Welcome back! It's so good to see you again. I love how you've styled a pretty niche novelty print in a way that feels wearable without having to go full kitsch from head to toe (though of course that has its charms too!). Your videos have started making me see so much more potential in patterned and textured fabrics that I might otherwise have passed by. As a fellow knitter, I look forward to any knitting content the future may hold.

I am really happy with this video, I enjoy everything you do and always learn a lot if things. In fact, I learned sewing from you. The first video I saw from you was the Cinderella Live Action dress and I watched everything you did ever since. I started sewing because of you and sewing is the best method to help me with depression and anxiety. So, I guess, I just want to say a big thank you to you. You helped me so much witch my mental health. And it hurts me that your own mdntal health isn‘t at a good place. I really hope you find som relief. I hope that things get better for you. You truly are an inspiration, not only sewing wise, I also look up to your views and thoughts, they align so much with mine. Love your content but if you need it, take your time. And come back when you are feeling better, with whatever project, it doesen‘t have to be big, a blouse is just fine :)

Oh knitting is such a lovely hobby! And there are *so* many fun, free vintage patterns on the internet! I've been working from an 1890s crochet book and it's hard but fun. Now that I have my great, great grandma's hooks, it's easier (the names of hooks & their sizes have changed over time), so I'd love to know if something similar is true of vintage knitting!

Welcome back! I would definitely be interested in knitting videos. A word of warning from a wool hoarder, buying wool without a project in mind will almost always result in you not having the right amount, color, or weight when you actually find a project. I went on wool buying binge in 2019, but due to budget and suitcase size limits I tried to only buy small amounts, now I have a box of wool that I don't know what to do with.

In the mid 1970s I fell in love with 1940s styles; it was very hard to find vintage patterns so I purchased a basic yolked button up blouse pattern. I made fold over cuffs for the elbow length sleeves (2 points) and sewed a large button on the cuff at the bottom. I used a 1970s fabric very similar to yours, except it was trees instead of dogs. I also teamed it with a rust coloured crepe skirt. Thank you Angela for the walk down memory lane. I hadn't thought of that blouse for years.

I remember prints like this - I feel old. I think it works very well with the vintage pattern and it looks great.
Something I know I'd have done, because I've done it before, is to cut the buttonhole welts to match the print on the front exactly so the buttonholes would "disappear" into the front itself. I've had most people look at me as though I'm insane when I've shown them the results. The first time I did it was on a plaid that was uneven in both directions, and it was a challenge all right. I would not expect anyone else to do the same.

For knitting needles, I really recommend getting a decent interchangeable circular set. You get all the main sizes from 4-11 and it's easier on your wrists for large projects since the weight is centred rather than off to the side like with straight needles. I've used my knit picks circular set for literally all my flat-knit projects in that needle range since I got it.

@@raraavis7782 Circular needles are a pair of short knitting needles that are connected by a cable. "Fixed" circulars have needles permanently attached to the cable. An interchangeable circular set is basically a collection of different-sized needle tips that screw into cables of varying lengths. If you're just learning, it'd be a good idea to start out with basic straight needles because the kits are a bit pricey. But if you're going to make a long-term hobby out of it, getting a circular kit is a good investment. Especially if you plan on making large projects like blankets and shawls. Two of the more popular brands are Knit Picks and Knitter's Pride. I've got the Knit Picks nickel-plated set.
You can also use them to make small-diameter tubes by using two cables with mismatched tips (what I prefer) or by using a technique called "magic loop." You can also get "short" 16" cable circular needles (and kits) to make hats and stuff, but honestly I prefer using my larger circulars the way I mentioned. (Mainly because I don't need to swap to double-pointed needles when I'm shaping the top of a hat 😝)

Aside from the blouse you've just sewn, which turned out beautifully, I really need to say I love the tape measure shirt you're wearing in the intro and outro. Gorgeous!

I love these vintage pattern recreations. I’m just now getting back into sewing after being sick last year and your videos are so motivational!

I would love to see your knitting videos. Your design aesthetic is magical and I would be excited to see what you would create with knitting. I knit more than sew these days as it has a wonderful calming effect!

Love this video! What a fun, funky print. Love the bright hair colors with the juxtaposition of the structured forms! Feels very you in a good way!

Cool shirt! Live the 40s shirt silhouette and the dog fabric! There's nothing better than animal prints that are literary pictures of animals :D

I think the 1940s style works fine with your vibrant hair colors. If anything, it kind of reads as an homage to the 80s. And I like the mixing of 40s shapes with textiles from other eras, I wouldn't mind seeing a 40s garment with 60s fabric. The great thing about making your own garments is that you can do whatever you want, and break all the rules, and it's totally fine.

I love that fabric, what a great find! The bound button holes look like they are way beyond my current skill level, but they do give a very nice finished look to the garment for sure 😄

Not to be dramatic, but I would die of happiness if you shared your knitting with us. Even if it were just knit a long videos so you didn't feel the pressure to complete projects fast like a lot of knitter youtubers feel.

I am loving the blouse with the skirt! It’s such a cute outfit! Also loving that stunning blue color you are currently sporting in your hair, I am kinda jelly of how pretty it is! Do share the knitting adventures with us, I can’t knit but I can do some basic crochet so I would love to see what kind of yards you’ve begun to collect. Take all the time you need, we will be happy to wait for any projects or hauls you decide to share with us.
