I live in Brooklyn and go to loads of games and this is super disappointing. I come from the UK/AUS and soccer culture so the whole concept of tanking is new and pretty depressing to me. Seems like the draft is a lottery anyway - so to purposefully lose now to stack your hypothetical chips kinda feels anti-Sport. I feel like with the culture that we were building this season and the picks we’ve already got stacked from dismantling the celebrity squad, we could have kept Dennis and extended him a year to help bring the level up for the young guys. But I get that depreciation is a thing and a year makes a difference. Still, the rug getting pulled out from under teams and fans like this is sad - no wonder the focus here is more on players than franchises. I’ll still be going to games - I’ll be at the cavs game tn - but it’s so weird that they will be purposefully losing. That’s a strange ass approach to professional sports..
If you followed the team throughout the offseason, tanking was always the plan for this year and next. It's not about short-term success but rather the team's sustained success. This team was not going to give up the substantial assets it gave up to get their picks back and try and compete for a play-in spot. In the NBA you are either competing for championships or at the bottom accumulating assets so you can become a contender. Being in the middle does nothing. Do you really want to be West Ham United? Enjoy the game because Jordi and the players out there will not be trying to lose, they'll be playing to win. And they'll play hard
@@teigsadhana5769 as we say - this is not what we would “want” but what the sport dictates is the “best strategy”
I love Soccer - the Promotion/Relegation, season champion on record not playoff - a ton to love. Just nothing that will ever be adapted here. Too far down the money making playoff rabbit hole - AA
Look at it this way, the Nets have a lot of young guys who need in-game experience and they're not going to get better riding the bench.
It's not intentionally losing, but we as fans realize young guys are going to make mistakes & there are growing pains.
Also, Dennis is going to be a free agent this summer. So while it sucks to see him go, getting 3 second round picks along with a rookie who absolutely should have been drafted was an outstanding haul.
Beekman is going to play for sure and sooner than people think.
TANK MODE IN EFFECT - Let’s GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
About to get a DS jersey and hang it from the ceiling in my room lol, gonna miss him
Dennis is going to be a starter on GSW from the reporting I’ve seen
I'm happy that we got a taste of what Jordi can bring to this team with average talent. Nets future looks bright
@@ElSan531 perfect way to reflect on the first 25 games.
Glad the Nets realize that by having a major tank they can still maybe get that #4 lottery slot because the WIZ,Jazz and PELS refuse to win!! Great trade by the NETS...NOW please trade Cam J and DFS!!!! get what you can...the lottery slot is VERY IMPORTANT!!!
Bottom line...NETS don't have a player to build around...That's when you MAJOR TANK!!!!!!!!!
Adam looking like a stud
I don’t understand why every other team can tank but the nets. It just makes zero sense to me
A late round first isn’t more valuable than getting better draft position
Tank time lets goooo!! Dylan Harper RU here we come
Perfect role for Ben Simmons! General of the Nets Tank
Yeah until the next over-fed super star decides to rehab at Brooklyn for a couple of years and most of you get behind the train wagon.
Great trade...get picks and players who will NOT help this year!!!!
@@AndrewPolander bingo
Sure wish we could have gotten Cam but I mentioned in another video that the dubs wouldn’t part with Kuminga and pick.
Tank-A-Thon in full effect
With the year Dennis has been having, kinda feels like we got fleeced
Not really, because the Nets was winning games, and they wanted to tank for a higher draft pick next yr. He is basically a role player on an expiring deal and 31 - or 32 year old
@@pinbarbecue1100 i get it but two 2nds for him feels like charity
@@jayegeecorporate8788 I doubt no team was trading a 1 round pick for him. And you never know if the Nets hit on the draft pick and turn out really good players. NBA players like Monta, Jokic, Michael Redd, Carlos Boozer, etc
Gotta remember, expiring 31 y/o vet
Doug used to say we when referring to the nets and now he says they 🤨
Truly disgusted by the trade
👔 Adam #NetsWorld
This is reason nba is a joke and stopped caring as much about, was enjoying team playing hard winning and team said no tank is on losing is good so sad
Well, the blue print is OKC.
Do you want the nets to be stuck in mediocrity somewhere between play-in status? Or do you want to hope that in the next 5 seasons or so that you can be on top of your conference with real title conversations like OKC?
Nets still need their definitive #1 guy that's a franchise piece, and then hopefully draft players like OKC did with Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren and company.
I totally get that but it stinks that there no reason to watch any more games this year cause it’s pretty much a forfeit by ownership and don’t fully trust marks as gm
@@JamesWalsh-pg1pn they just gotta do what the jazz/Raptors do.
They will play really competitive for like 45mins of the game, then throw the final 3.
The jazz even called a timeout on Collin sexton as he was about to hit the game winning drive against the Lakers... Just so they could lose 😂
lol really I didn’t see that, also knowing nets luck we get screwed by lottery and pick 8th or lower
Coping here....honestly could have gotten more, he's playing that well....sure Nets lose more readily now but that cannot be a legit way of looking at it when technically breaking down the trade.
And if that is legit now....well, that's not a good look for the NBA, is it? We understand the contract and situation and that unsaid "tanking" is a thing...but they could have still lost plenty and gotten more for a guy playing that well and respected that much and in his prime still...for a team like The Dubs it's a no brainer and they can still make moves if/when this isn't the end all in their journey to maximize Steph/Dray.
And i think not only the Warriors but others would have given up more..and not that further into the future....not sure why the Nets settled on this so fast (and again, if they really want to lose they can trade him in the next few days and i'm sure get more than this. Yes, down the road GSWs 2nd rounders might be high ones, but we're talking 2nd rounders.
Well....i see a guy many contenders could honestly really see help them ala the German. I get him being gone facilitating losing which you want...but once again, i don't buy how easily you're convincing yourselves you couldn't have still lost plenty ultimately and gotten certainly somewhat more for this talent playing so well perhaps best in his career right now well....i understand swaying it to the home side, and that there are fans and all of it...i guess i disagree and i know it's easy to assume you could have got more like i'm doing..but no, i really think the Nets could and should have played this out at least a bit more (so early, pre-early in the process. peace)
They could have gotten more hey? How come you're not a GM?
Ben10 my tank commander!
To me I don’t think they could have got a first but they could have did the same deal with lakers and prolly got jhs
@@BigAP219 that would seem unlikely, only because the young player in this deal is a 4 year college player that has been in the g-league.
Also might have been focused around DLo something that aligns better with Johnson on the money side.
Tanks a millions!
Long drawn out minutes of Claxton and Ben Simmons on the court together get ready folks
Don't see the trade as a win for either team.
warriors got a good player to fill in a role left by a season ending injury, and the nets got a player that wont win them games this year
and neither team commits long time to their contracts
thats exactly what both teams wanted
i have trouble rooting for the nets every sense kd and ky left they have just made silly decisions
Word but I'm glad Nets at least have Cam Thomas. Hopefully they don't give him away.
I don't think so. Their silly decisions were getting KD & Kyrie in the first place.
Trade Cam J and DFS...PRONTO!!!! The best return we can get is a MAJOR TANK!!!!!!!!!! Don't wait!!!!
SOOOOOOO many other teams are thinking the same thing!!! This will be an epic TANK year by MANY TEAMS...watch and see!!!!
Dennis is a 31 year old on an expiring deal who is a role player can't expect a huge haul
nope. a lot of teams could've used him and an expirer is a good thing for most teams. he's perfect for a contender. the Nets are dumb.
A team isn't gonna give up a 1st round pick unless heavily protected or a Young player (J Kuminga) for a guy who can walk next Summer
DS signed himself away after the last game when Jordi had to yank him back lol 😂it was signed sealed and delivered
Trade had nothing to do with that game.
Thoughts on these 2 trade ideas. Pelicans get:
Claxton, Thomas, & Sharpe
Nets get:
Zion
25’ 1st via Bucks & 27’ 1st via Bucks
& Nets get: Joe, Wiggins, Dieng, 25’ 1st via Hou or LAC, 26’ 1st via Hou or LAC, & 28’ 1st via Dallas
OKC gets: Johnson, Thomas, & Sharpe
@@americancheese3087 NO WAY!!! HE IS INJURY PRONE
You must be a knick fan NO NETS FAN WANTS ZION
You must be smoking that California weed
@@christophermcrae4599 Nah, I’m not. I’m a Nets fan. Zion’s contract is team friendly. And Dylan Harper with Zion would be 🔥.
Pelicans are about to start tanking harder than yal are. Their trying to get rid of Zion, Ingram, Dejonta, and CJ
😂😂😂😂😂
Sorry to burst the bubble on those who just want to continue to stay in play-in mediocrity, but the time is now to tank and build the foundation for the next 10-15 years. 🫡
You don't have to trade everybody 10-15yrs some of us won't be around anymore a rebuild doesn't guarantee anything nets can be like the Charlotte hornets or the sixers they've been like that for decades no championship no nothing
@@myholyking6951 The Nets have never won an NBA championship. In fact, if you've been a fan for as long as I have (since '97) You'd know that throughout their NBA history, they've pretty much been a laughingstock. Don't know why you would compare us to the Hornets and Sixers and not mention that we've basically been as bad as them. A rebuild doesn't guarantee a championship but neither does pairing 3 future HOF'ers. Nothing is guaranteed but building organically has worked most of the time in constructing championship contenders. And as with all things all contenders need luck to get them to the ultimate goal which is a championship.
