2023❤ My husband and I met in the first grade in 1980 on the first day of school. He’s white and I’m brown… we never said anything about our obvious crushes on each other because we were in Mississippi and racial tension was too high. 42 years later he found me on Facebook in October 2022… 2 months later we eloped and everyone on Facebook from high school is surprised ! But very supportive! This song reminds me so much of my husband and I. I love you Che’ Nethery for my whole entire lifetime ❤❤❤🎉🙌🏽🙏🏽

The new generation can't sing or make music. They make loud noises and scream. If it would not be for the computer-age, they would be homeless. This new generation call themselves "artists". In fact, they are a bunch of "wanted be politicians or a voice for the lefties". That is the reason why this new generation do not appreciate the music of thar time, full of talented and dedicated professional musicians.

This song encapsulates the fun, carefree, sunny, prosperous decade of the 90s in America. Bill Clinton was in the White House, a lot of people were getting very rich in the stock market, and Bonnie Raitt’s fantastic, nasty, gut-churning slide geetar funk blues music was all over the radio.

Shirley Eikhard, the singer-songwriter who found lasting fame penning Bonnie Raitt‘s Grammy-winning 1991 hit “Something to Talk About,” has died. She was 67.
The blues-rock smash hit “Something to Talk About” was written in 1985 and Shirley Eikhard had offered it to Murray and other artists, who all declined to record it. Then years later Raitt left a message on Eikhard’s phone saying she she’d just recorded it. Raitt said later she’d discovered the song on a demo Eikhard had sent and admired it.
The song was the first single from Raitt’s 1991 album “Luck of the Draw” and spent 20 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 5.

I Love this song also…met my husband when I just turned 16 he was still fifteen. I wasn’t allowed to be with him…I was from the upper end…he was from the lower end. I always had to duck in the car and always hide from my relatives. I fell in love with him when I first seen him. We are married to this day we been together for 51 years …married for 46 years. I can’t imagine life without him. 💛

I don’t know why I choose to look up Bonnie Raitte videos tonight. I know her music from my childhood but never thought much about it. I’ve watched 3 videos so far and there’s something that brings a tear to my eye. Not for the reason some might think though.
See…I’m someone immersed in study. I spend my days studying history, religion, and politics.
I grew up in the early 1990s. My country has changed.
The thing that brought a tear to my eye was watching these videos reminded me when everyone was proud to be an American. A time when we weren’t divided. A time when we celebrated our culture and history and had real conversations with each other.
I’m exhausted with trying to convince my fellow Americans who have lost their fucking minds that they have diverted down a path of no return. I’m truly tired of the lunacy.
I wish people would get back to how things were.

Check her live album cover of cant find my way home by Blind Faith from the 70s and angels from montgomery cover by John Prine. As to what you said about the lunacy of modern America one perk is people no longer care if you are different. I live old school it's a choice. We cant have it both ways and main reason a stay on the internet is music. I drive old cars and listen to old music. I live part time off grid cook on a wood stove and pack buckets of water and garden. I don't have to do any of these things but feel if I drift too far towards modern convenience and thinking I start losing purpose.

Some folks accused me of WANTING to marry my mother.

This song is an absolute classic.
It's a shame that her and Lowell George never got the chance to play and harmonize together. I'm sure he would have made her an honorary member of Little Feat as a Dixie Chicken!!!!
One of my all-time favorite songs by her.

My son's mother died in January a day after his 28th birthday and even though we weren't together we stayed friends until her death, when the two of us met in Asheville NC in June of 1991 and started dating this was our song, we tried to keep everything on the down-low but it was on a film set of all places so of course everybody knew instantly, film sets being one of the worst rumour mills imaginable so it was fitting, I wish she was here I miss her terribly...

This video and song brings back a lot of memories. VH1 put this video in heavy rotation during the summer of 1991. I was 10 going on 11 and I was locked on that channel. I heard of Bonnie Raitt prior to that thanks to a cover story of Rolling Stone magazine on her in 1990 and I just thought she was just some old woman who played guitar and sang. Once I heard this song and seen the video, I was sold.

I got to see Bonnie open for Little Feat back in 1977 in Jackson Ms. Lowell George came on stage for Bonnie's encore and they did some great duets and slide battles back n forth to end her set. Little Feat came on and Lowell was engaged and on fire. Bonnie came on stage for their encore and it was something to see. About 30 minute encore of slide blisters for all to see. RIP the great Lowell George.
