I’m in my mid-60s, retired Navy and retired federal LEO. (For those that don’t know, Ten Thousand offers a 25% discount to the military….through GovX). I was always a runner, but career-injuries have taken that joy away. Now I hike/backpack long distance and am getting into biking/bikepacking--to stay in shape. I’ve got my weight back to what it was in my 20s-and have taken up upper body strength training mainly just to stay toned. But…during the summer, all I wear is active shorts. I really like that this is a “veteran support” company, and while slightly expensive, I want to support that. Two questions: (1) I’m between waist sizes…finding Large often too big, and sometimes Medium too snug….unless there is significant give in the waist band. Is it a good, easy stretch that gives …or a ‘tightening’ stretch…particularly on the Tactical shorts? And (2), Regarding the short liners….are all of them the longer-inseam boxer-type liners? Reason I ask is that I prefer a ‘brief’ liner versus the long boxer type. Nice review….very comprehensive….and Bravo-Zulu on your communication skills! This is a great video!
If you’re in between, I’d recommend going with a medium on any of the shorts. Only exception is if you have wider hips, bigger glutes. The liner is a short boxer brief style in every short EXCEPT the distance has a brief style and the interval 7” or 9” have a longer boxer brief. Hope that helps!
I love these shorts but I hate the logo on the bag. I wish it was a smaller logo on the front. Or even a small 10k logo. I’d instantly buy 3 or more if it was the case
Great review. Thanks. I agree about the waist band of the Interval Short. Great fit and material, but it has the most annoying waist band of any shorts I own. It's flimsy and rolls unless you make the effort to move the string all the way to the top inside the waistband. There's simply too much room in the waist band, so the string can move, and then the waist band rolls. They should replace this waistband with the one they use on the Tactical Short. Just very surprising that a brand that markets itself as being functional and comfortable has a short with such an obvious flaw. I would never pay full price for the Interval Short.
I plan on getting the pants soon. I own the 3/4 tights and should’ve thrown them in this video. Same amazing material that they use for the liner, and other stand out feature is the bottom has a grip that prevents them from riding up or down your leg. Also the phone pocket has been clutch 👍🏼
Recently purchased the FOUNDATION shorts, Black and Jungle color, 7in inseam w/ liner. Iron w/o liner. By far, the BEST workout shorts I've ever worn. I'm 6'1 201lbs, 7in inseam is perfect length. I love the liner inside the shorts, very comfortable. Ten Thousand has my business for life 🤘.
Interval and foundation are 7”, tactical are 5” in this video. The interval short is a lighter, thinner material. Whereas the foundation is much thicker, offers a different waistband and shorter liner
You can squat in any but none of them are primary spandex. The liner has a lot of stretch to it though. For squats, I’d say the session, set, or interval
Very concise! I’m interested in the session short for lower body training. I’m 6’1” and 180lbs and most shorts I buy are medium. I noticed you buy large, is that just with this particular brand?
I'm also 6'1, and typically stay around 182 lbs. I have Lululemon Pace Breakers Lined, in Lg. They are just too baggy around the thighs and leg openings, for my liking. I recently ordered the Ten Thousand Interval Lined, in Medium. Hopefully these fit a little more to my liking.
I like the fit around the thighs, more form fitting than the Lululemon, but the liner was a little bit off. Also, felt like my a$$ was gonna split the fabric, if I was doing deep squats. Currently processing an exchange, for Lg. Lululemon has the comfort, and Ten Thousand has the aesthetic.
Quick question on your comments for the interval for CrossFit because of the versatility vs. the foundation shorts which are very durable and great for lifting. Would the foundation short get in the way during certain CrossFit workouts? Is the interval short durable for this use?
Both are great options for CrossFit. I would say the interval offer more free movement and the foundation offer more durability. So if you’re doing lots of barbell or free weight movements, foundation might be slightly better. But interval might do better in explosive or dynamic movements. Plus, interval weigh a little lighter
I'm a waist size 33 - 34" and I usually go with Large on pretty much everything, but on Lululemon if I get any lined shorts in Large, they will not feel good at all, so now I have this debate in my mind
Also, is it just me or did Ten Thousand increase their prices? Interval shorts used to be $55ish and now $68. Still better than Lululemons but now same price :/
@@boofski203 I’ve been with them for 3 years and they’ve always been $68. The set are the only marketed for swimming but I’ve had people comment on my reviews before about wearing the foundation at the beach too
Thanks Brock, great review and update on the gear! I’ve been looking at the tech hoodie and interval pant for colder weather, a video on those would be killer! Also, how durable is your lightweight tee? Has it held up in your workouts? Appreciate it! 🤙🏻
I’ll try to get those videos made! Lightweight will hold up no problem, I would just avoid sharp surfaces like knurling on a barbell. The threads can get caught but not a major deal
@@BrockCovington hmm thats weird i only see the 5, 7 and 9 inch option on the website. And for some reason the 7 inches look bigger on me lol...but maybe its because im only 5,4 and i havr short lefs 🤣
Hiya, great review! I was wondering which shorts would be a perfect fit for my s/o. He’s running a half marathon and usually wears a medium or large (fluctuates between 185-195lbs). Prefers a short inseam, but not too short because of his quadriceps. Sidenote: he is 5’10.
I think he'd love the session short in a 5" inseam! Lightweight, a small zip pocket for keys or gel, and I'd get size large. I'm 5'10" and weigh 187 lbs and large fits me well
I love the session shorts but I’m glad you mentioned their flaw that being the pocket in the fact that you can’t fit anything in there
a real shame right

@@BrockCovington outstanding, Brock….thanks so much for the rapid reply. That helps immensely! Take care…and best wishes on the New Year!

Thanks for the review, just picked up a pair of the interval shorts with your code. Will probably add the foundation and tactical shorts later
Yo this review helped a lot. Looking to buy a pair. Straight to point review.. thanks for explaining the liner and pockets. It honestly helps a lot!

Why you don't get more views is a mystery, your videos are well done.
Appreciated the concise breakdown.
Remember, code Covington!
Really valuable buying guide. Will use your code when I eventually purchase.
5” inseam now too
I m huge fan of shorts
I really like shorts in summer
You should go over the tights and interval pant as well please

Did you get a large??
In the video are your intervals, foundations and tacticals 5" or 7"? Also finding very hard to notice a difference between interval and foundation.
Interval and foundation are 7”, tactical are 5” in this video. The interval short is a lighter, thinner material. Whereas the foundation is much thicker, offers a different waistband and shorter liner
i have long skinny legs. which will look the least baggy?
Probably the set or session shorts
Awesome review thanks buddy!
Which ones are the most stretchy? I don’t want to buy stiff shorts
Ones I can squat in
You can squat in any but none of them are primary spandex. The liner has a lot of stretch to it though. For squats, I’d say the session, set, or interval
What color set shorts do you have in this video? Thanks
It's a tan/khaki color they don't sell anymore
Any idea how often they restock??
Everything I like is sold out. I have been waiting over a month now :(
Which product? Sometimes they are slow to restock on specific colors. Hopefully it isn’t much longer!
@@BrockCovington both the interval shorts and foundation. All blue colors are sold out in 9 inch linerless. :(
@@cutipustotallus307 Sorry to hear that! Sometimes they update their stock randomly so I'd just check the website every few days
Very concise! I’m interested in the session short for lower body training. I’m 6’1” and 180lbs and most shorts I buy are medium. I noticed you buy large, is that just with this particular brand?
I have large legs so a medium would be too tight on me. I wear a large in other brands as well

What size were you wearing for the session shorts? A 5 in or 7 in?
Those are the 5” in the video
When you have butt sweat does it show a lot more than the others for the 3 shorts you mentioned? Which short doesn't show any butt sweat?
I’d say the foundation hide it best but if that’s your primary concern, it really comes down to choosing a dark color
What size should I get for interval & foundation 6’1 195 pounds
I would guess large but refer to their sizing charts
On your regular short size, is the liner version very tight or is it usable?
It's not very tight unless you have massive legs or get the wrong size
I'm a waist size 33 - 34" and I usually go with Large on pretty much everything, but on Lululemon if I get any lined shorts in Large, they will not feel good at all, so now I have this debate in my mind

the ones shown in the video are 5" and color "light grey"
