Stick + Rail interference motions task

  • When developing tasks, I try to stay away from creativity for creativity’s sake.
Creativity should be in service of problem solving for the sake of our development and evolution and not to stroke our egos.
Taking the short stick balance into the rail creates very interesting dual motion source with interference action between the two and a third entity / system arising as a result. Add the turns on the rails and you got one tasty task at your disposal!
With such tasks I always use multiple consecutive successful reps as a demand to prevent ‘instagram skill‘ work where a few reps or just one is recorded after two hours of attempts in front of a camera. I want my skill REAL, at my use and at hand when I need it, I want the skill IN ME and not something I perform here and there with the right tail wind and lucky star in the sky…
I share here a tiny glimpse into a vast amount of resources we employ and use in our practice and that of our students. The tasks themselves should be wisely put together yet even if they are, the magic is not in the tasks but in HOW they are performed, WHEN, in what SEQUENCE, FOR WHAT, WHY, HOW LONG, etc and that requires a large investment in the attention we give to our practice and education.
To learn more and get into guided practice, join us for Online Guidance by emailing the office at info@idoportal.com where you will also receive access to a monthly live Masterclass where I cover and discuss all things practice and offer a place for interactions and questions. Soon some updates about live events as well coming up in 2023!

Many many things can be abstracted to a tetrahedron with a sattelite attached. It becomes more difficult when the sattelite is another tetrahedron and the contrary motion of the two virtual objects modelled by the brain becomes a longitudinal wave or a helix. Impossible to do deliberately, difficult to allow. Good to see you having fun Ido. Much love from Scotland.

Turning on the same left leg each time...I think it would be a more balanced work if one switches pivot leg and train the other leg too.

    Dear Ido Portal
Could you make some videos on movement training that is specifically helpful for boxing?, Or direct me to your movement training videos that would help the most for boxing?

Ido has lost his muscle mass significantly comparing to his older videos. Would like to see him back in his younger self.

Pause at 16 seconds and marvel at the transparent stick. It is not a rolling shutter artifact, rather an artifact characteristic of a deep fake.

I'm a VFX artist, and wouldn't say so. There's an overlapping of the previous frames caused by the lightning difference and the fact that the camera is probably some old smartphone.
