I really like the double review score. I bet there is a lot of people who haven't played the game so you let them know its a great game but also still called out the port.

Thanks for your honesty with this review, Jordan. In light of the issues with this "remaster", I certainly will not be picking it up, which is a shame! Looking forward to your next review as always
Great review bossman. This was the game I was most hyped for during last year's September direct. It's a shame about it being a bare minimum remaster but as I've never played it, I will definitely be getting this for sure. Thanks!
Hopefully it will get an update to fix the issues with the remaster. I loved this on GC & I loved Dawn of the New World even more, it was a day one purchase for me when it was released on Wii way back in 2008
The physical release kind of sucks too. I had my Chosen Edition delivered today and it only comes with a steelbook to store the game cart in (no regular case). I don't like having to put steelbooks on the shelf alongside my other games as they look a bit odd and out of place, and don't have the game name on the spine. Minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, but it's annoyed me.
I saw another review point out longer load screens, missing and abrupt animations, to even missing dialogue. Dialogue that wasn't removed for censorship, just a half assed remaster. I went from trying to order the Chosen Editon off the broken bandai namco website to waiting for a steep discount on the base version.
I have to ask; did they fix the audio issues for the new voice lines? In the battles, any new Arts that weren't in the original GC version was significantly lower than the rest. This has been a constant issue with these games. And it was really bad in Vesperia where the new skits (which are fully voices) were so low volume that some area BACKGROUND noises completely drowned them out. Is that still there in this 'remaster'?
I got to enjoy this game on my 14th birthday along with star ocean 3 till the end of time. With people addressing all the glaring issue with this port, they all seem to stim from only the switch version. Im hoping those issues dont occur on xbox and playstation
Fun fact Scott Menville is also in this game aka Robin teen Titans 2003, bucky in avengers Earth's mightiest heroes and various other cartoon network shows
Yeah man I was really looking forward to this, but with the issues I just couldn't do it -- had to cancel my preorder shipment. Any feeling on whether we expect Bandai Namco to commit to a patch for *any* of these issues? I'd be happy with literally anything at this point... add auto-save, fix the battle loading screen, or the party menu screen... what a messed up, failed opportunity in this state. 😢
The Voice acting compression probably has to do with GameCube optical discs only being able to hold 1.48 GB of data. Earlier in the video you talked about playing Skies of arcadia legends. Well while a Dreamcast GD ROM could only hold 1 GB of storage Skies Arcadia on the Dreamcast was on two discs compared to only being on one disc on the GameCube go and listen to the difference of audio between the Dreamcast and the GameCube version. Sega decided to put extra content and clean up the graphics but decided to cram all of that into into less space than the original.
I love that namco is giving us GameCube games on switch. But why can’t they do bare minimum and get us 60 frames with clean audio. Really want the baten Kaitos games too but again 30fps and they cut the English audio! Ugh namco, thanks for the classics, now just apply a little effort!
People keep mentioning Skies of Arcadia when talking about this game. Funny story, I went to Gamestop back in the day looking for Skies of Arcadia and thought this game was that game because I couldn't quite remember the name at the time. I later found out I got the wrong game but this "wrong game" became my favorite video game of all time. I've still never played Skies of Arcadia. As far as this port, I'm only gonna pay $10 for it. Maybe with updates taking care of everything but the FPS cap, I'd pay $20 for it.
I'm playing the switch version and I am having no problems with it. I do get why some people are mad about it but overall the base content is the same and am already 30 hours in.
I agree a port is a better designation than remaster. But I don't care! This is one of my top games of all time. Day 1 buy. Now gimme a tales of phantasia remaster.
Hello, I saw that you are already playing Tales of Symphonia Remastered, would you know if it has Brazilian Portuguese localization if you put the console language in Brazilian Portuguese as happened with Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition?
The oldest Tales I've played is Graces (it's also my favourite). That one's pretty hard in terms of learning the battle system. This one doesn't look as hard. I don't like these older english dubs. Does it has japanese as well?
At the ancient times, we had the intro clip from Japanese version for games many months before the European release. (On video game channel) Loved the song.... Wanting so much the game. Guess my disappointment when I had the GameCube game for my BD and hearing that song was replaced by a generic music.... (Fortunately the Steam version has the original song) Still , this game was my second tales of (after Phantasia) and loved it immediately.
I was wondering if there was a reason to get this version since i already have the steam version. If it played at 60 fps id say yes but it doesnt. Remastered is a lie.
I'm very torn on this one, it's issues are not the end of the world but it also seems like a very lazy port, added to the fact that I haven't been very happy with bamco lately. Lloyd's theme remains oe of my all time favorite tracks though,
yea I believe I'll buy this one at 10 bucks on a sale... I already have it on ps3 (packed with graces and new world) after all. I love the darker Xillia and Berseria but the happy go lucky Tales games I never managed to get into. Plus.. Tales of Hearts R is exclusive to Vita they could have brought that back instead right? Not that it's a great Tales entry but I mean...
Is this worth picking up over the ps3 version? I’ve got the copy with the sequel and Tales of Graces F. Just wondered if there was any performance/graphical differences to it than on ps3.
Honestly I do wish they also released the sequel with it even if a big number of fans hate the game. I do feel conflicted that it does feel like prices of games are going up and content is going down. This remaster definitely feels more like a lazy port over a remaster and with the great remastered games we have gotten lately definitely makes this one stand out in a really negative way.
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World should have been included. It was included on the PS3 a couple of years ago, so why omit it now? It's already been remastered... Bad job by Bandai Namco. Hopefully it will soon follow.
Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris is the living proof that games can run better on Switch than PS 4. The loading time in PS 4 is eternal, while on Switch Light the loading time is 50% less. And SAO AL is a big game in size.
So you've got the remaster of Metroid Prime which looks to run great. And then you've got THIS remaster which runs worse than even the Gamecube version... Ok 😅 Honestly I was bady surprised by what you showed in the video and there is no way I invest into this version 😅 All I can hope for is that Skies of Arcadia will get a true remaster and not this kind of lazy port. By the way, I encourage everyone to watch your video about Skies of Arcadia, my all-time favorite 🙂
6 even seems generous for the port rating. "Remaster" doesn't fit, it's just another port of the less optimal version of the original game. Unreal. Admittedly I do want to go boot up my gamecube copy now. Just a shame they couldn't do this game justice for a new/wider audience as an iconic jrpg.
The sequel - Dawn of a new world was a disappointment. Especially for me personally when it comes to the Main Heroine - Marta, even though she's voiced by Laura Bailey/Rie Kugimiya in Japanese. I think the writing has gotten worse since Symphonia when it comes to the Skits. 😩
Great game, poor remaster quite frankly. The game will always be great by itself even if it's not one of my personal favorites but when looking at this as a Remaster...there's a lot of issues here.
Just like Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster, this game not having the direct sequel while previous versions did...is an improvement. Quality over quantity.
