    Wish things worked this well with my husband in a MCF... He has only been there for about 4 months and yells and kicks and throws and won't let the care partners help him with the shower. Very difficult to get him clean. The barber lady came yesterday and he absolutely refused to get a haircut. He is looking so shabby. I know I have to get over it, but it is sad to watch him - - -a man who was always so meticulous. Thanks Teepa.

      Same issue my husband can get violent when any hygiene is attempted from cutting his nail to showers up to hair care. I'm afraid of infection and getting hurt, to be honest

    • @Jennifr1966
      @Jennifr1966 13 днів тому

      @debbielittle9592 try the same thing. Maybe say something is in his hair, take him to the bathroom to see if he can see it, then maybe start with the washcloth thing the same way. Then say "do you see that in your hair? Let me see if I can get it. " (of course, no), "hmm, let me try this (get a wet wash cloth), start in the back), "would you like to get the front?" Do it the same way. Maybe have the stylist nearby.
      If he's doing well, say, "I'm going to get 'X' to look at this" and let them start in the back, since the towel is already on him. You might can at least get a partial haircut this way.
      Does he do better a certain time of day? I would look at that as well. 😊

    I'm just beginning in this journey 😢...right now I'm dealing with sundowners and weird (for him) actions. Like making the bed around me at 5:30 in the morning and getting dressed the minute he gets up where he was lucky to dress by 4:00 in the afternoon. Constantly doing the dishes and worrying what's for dinner....just to name a few things.

      Hi, !sonalsuthar5119. Thanks for reaching out with your question. I'm wondering if you might want to check out Teepa's Hand-under-hand technique so that you can offer her comfort and when she is holding you it shouldn't hurt either of you. Here's one video (ua-cam.com/video/vvm2RSFMZeY/v-deo.html) that might give you some idea. I also wonder if you might use a singing/songs or some kind of rhythm to help her relax when she tenses up. If you'd like to talk to someone in more detail, please contact consult@teepasnow.com for a free 30-minute session.

    OK, Teepa.. now show us how to do that with a bedridden person with crusty scalp and shedding dead skin like 500 lizards simultaneously. That's my 90 year old mom. She was in an MVA on Nov. 12, was in hospital for 4 days then transferred to a nursing home where, when awake, she refused bathing of any kind, and it was thought she was going to die. I brought her home "to die" on Feb. 1 (today is March 7) but instead, she's rallied and she STILL won't allow bathing. The roots of her hair is basically cemented to her scalp and even combing it doesn't change the shape of it (she looks like Albert Einstein on a bad day) and the dead skin everywhere is absolutely disgusting. She won't even put lotion on herself!!!! She literally has clouds of dead skin flying around every time she moves I am seriously not joking.... (much like PigPen in the Charlie Brown cartoon with the dirt). HOW DO I BATHE HER IN THAT SITUATION????? Every word from her is "NO".

    • @teepasnowvideos
      @teepasnowvideos  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi, @freeatlast8282, I'm so sorry that you are feeling so frustrated with trying to help you mom. That isn't a good feeling. Maybe we need to think about how we are asking the questions if every other word is "No." I'm wondering if you would like to connect with one of our team members to talk things through. Even with all you've shared here, we have more questions before we can offer possible solutions. Please contact us at consult@teepasnow.com or call 1-877-877-1671 to set up a free 30-minute session. This journey is hard for everyone, but if we connect we might be able to get the right support for all.

    If I use this excuse every time to getv them into the bathroom, will they catch on? I can definitely see the "let's look at your face in the mirror" once or twice...???
    Also, the frustrated patient - most definitely my mom - after you've apologized and they have said their peace, then what? Do you just say that we'll work this out together and you just want to be there for them, or what?
