allen on it got even better you got a great group of men there we do miss Hunter we do watch his videos when we find them be safe have fun thank you for sharing your life with us god bless
60 thousand lbs on tracks that are locked up wow very impressive move.
Deep respect for your crews and equipment.
Great show and waiting for episode 3
Back in 1970 My Father worked for Drott Manufacturing and also LO-ED, that made material handling lifts In Wausau, Wisconsin
Nice part 2 of the big pull(s)👍👍
Loving this series already!
I really like your work, sir, the job of evacuating damaged heavy equipment. I like this
never thought i'd see the day when Dave uses the wrecker as a wrecker
I concur. This is better than watching regular TV. Real work and expeditions as it happens. 😊😊
And some wet wipes incase they need a poo WTF
@@dennisfondse1951 It would probably make more sense to carry toilet paper and hand sanitizer/cleaner. As far as the stinking gas they pass within one another's vicinity, there isn't much they can do about that.
Heavy d that green wrecker has got to be the most badass machine I've ever seen it's like holy bleep bleep keep on trucking buddy
It good to see someone that can use every inch of potential from his equipment to get the job done
This was so cool to watch!! Thanks for taking us along to see beautiful country side!!
AMAZING JOB. GR8T TEAM WORKING TOGETHER GETS THE JOB DONE.
Heavy D and his team can demn near recover anything.. Great job guys!
Your equipment recovery videos are so damn interesting to watch....better than movies.. Truly awesome effort. Blessings and continuing success to all involved..
Listerine is used by pro gardeners in Texas to run off biting blood suckers ! Works like a charm - I have a small pump sprayer in the shop and I just spray myself down and enjoy the day.
So much equipment to recover one machine. Massive machines. Great stuff.
Now, that was some MAN-handlin'! BRAVO ZULU, boys!
Can’t argue these guys have the best job in the world!
If you lift the forward end of the thing you're towing you'll have less ground resistance. Keep up the awesome videos👍💯
Good job guys. Watching Allen brings a song to mind. The Boys are Back in Town 😊
The HETT is the a beast, love that wrecker! Proven itself over an over an it looks an sounds badass
Getting the equipment out of the prairie makes things more beautiful !
This is what a real TEAM looks like!! Goodjib sit.
Another great recovery fellas!! nice work, very much enjoy watcing you guys hard at work!!
Quickly becoming the most enjoyable UA-cam channel 😍
And yet another great spot for giant steel sled's for the tracks/tires for easy sliding across any terrain!
That excavator was a beast! Loved thiss video!!!
Success !!!
These videos are always super interesting, simple... but interesting I love them...
Loved seeing the wizard zipping across the river in background lol belta 🤟🏻
The epitome of brute force! Love it! 👍😎✌🗽
It's been 11mo since I been on this channel a lot to catch up on thanks for staying active @HeavyDSparks we appreciate you!

I've been operating equipment since 1978 I love those old track loaders the first rubber tire loader was a fix frame
