i opened mines a couple weeks ago, i will tell you that that nut was on there so strong that i heard a loud crack when it broke loose, so it really is on their tight. thanks for the video, i actually just wanted to make sure it was the plug for the transmission. oh btw i used a gear wrench long 3/8 extension to open it .
You never showed how to check the level of the transmission fluid after you were done. Is there a way to check the level, or do you just dump 2 quarts and hope for the best? Thanks
Isn’t there a level check bolt you need to loosen to see if you have the proper amount of fluid? But I can see that doing it this way the car need not be level to fill from the top as long as the 2 quarts is enough to insure a proper amount of fluid when filling from the top.
I hav an 8th gen accord and that fill plug was wrecklessly tight, i really thought my breaker bar was going to give up. I had impact extentions on the bar
My question is: Did your onboard computer said you have to replace the MANUAL transmission fluid at 30K? I have 85k miles on mine and only now did the code for replacing the TF showed up. (CODE 1 3 B where 3 stands for transmission fluid as per the onboard computer) I thought only CVT transmission fluids need to be changed at 30K while the MANUAL ones required change only at 90K miles. Anyway, I appreciate the video. Thanks,
I couldn't loosen the fill plug first time with a ratchet and two wobble extensions so I used a 3/8" reversible torque wrench (instead of the ratchet) that I got from harbor freight for about $15 and that did the trick. The first extension went flying when the fill plug loosened but nothing broke.
How do I clean that funnel if I have to use it for 2 different cars? One car uses atf dw1 and the other uses MTF, both Honda’s but instead is stick and the other is automatic.. and can you make a video on changing the brake fluid and power steering please
Hey there, you mentioned you were gonna do Amsoil on the next fluid change. Have you used it yet? I’m at 60k miles and I’m thinking of switching to Amsoil too. I’ve heard some people have done GM Synchromesh as well. Just trying to figure out if I should stick to OEM or if Amsoil or anything else performs better? Thanks!
Did you end up using either one of those? Just picked up my 2014 accord sport 6mt Edit: mines at 100k miles, i tried the gm synchomesh and its still notchy. Will be draining it and try RP synchomax.
Have you started using that Amsoil synchromesh yet? I've been thinking about using it in my Si, and I've been wondering how it's working for you (assuming you've already switched) and if it's worth it. Would really appreciate the response if you would.
2:50 + Oh Crap!. I'll make sure I'm using my old made in USA extension. I don't think they tighten them that tight, but the aluminum and steel bolt have some chemical reaction between the two of them.
I have the same question. I always watch multiple videos for different tricks that may make the job simpler. I saw CVT videos that had a check hole, and recommended changing the crush washer on that as well. Any possible update on this?
You're changing the transmission fluid very early. It might say that in the scheduled maintenance. When I suggested changing my transmission fluid in my six speed manual to my mechanic. They suggested doing it at 100000 miles.
Manual transmission all day.
Row your own! 1-2-3-4-5-6

There is no check plug. There is no way to check the level. The capacity is 2 quarts.
Tight from factory + heat, i have v6 auto, pull stick put big as funnel and done with it on mine! Nice video man!
Thanks!
I read that you should measure what you remove, and refill the same amount that was removed? Is this necessary?
Thank you!!!

Great video and thanks for filming that. My OCD wants to pull your steering wheel cover tighter lol.
Thanks! Yes those covers are too small and wont fully get over the bump on the sides all the way.

VG teaching skills! looking forward to more video's

How many miles did you have when you did this... just wondering

Holy crap that fill plug at 100lbs torque
Maybe I missed the part in the video, but how many quarts did u end up using for this job
2 quarts
are you ever going to do the clutch delay valve removal on your accord?
What's that

A mechanic fixes things that are broken. Maintenance keeps you from ever seeing your mechanic. There is no such thing as doing it too early.
Engine bay is way too clean you should find a gravel road once in a while
