Cultural context: something important to remember is that this boss is the stereotypical Japanese Toxic Idol who hides her insecure, vindictive personality beneath a veil of cloying sweetness. This is what her lyrics are referring to, and it's a lot more apparent in the Japanese dub of the boss fight (where her in-combat voice lines do a complete 180 from cutesy to nasty). The bouncy bass and percussion also remind me a lot of a Ska beat, which is probably why so many people are comparing this song to a track from Splatoon (which also draws heavily from Ska, Dancehall, and Dub). The funky chord you were referring to also makes me think of Weather Report and Jaco Pastorius in particular, who were both huge influences on late 1980s Japanese funk and jazz.
@@NabsterHax Yeah, I wish they had leaned into the 'mask off' portion of her fight instead of just making it the enrage. Still a fun and thematically cool fight, though.
@@IMMAOILMAN She still kinda does in normal about halfway thru. She starts changing things up from her normal routine. And if the fight goes on a loop after that she gets aggressive lines like "B is for beating you to a pulp!"
I know this is old, but I also want to add, that she isn't just ANY type of stereotypical Japanese Toxic Idol, she is an almost beat for beat duplication of the Japanese Wrestling Federation type of Idol Wrestler character, who usually come in the Heel and Hero formats. She is the Heel, or Villain archtype of Idol Wrestler whose arrogance generally revolves around everyone having their attention on them, tend to be cutesy in appearance but somewhat vulgar in act, and cheat during matches by having other wrestlers who are "infatuated" with her (kayfabe style) interfere in the fight. Every one of the 4 bosses of the first set are based around Japanese Wrestler stereotypes (some overlap well with American forms, but not always.)
@@darkmindaustin That's some awesome background! I'm not super familiar with Joshi Wrestling (other than that it gets super crazy), so this was very informative.
This song is one of my faves from DT something about the little Ah Ah!s just before the chorus hits is so catchy and I absolutely love it plus the fight is just a ton of fun as well
I find the lyrics incredibly funny. She's pretending to be cute, but she's so vindictive and violent that she can't stop weaving in insults and threats.
This is the second Boss of the current raid tier and its clear the devs had a lot of fun with it. The Raid itself is basically a Wrestling Tournament with people having an animal as their powerup, in this case a Bee. Since Raids are optional content this doesn't really reveal anything about the Main Story either. This song do be buzzin :P
@@eternalwind08 can confirm, progged for 12 hours and had to mute BGM because of the chorus making me make mistakes, cleared the first time after sleeping and listening to it overnight to numb me to it.
I find this song so fascinating because even after x hours of a raid prog, I'm not tired of it. I think FFXIV music is SO GOOD that way, in that it's very good at looping without getting grating "It gets more sinister" She *is* trying to murder you 😆
I swear I hated this song so much when I first listened to it. Literally couldn't stand it for a couple weeks until... it just clicked. Now I friggin bob my head every time I listen to it ... could it be Miss Honey B. Lovely's enchanting sweet poison at work?
You can see the moment the song grabs hold like it did everyone else
The progression we all went through from utter bewilderment to absolutely hooked.

In the savage version of the fight, her last mechanic is called "Rotten Heart" and she straight up yells at you to "get off her stage."

Vibing but also everyone panik and are running like headless chickens during Alarm Pheromones
This video is a progressive documentation of how the mind devolves into a hivemind. B is for Brainrot, and I am HERE FOR IT
I instantly fell in love with this song the moment it started. I love listening to it on my playlist. xD

after listening to this for 8 hours of prog somehow the song gets even better. Or I got stockholmed by a song. Either way, it's weird.

Absolutely *hate* this boss, but at the same time it's a fun fight lol.
I like this song but I didn't prog Savage like my FC-mates. I think they went insane from the song by the time they got their first clear. haha

This is really fun on savage
Half my raid team got told to mute the song after we all began to sing along and it distracted the group 😅😂

"It gets more sinister" She *is* trying to murder you 😆
At least she's giving you a show as she does.
She is luring you in with her sweet act, then reveals her sting. =P She may be an idol, but she is also a Professional Fighter.

🙂 just imagine this playing over and over and over and over and over...in your head, during Savage....🥲
it's an annoyingly addictive song 😅i love it haha
The bass gives it the floor it needs to bounce on.
She reminds me of the idol girl from Kakegarui
The only song from that raid series i remember
There is no way soken never misses like this ever
