A lot of people are asking where to read the comic and I am just going to pin this here: It is not done yet, but when it is I will do a Kickstarter to print the book and that will be the way to get your hands on it
Would love to see a more technical video about your process in krita, what file size do you use, how do you set up the margins, etc. More like a tutorial I guess, but this was very interesting too!
please make more of these videos!! I love your style and you inspire me so much!!! im kinda thinking about making a comic for a school assignment (in a year, for my graduation) and this inspires and helps me so much!! love uuu
I wish i had this sort of patience- I'm trying to work on a little comic between me and my friends but i just dont have the patience to make it so beautifully detailed
Your art inspires me so much c: I love your style Also I've been following your video on making a pose-able felt doll for a college project I'm doing. It's a 3D project but we need a scene made traditionally. It's so fun
Such beautiful work, I'm in love! Speaking of the bucket tool in Krita, it's very useful indeed! In Photoshop, the only way I found to do this in a clean and quick manner was to create a script which covers the expanding of the current selection by 1px + filling with foreground colour + Unselecting. Then you add it to a key (I used F8). Then you just have to press the key to fill automatically (and properly) the areas selected in your lineart! o/
Dina is a seasoned veteran, but there are a few things in this video you probably shouldn't follow for your first comic project. Most notably, jumping back and forth between chapters can be a bit dangerous. When you do work in bulk like this, there will always be new things you learn, both about the work and about yourself. Shorthands for certain things, better techniques and things like that. This slightly changes the look and feel of the panel, which isn't a big issue when you paint them all in sequence, but two-three changes in might have very different feels from the very first you drew. So if you paint them all in sequence, the audience won't notice. It will just start to look slightly different as they read along, with changes so subtle they can't see it. But if you paint them out of order, jumping back and forth between the start, middle and end, these changes could be quite drastic. The first page might have been painted first, then the last, then the middle page and by the time you get to the second page, you've changed your way of working 3-4 times already, so page 2 looks significantly different, then page 3 slightly different and page 4 is back to how it was in the beginning.
I'm not sure why this showed up in my recommended videos lol but I'm not complaining I'm actually planning on revamping my one-off comic strip into a whole thing, and I even use krita lol
Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
...that s great..I" Like to learn some details..I am in the process to start a comic...and you inspire me a lots...it is possible to get the beginning...with dimension of the Frames?...Please.Are you using a layer for each character. And for each elements?..as well as each colors..for each frames? ... I know...l know...Lots of questions.. Thanks for everything.. Beautiful.
Matthew 25:31-46 New International Version The Sheep and the Goats 31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ 41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ 44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ 45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ 46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
Coool! Those lines look AMAZING! Much likes deserved! What kind of pencil is that btw? Can anyone tell me? I'm dying trying to get better at just lineart itself xD
Love your art style and process! Followed your link but seems like some are broken? Couldn't click on your older projects from it but I'm going to look for your graphic novels. My girls love them and your style is really appealing!
This is probably a very stupid question, but what tool do you use to make the very first lining/tracing? I can't seem to find something that satisfies me
This was soooo cool to watch. I'd love to see more of these videos periodically. They're really helpful for anyone considering making their own comic. Your process seems so different from other artists.
love your art so much! all of these comic scenes would be great as prints or post cards :) Im new to your patreon so Im super hyped up for the stickers, post card and the character design trading card! The trading card is such a cool and unique idea All of your work is so inspiring!
I have become so confident thanks to you and the brilliance that you share. I haven't been happier with my art than I am right now. Please never be sorry for sharing anything. Even if one person gets something great out of something you don't normally post - it is totally and always worth it - to share something new. 🖤
💜💜💜 sad I couldn't have time to watch this until now but yay! I'll accept this spoiler 🤣🤣🤣 love watching your process as you explain it, helps to get how you plan a page and all the work behind it
your grasp on colours is amazing! ik this was made 4 yrs go but how do you add another page in the comic manager? I've been trying to but the button stays unclickable/grey
This is so beautiful! Question about when you printed the book: Did you need to adjust the sides of pages so it could blend into the book's binding, especially on a full color page like this?
The finished page looks so good! I love how you tweaked the colors so the characters fit right into the environments. It was also really nice watching you work on this on stream :D
I am doing a traditional watercolor comic... but it's a casual thing that I'm free to take at my own pace, instead of a paid book. So I can 100% understand the choice to do digital. Hopefully you get a chance to do a watercolor comic project in the future!
why are you saying sorry for doing a digital art video?! How dare you?!! We're grateful for whatever piece of art you decide to share with us!!! Don't make me fight you, Dina! (ง'̀-'́)ง
I enjoyed the video and I would love to see some of your book to feature some watercolor pictures, Maybe reserve the work for the covers or a big multi-page fold-out? Please do not feel badly for offering up a "digital" video your Art is in many forms and we want to see whatever you choose to share with us! Have a Lovely Day!
Even though you don't feel like a whole comic in watercolor is possible right now you should totally still incorporate it into your comic! Like the front and back covers or large spreads within. I think you'd kill it honestly. Your style is awesome
I appreciate digital artists. I only do traditional but I will pick it back up when I go back to America. I wasn't good at it though. lol. The snow cat prince is so cute.
Dina, is there a reason you prefer using Krita over Photoshop? I was wondering why you chose to do your pages on Krita. I love your work, by the way =)
As soon as this is available Im buying it! It looks so gorgeous already! Even though I'm more of a traditional artist, your digital speedpaints always make me want to get my tablet out and practice digital art!
A lot of people are asking where to read the comic and I am just going to pin this here: It is not done yet, but when it is I will do a Kickstarter to print the book and that will be the way to get your hands on it
I can't wait to read it it looks like a great book!
I m stunned to how smooth the opening animation was
Would love to see a more technical video about your process in krita, what file size do you use, how do you set up the margins, etc. More like a tutorial I guess, but this was very interesting too!

Great work! I also use Krita. :)
I think it would be really cool if the flowers were sort of bioluminescent, so they glowed slight purple light
Yass

You're totally right: confident inking over simple, barely-there concept-reminding sketch lines, that's how it always should be done.
Your art style is amazing!💕
I wish I was that talented
Who else agrees she is a one of a kind talented person
It hurts to watch this knowing that we will not be able to watch new videos from you anymore 😢
Loved this video! I can't wait to see more of the Snow Cat Prince.
Your art inspires me so much c: I love your style

I'm not sure why this showed up in my recommended videos lol but I'm not complaining
I'm actually planning on revamping my one-off comic strip into a whole thing, and I even use krita lol
I read the book a little while ago and i LOVED it!
