This movie annoyed me. It had nothing to do with the acting or anything else but the story itself. Maybe i envisioned it too much, like how ??? How could three grown people do this to themselves. And the fact that Sunday won whatever game they were playing pissed me off.
My point. I was reviewing the movie with a friend and I was wondering if we're at this stage already in Nigeria. Being intimate with someone I know was intimate with my best friend. Maybe I'm just late to the party though but it's a no no
Sundays clothes were really nice! I didn't like that Uche wore the same wig for most of the movie but it was really nice to see her play such a vulnerable & emotional character.
Right!!! I noticed the wig thing too and tho it didn’t really set of any alarms in my head I found it odd that they had pretty much the same hairstyle for the entire film. Not a good look for such a high profile film.
I was thoroughly disappointed with this movie ; I don’t even know where to start! From the lack of chemistry between the male lead and Nse’s character ( it was more lust than love so I really found it hard to believe that he chose her over Dakore’s character), to the casting of Hilda Dokubo as Nse’s mother ( very unlikely) to the male lead’s lacklustre performance to the ridiculous and implausible storyline - I could go on and on! This movie was a HUGE letdown for me👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
Girllll!!! I found it weird too that Hilda Dokubo was playing Nse & Uzo’s mom but I just kept things moving. And like you said there were a number of things that were off about the movie but I just let them slide because I really wanted to be done with the review and get back to my vacation. I can’t keep sounding like a broken record over these Ebony Life Studios films. When they’re ready they’ll fix up. 🎬
Wasn't surprised at all! It's Mo'Abudu na what did you expect...Always putting out crappy movies! Please why do Nigerians like hyping CRAP again? I never get it! Nse is a fantastic actor but plots/storyline of most her movies are just the dumbest! Again, Nollywood movies on Netflix are just total rubbish...ridiculous!
😆😆😆 Bolu o! Don’t kill me. The people at Ebony Life Studios must not see this your comment. Lol. Thanks jare. Me I sha miss my studio. Maybe I’ll try this relaxed ‘sitting on the floor’ vibe when I’m back. 🤔 Lol.
To think that Sunday was having an affair with two friends while still married and they kept justifying it with he is getting a divorce which he didn't get till the end of the movie. It was a complete letdown.
Another thing that surprised me was, Sunday said he was in Nigeria for his brother's wedding. So all of a sudden abandoned his life in the abroad to be chasing two friends ......so many things just felt disjointed in this movie. Ebonylife needs to give movie making a rest and then go back to the drawing board. Their only movies/series that have made sense are wedding party 1, castle and castle and blood sisters. Thinking about it now, they are probably more suited to series than movies 🤔. Someone please advise aunty Mo
Don’t forget Sons of the Caliphate; they outdid themselves on that one. I think Sunday said something about being in charge of expanding the train network in Nigeria? So he was in Nigeria for work also. But I agree the movie was a bit all over the place…
@@ememobongnkana I actually didn't watch sons of caliphate.... So this confirms my theory that they are better with series.... She should probably stick to that niche
Right!!! Why didn't he go back abroad after the wedding? He only came in town for the wedding but he's the businessman behind the train system? And he was staying with his brother the whole time? Whose care was he driving? They just threw any and everything into the movie.
Very on brand for the studios. The lines were terrible: the train scene(to ibadan) when he said "maybe you don't like me at all". CRINGE. And then the part where Sunday told Toyin (at the train station) that she wouldn't be able to book a hotel this late- AND IT WAS CLEARLY DAYTIME!!!! Tito you summed it all. We all endured the film. Sad that the studios has the resources to make great filmography but alas, here we are. And let's not start on the WIGSSSSSSSSSSS! You can wear 1 wig for a 2 year duration but for the type of high flying jobs the ladies had: it was doing it AT ALL. Oh, nice cinematography, music. Nice gowns, great gowns.
I saw this movie on Valentine’s Day, and it was just okay, it’s not one of those movies you would want to talk to somebody about, it’s quite forgettable
Mmmmmm… Eni. Can we beseech Aunty Mo to abort mission on film making, ahhh. Boya focus on Event planning and Lifestyle. So I had said the movie felt it had two personalities, I mean some part of the story felt really good and then this same story felt like a cocktail of confusion. I ended the movie and tweeted that the movie felt like it had such a Vacuum. The acting felt forced, and not authentic. The sound of the movie sounded like the music director and sound editor got the movie late. Then it felt confusing. The themes introduced where so many, and these themes where not developed properly and then they drop them during the story in a very uncalled for way. They had, terminal disease, divorce and family abandonment, IVF, emotional abuse (Uche and Sam), friendship. Nothing was properly developed. I hate how they did not develop the characters (Uche and Toyin) between and give background context. We were dumped into their present struggles assuming a lot. What is this fixation with casting Igbo men as Femi!!!!!! Is there now a shortage of Yoruba Nollywood actors. Also, will it be Ebonylife movies if there is no Americanized feel that makes the movie feel disjointed 😭😭😭. Considering the name of script writers I saw, I could not understand why this movie felt hollow. Do we want to talk about unnecessary characters??? Wo see, this movie could have waited another year in the oven for proper execution, this felt weird and I will not even recommend it to anyone I know. On that note Pleaseeeeee do a review of “When Are We Getting Married” 😩😩😩. I know you have seen it. Anyways have a lovely holiday. We look forward to the studio, this floor arrangement no gel.
I watched the movie, was very disappointed. I went to IG and saw people hyping it, and I was wondering if this is the same movie I just watched. The movie was very very weird....to think I was looking forward to it 😑
Unpopular opinion: I think the cast was a little too old. These women are old enough to be my mum and they were in some situations that younger people find themselves in. Like Uche had a sugar daddy, and she looked like she should already have her self financially secure at her age. Uche and Toyin knowingly sharing a man (that was already married) at their big age. Toyin following 2 random men in a club, at what age??? The list can go on... I think this whole story would be more realistic if the women were in mid 30s and not middle age.
Yes, yes and yes. You totally spoke my mind. It just wasn't plausible that ladies in their age range were in that kind of situation with the way the characters were presented. Let's not start with the story line...so many wrong things!
I kept trying to remember where I know Oris’s face from. He was in Sometimes in April. That was a really good movie. So I’m really shocked that he dropped to this movie.
Nothing pissed me off more than the fact that the two major characters wore the same wig for the entire movie. They were now busy styling the same wig thinking they could fool us😭😭😭. Then Toyin willing off her baby to someone she has wrong? Doesn’t she have family members?? It’s how they made Sunday with a nasty behavior feel like a trophy😒
The besties wearing the same wig for the entire movie was just bad 😭 Dakore’s wasn’t the worst but Nse’s wasn’t even a good wig or natural looking which made it unbearable. Unpopular opinion though, I was kinda routing for Toyin. I could empathise with her being the good girl for most of her life, doing everything right but not getting what she deserved. I think pursuing Sunday was her only selfish act, and for someone that was dying she still held it together better than most I think 🤷🏾♀️
She did hold things together but I think she was really crafty & shady in the way she went about things. Perhaps she would have done things differently if she wasn’t terminally ill.
I am very surprised that the stars of this movie agreed to be a part of it. The writing was beyond atrocious. Nothing made sense, especially why Uche needed a sugar daddy when she came from a wealthy family. Her behavior in the movie would've made more sense if she had her own money. Sunday's character was just all over the place. I don't even know where to start with that one. The movie would've landed better if the actors were younger.
I totally understand how you feel about the movie because I've been struggling to finish it. I'm basically bored but I just want to get done with it. I actually paused the movie to watch this review and also watch a totally different movie.

The movie is not at all a bad movie, it is a very good movie that is not void of a few flaws, in my opinion the flaws are based on, character choices, attention to detail and plot holes.
Character choices: I think the guy that acted Akin did a great job, I loved his strong charisma and he kind of had an intimidating masculine presence, due to this I think Alex was not a good support character for him. Alex didn't convince me that they had a relationship that was deep, their energy didn't go so well, a Deyemi would have matched his vibe better. next is the guys at the bar, they didn't look threatening in anyway, they looked like jolly good fellow a who posed no threat as they were painted to be, a more threatening looking party goer, without the geek glasses would have been suitable.
Attention to detail: I wonder why in the long passage of time Uche and Toyin never changed their wigs, especially Uche (Nse) she literally wore a single wig throughout what seamed like a 2year time period, haba.
Plot holes: The sugar daddy Character was left hanging, at least they should have shown how Uche (Nse) was able to be free from his threats e.g they could have shown that she sold some art works at a huge amount to the white investor and was able to pay off the chief to his suprise.
