  • Trying to track down random taxis in Poland was not easy due to the language barrier. This episode proves why Poland is a safe country to travel. Unfortunately, I left my suitcase in a Polish taxi in Torun on my way to the train station to board my train to Gdansk and what comes after was a series of dramatic twists and headaches.

Protip for the future: in Poland you can return the ticket if you missed the train (they will charge you 5-50% of the price) or you can change the time and date of the departure without additional costs.

PLEASE be more alert and careful next time! You are foreigner in the country,😊 you do not speak language. And most of all taxi drivers in Poland are are ...differet. Some of them are crooks. BTW, do not be afraid the Police in Poland. They are all right, nor corrupter and helpful.

I always have good encounters with our taxi drivers but yeah there will be some odd ones who will try to take their chances

Generally, if you're taking a taxi in Poland, it's best to find a taxi company that operates in the given city and order one by phone rather than take a random car off the street.
This way you can reach out to the company's central to find the vehicle and its' driver after the fact if needed.
And if you're really in a rush, snap a photo of the company logo, their phone number and the taxi number (even better, license plate) though in this case it probably wouldn't help much.

whenever your train is going late and you will miss your next train you can go to the train conductor and tell it. there is a chance that the train will wait for you :)

leaving my stuff in a taxi is one of my greatest fears in a foreign (safe) country. When traveling I started leaving my door open when i leave the taxi and getting to baggage first before closing my door. That's regardless of trust i don't think it would be done of purpose by the taxi driver - it might be me forgetting or taxi driver, i just don't want to end up in such situation.

Only Uber/Bolt. Most of my bad experiences in Europe (scams, overcharging and rudeness) are from local taxi services.

You shouldn't let it go my friend, but report to the police. For such performance this crook would face at least 2 years if it's his first time.

You want to ruin a taxi drivers life cuz some dumbass forgot his own shit. If the driver was shady, he wouldn’t be returning that briefcase in perfect condition. There are people out there in the world who forget their pets and even kids in the car, you expect that old man to keep track of other people’s luggage, dumbas$! And Sheku, you are responsible for your own shit, no one else is, you should have given that taxi driver a good tip for driving around with your $hit, wasting gas.
