    Emerald, I am sure there would be plenty of interest to have you do a demo of the grapple as per what each control does and the coordination involved in running one, specs as in what pounds its rated to lift, the honda engine hp, the maximum weight the trailer is designed to carry etc. With the noise the engine makes no doubt you will have to do some voice overs to explain the operation/controls while its operating. In the future think about making a video about your Kubota tractor and its transmission type and attachments you have for it and its operation and some specs ( hp etc ) and why you chose it as the tractor of choice. The Kubota UTV also with a good rundown on its functions and ability. I sent a friend one of you're videos and he skimmed through a few others and he joked to me that the videos are brought to you by Kubota and Husqvarna since you run a few pieces each brand ( and yes the saw mill brand as well ) In all seriousness I hope those companies see some of your videos as its certainly giving them free advertising !

    I'd like a how-to-operate video.
    I can see the removable log arms being useful to have one area of the trailer that is less obstructed for the grapple to reach in. And if you ever bend one of the arms having it able to lift out would be a huge help to get you operational again without needing to cut the bent arm.

    I logged with a cherry picker log trailer behind a Manhindra tractor for 5years. The best investment I made hole logging aloe in the woods. Everything was separated and piled up for the log truck driver. Easter for everyone involved. My hydraulic valve bank mounted behind the seat on the tractor and I didn’t need the extra engine.

    • @eastluckcustomsawing5670
      @eastluckcustomsawing5670 Рік тому +3

      Most manufacturers of grapple trailers do have an option to buy just the loader all depends how deep your pockets are unfortunately. I am in northwestern Wisconsin lots of Mennonite and Amish around here have been buying a tow behind backhoes around 2,500 maybe more now with the covid gouge and mounting that on car trailers or haywagons to move logs or bales around. Depending on the group some have removed the motor use a horse or dog treadmill or even hand Jack's like what's used on a engine hoist. They all work great.

    • @Gwydion_Wolf
      @Gwydion_Wolf Рік тому +2

      @@jakebredthauer5100 It likely would depend on the way the Trailer in question is made. Gotta remember, all that weight the grapple picks up is going to be put down into the trailer at the point the grapple is positioned at 'before' its distributed to the axels. If the point the grapple would rest at isnt sturdy enough to handle that much weight in that specific of a spot, it might not be possible to mount one to a trailer not purpose-built for it.
      Not saying it WONT be able to, just something to consider :)
      Best bet would be to find a local company that makes/sells them and ask if you could bring what you have up to them to have them see if they feel it would be able to have one attatched.

    When we run 4 foot 7 foot 8 foot 10 foot logs we leave all the side on the log trailer anything 12 foot to 34 foot we pull all the uprights off 1 side of the trailer replace them with ones 1 foot high safety first haul 3 longer logs a load. No reason to lift that many tons extra 4 or 5 feet in the air to get over the higher posts it's better for the equipment also. Another bonus is it will also lower insurance costs when you upscale to longer logs.

    Thank you for this nice video. Metavic are indeed good equipments, Canadien made in Saint-Pierre-Baptiste but I think before moving there, the manufacturer was originally founded in the small city of Victoriaville, so for their name: Metallic + Victoriaville = Metavic. These are GOOD sturdy, well designed grapple trailers. The only possible weakness is whenever you rotate a long heavy log or if a long log swings too much, there is a possibility that it would hit on of the hydraulic cylinders and/or one of their pistons' shafts which could lead to annoying damage. But once you are aware of that, just take extra care and move any large log slowly and cautiously to avoid that happening. But on the other side, the obvious advantage of having the cylinders on the down side of the boom is that you get a 10 to 15% extra strength from your hydraulic cylinders since they are always stronger on extension than on contraction, meaning you get that extra force where you need it most, that is on the log lifting movements. As for price, they still are quite fairly priced, considering the quality you get, and more so since the money exchange rate get you a 25% rebate to begin with. I just incidentally got a price on a similar, just slightly smaller machine of theirs, from one of their retailers, this very afternoon. Yours is a 1150M16, with a 16 ft boom, a 1750 average lifting capacity and a 12 ft long loading deck on the trailer that you paid roughly 17 500$ US for. The price I got this very afternoon was for a 1150M14, with the same lifting capacity but a shorter 14 ft boom and a 11 ft long loading deck. So that is just a slightly smaller setup really and the price I got today was 18 800$ CAN meaning 13 958$ US, but you could add about 1000$ for customs and freight costs to ship in Pennsylvania, so, all in all, you could get it about anywhere in northeastern US for roughly 15 000$ US.

    Also you can't repaint it if you are making payments still cause someone else holds the title.
    Removable side rails are probably so you can remove logs with a forklift if the hydraulics fail.
