Oh no!! Devastating! So sorry for that loss my friend! Where are you located? Typically takes 2-2.5 days whenever birds ship to or from me in Maryland. I manually pump electrolytes into the crop of every bird I ship as I load them in the box. For what it’s worth, congratulations on a great season!!

I've always been nervous with shipping pigeons in cold weather with the delays in shipping due to cold weather. Someone once told me they lost a whole box of birds because of carbon monoxide poisoning. The box was left close to a running truck too long. Whatever happened to this bird, it seems to have died recently to shooting this video as the neck isn't rigid yet. It's probably a small amount, but there should be some type of insurance on the birds.
That's what I thought also. There was a $100 insurance from the PO, but they said that's only if the package didn't eventually arrive or if the box was damaged and caused loss. That wasnt the case!

You just have to take the shipping evidence, receipt or tracking # to the post office to show that the bird arrived on the 4th day not within the 3 day guarantee and you'll get the shipping charges reimbursed. Assuming you paid for it from the OLR when Lelton shipped it out that is.

I feel for you , keep up the spirit . One question , do they give water to the birds ?Because i think that pigeon died of a lack of water . Some pigeons can do longer without water than others . Here in Belgium you ca'nt send pigeons in a box due to government regulations . A few years ago we had a race from 600 miles and due to the bad weather they had to stay 7 days in the baskets and the race was a big success .As long as they have water it shouldn't be a problem . I'm sorry to hear that. Take him to a place where I can fix them up with you. And then prepare him and keep them in your house. Don't Bury him, don't throw him in the garbage. Take him to a place where they could prepare is very nice for you and you keep on with your hoas memory. Good memories

Sorry man. Maybe it was sick to begin with. I’ve purchased birds in the past and excited to get them only to find them dead in the box. 4 days in a box is a bit much I think. Since you are wearing a fleece jacket, I’m guessing it’s not too hot during shipment. It does happen. Birds die during shipment. There are birds that look like they’re super healthy but really they’re not. You have a good attitude about it, but I understand how upsetting it could be.
I don’t know but I just can’t shake the feeling that there might have been some foul play involved in the death of that bird, the Person that did that, that’s not Cool Bro.

My suggestion is ship back your winners in all separate boxes. Less stress no fighting and less heat
