Just purchased to monitor my two grandchildren who are both type one. My daughter has it, and I used it when they slept over and fell in love with this thing. I will now be able to monitor them without constantly running to their devices. Game changer!
I live in the UK and have a Sugar Pixel. My 4 year old daughter is Type 1. This device is fantastic, especially to be able to check quickly what her numbers are through the night! It's all set up through my phone and it's amazing that the device still displays her readings when I am away from the house.... Handy for my husband or mum looking after her. Works great with CamAPS, G6 and Xdrip. Have ordered another one for my daughter's nursery.
I just got one last week after having seen it on a shelf behind Tom Vesely during one of his Type One Talks videos--I naturally had to ask what it was, he replied, I looked it up and bought it on the spot... I keep mine on the desk in my home office under my monitor so that I can keep tabs during my workday (when I usually have issues) [though I had a compression low the other morning that triggered the alarm 30 minutes before I was supposed to get up...I could hear it from down the hall even with A/C running and my wife running the shower... plenty loud enough...]
That's awesome! It's always great to hear how people discover and integrate new technology into their daily routines. I know Tom we did a collaboration video about a year ago, he's a really good guy. Sounds like you've found a perfect spot for it on your desk, and it's certainly doing its job with that loud alarm! 😄 It must be quite the conversation starter as well. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I love it. It is much easier to see and hear when you're trending higher/lower. I use a G6 with OP5 looped. I have a Garmin watch connected to my G6, but don't check it as often as glancing at this. I move it from room to room in my home. Since getting this I've been able to keep my numbers pretty much 100% in range at home. I do long car rides at times, I've debated trying to use it traveling with a Hot Spot.
I bought 2 surger pixels a few months ago for my 7 year old son. One in my bedroom so I can watch his number while he sleeps and one in the livingroom. They work so great I'm thinking buying another one to setup at my parents house when they babysit my son.
Good question. The puk is mostly useful for persons who have silenced all alarms as well as people who follow loved ones. For an example if your teen goes low and does not hear their alert the sugar pixel will help you to be aware of the situation. The puk, will allow you to do discretely
I am impressed with this product and would love to have one. I only have 2 issues with it. The cost is more than I am able to pay because more than my income is already going to pay for medical costs. The other reason is that I currently use the Libre so it does not easily access it, hopefully it will in the future. I will have to keep my eye on it and see if I can find some extra money to afford it.
I’m LADA and I have to buy my cgms as I’m not dying from being hypo unaware. Many endos don’t believe adults can get any other types than 2 in my city sadly and I am fighting for coverage for every single thing including my mobility device and soon a lifter. I believe that a device should be considered for coverage if the need is present no matter what your diagnosis is.
I agree. It’s very unfortunate that many diabetics get over looked and under treated because many physicians or endocrinologists are not yet “impressed” with their situation. If possible try to look for a second opinion. Hopefully someone out there will treat you and guide you according to your specific need and not as just another number.
Yes! I love my job. It's super rewarding and gives me the freedom to do UA-cam on my days off for my community. I aim higher than normal on my days on, but not by much. My goal is to always have 20g of carbs either on me or already in my system in case I get called to an emergency that might require me to be physically active for an extended period of time.
How are you functioning at a 52 reading! For me when I'm that low I'm super light headed, shakey and my anxiety is through the roof. No way i could do a video. I wish when i was that low i had that amount of composure.
Luck, I guess. I've been composed as low as 40. The lowest I've been is 32, and I thought I was gonna die. However, I've never passed out or have been hospitalized from a low.
Thanks for providing this content Ben. This is the first time I've seen this gadget, certainly looks very useful. I drive for a living and want a device I can move from vehicle to Vehicle without the need to set up on board wi-fi each time, if even available . My question, will it connect without wi-fi? Bluetooth or 5G maybe? I have a smart watch app, but this would be better.
Can you snooze alarms through the app or do you have to do it manually on the device? I’m thinking about getting one and leave it in our kitchen where we spent most of our time. At night I don’t want to come down to kitchen to snooze if it is going off.
Ordered 2. One had a single pixel cell that was perpetually blue. But I decided to love with it as it was only noticeable from up close. I the. Ordered a third for another room on the house.
Thank you very much. Unfortunately, this device is not yet compatible with Libre Link, yet you might be able to access it through Nightscout. Hopefully, there will be updates in the future.
It connects to the g6 via the Dexcom share app. However it does not talk to the Omnipod. The great news is that as long as it is still connected to WiFi it will share your readings no matter where you go.
@gurugamer8632 Yes. As long as the G6 is sending info to the phone and the phone can relay it to the cloud you can receive it to the Pixel that is connected to WiFi.
Can someone please help me out. I am having trouble setting my Sugar Pixel up. Ive gotten as far as the Sugar Pixel screen reads "No Data" after entering my username and password into the app. Can anyone please help a guy out? Thank you!
This works alongside and with my watch and my phone. It has helped me notice trends quicker because it tells you how many units you were 5 minutes ago or the last reading. The cgm just gives you arrows that aren't sensitive enough (Dexcom G7) . I'm in 97% time in range. I have learned how long my my fast acting insulin is working and can react quicker and stay in range better. I love it. It's always on and in front of me. Well worth the price.
Just ordered 2!

How does it connect to Omnipod 5 and Dexcom G6? If your out will it still show ur BG at home?
This is good to hear 😊

Super interesting, Christopher. I never considered a hot spot.

@gurugamer8632 it connects with Wi-Fi and I think the Follow app. It displays when I'm not home.

That's a great idea 💡 👍 😀
Will be getting one hopefully soon
Keel gadget. One question, regarding the vibrating puck so as to not wake everyone up. But wouldn’t the CGM alarm your phone go on as well?

Thanks for the feedback, Bryan. I sympathize with your situation and hope that you can resolve your financial hardships soon.
Libre 3 direct compatibility is coming imminently.
OOOOOOOOH, I wanna get one!!!

Wow you are a firefighter and a T1D. What sugar values do you aim for while working?
Can anyone clarify does the SUGAR PIXEL work / connect to the LIBRE 2 PLUS (uk) which controls my OMNIPOD 5? Thanks everyone

It can also connect to Mobile Hotspot on and Android Phone in addition to wifi. Also likely Hotspot on Apple Phones.
How strong is the vibration of the puck as a deaf type 1 diabetic??? I want one to be able to wake me up when I go low or high.
Pretty strong. Its ability to wake you will depend on the amount of layering you put over it and how light of a sleeper you are.

Good question Yes you can snooze and disable alarms through the app.
Does my child have to be in the same room in order for it to read? I’m wanting to put one in my bedroom so I can see their numbers while they sleep
No they don't have to be in the same room. They don't even have to be in the same home. The signal is received via the internet via wifi.
Ordered 2. One had a single pixel cell that was perpetually blue. But I decided to love with it as it was only noticeable from up close. I the. Ordered a third for another room on the house.
If you ask for a replacement I’m sure John would accommodate you.
Nice one !
But how does it work with libre ? Is it just for libre 3 and updated virsion of libre 2 ?
Thank you very much. Unfortunately, this device is not yet compatible with Libre Link, yet you might be able to access it through Nightscout. Hopefully, there will be updates in the future.
Hello, is this device yet compatible with Libre Linkup? , i dont use Nightscout.
Sorry it is not yet available with Libre Link
Only works with dexcom? No medtronic devices?
Hi Amanda. Yes only Dexcom right now. Libre is in the works according to rumors. But no word on Medtronic.
Medtronic may never come because its a locked down system 😕
Are you able to turn the Alarm off ?
Yes silencing the alarm is also an option.

Not yet, but the Libre community has been heard, and compatability is in the works.

This seems redundant since I have my BG on my watch... it does look cool though.

Yes waste of money, soon Apple Watch will show BG
100$ is not a reasonable price
