I watched every game and as a K-State student I can openly admit we were terrible last season, the only reason we won 5 games is b/c Jordy is a god. Again, good luck to him in Green Bay and I'm sorry he had to play at K-State for his senior season, the rest of the team didn't deserve that talent.
I love Jordy Nelson, he is the man, too bad our team sucked so much. I feel so sorry that he had to play on a team that went 5-7. He embarassed UT for us, too bad we had to go and lose enough to go 5-7 after that.
he ran a 4.49 at his size that is amazing, he was the 4th wide receiver, Green Bay has a great recieving corps, id highly doubt that any rookie WR would crack that starting lineup their first year. He was the 4th receiver and had 366 yards.
give him a few years and he might be one of the elite receivers in the NFL but there is an X factor other than route running, speed, and hands that it takes to become someone like Jerry Rice.
Great video. Jordy Nelson is the man. He's like a bigger and slightly faster version of Wes Welker. I hope the Eagles get him because he's exactly the game-breaking receiver they have missed since T.O. left.
I agree wholeheartedly with all that you have said. I do trust Thompson, and his selection of Nelson is rapidly starting to grow on me as I watch this video. It'd be great to see Steve Slaton drafted by the Pack tomorrow.
lol, i laughed when i saw beasly at the end. i really hope jordy pans out. with him and jennings stretching the field, driver taking the slant and grant in the backfield, hopefully the pack can have another great season. go pack!
the reason i kinda sorta knew he'd be good in the pros is because, at kstate he was the whole offense. he really was the only one on that offense that could play at a pro level, and everyone knew it. opponents would game plan knowing all they had to stop was nelson and they'd win. and they couldn't stop nelson. they'd double and TRIPLE team him, didn't matter. couldn't stop nelson. and this was in the big 12, and back then it was a really good conference. pro db's couldn't stop him. i kinda knew he'd do well in the pros, but not gonna lie, didn't think he'd do as well as he has.
To be honest...I wouldn't compare anyone to Jerry Rice. He pretty much holds every receiving record that exists. And he only ran a 4.6. Dude was a beast.
the packers have always liked to draft receivers with return ability because it means that they usually will have good run after catch ability. (antonio freeman, robert brooks, terrence murphy, greg jennings, james jones) if jordy becomes our return man, it's just a bonus, but they drafted him as a receiver. he's a good returner, but it's not like he's devin hester or anything close.
Wow Great vid, Nelson's a beast. Great song. All you ppl who say that he's not fast sound really studpid. He has all the prerequisits needed to be an elite football player now a days. He's Big and not afraid to be physical, explosive, strong, great vertical, and yes Blazing speed, he was a 100m state champ in track, and has run 4.3's before, so all you who compare him to JR (who was also very fast) sound real silly saying he aint fast. And he's got skills: hands, route running, yac yards. Etc
Yeah, its depressing to think what he could ahve done with a team that wasnt terrible. Hopefully Green Bay can help him out and Jordy can set some records there. Class act, hope he does well.
jordy is faster than jurevicious. seems like he's just a low-key guy that people don't notice that much, until he runs right past you. he just always gets the job done and makes plays. he will be a great addition to the team.
I think he would fit in nicely with the Redskins, his style reminds me alot of Chris Cooley and they would compliment each other very well. Hopefully we'll be lucky enough to get him in the second round...
Rieksfier: typical jealous Bears fan. You can keep Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall. Believe me, Packers fans don't care. They like Nelson just fine. It's pointless arguing who the better receiver is because, ultimately, Nelson's team knows how to win and has been dominating the Bears for the past 20 years. That's all that matters. Jeffery and Marshall can only wish their team was like that.
Yeah, it crushed me that Green Bay was a shade too late to draft the electrifying Slaton. He would have been a great addition to the team. It's up to Brandon Jackson to prove that he can be the semblance of a competent backup for Grant.
it's scary to think that they're saying that jordy could gain 10-15 lbs without losing any speed or quickness. he's going to be a monster in the west coast offense in gb. he already looks like a giant compared to the guys covering him. how is anyone going to stop him on the west coast slants and crosses?
The reason Jordy Nelson will never be a Jerry Rice isn't because he isn't good. It's because he plays in an offense where 4-5 different great receivers share the load. Rodgers has so many weapons, he spreads the ball around. Jerry Rice was the 49ers main target while he played there. That isn't how the Packers' offense works so there's no point in comparing Nelson to him because he will never have the stats that Rice had. The eye test, however, will tell you a lot of things that stats can't. This guy is a completely reliable receiver, one of the very best. He's big, strong, a fantastic route runner, and his timing with Rodgers is just exceptional. Packers fans are blessed to have him.
If you know anything about the Packers, you would know that prior to the 2014 season, the Packers had been deep at the WR position: Jennings, Drivers, Jones, Cobb, Nelson, Finley. They've lost a lot of receivers so it has just been mostly Nelson and Cobb this year(easy enough to see looking at their great stats) but the rookie Adams is coming along really well, and there will be more weapons next year with others like Abbrederis potentially coming back from injury. Point is, Rodgers likes to spread the ball around when he can...which is why Nelson's stats will never rival those of Rice's.
That's not a bad idea, as long as we get Jordy as a Redskin, I don't really care who else we would draft though, the skins have done a decent job in the draft over the last few years.
Will Blackmon is a return threat who took a few to the house last season while healthy. Tramon Williams also went all the way on one. #1 WR- #85 Jennings #2 WR- #80 Driver #3 WR- #89 Jones #4 WR- #81 Robinson #5 WR- #87 Nelson Jordy Nelson will eventually be a starting WR for us. He's a combo of Wes Welker/Steve Largent/Wayne Chrebet/Brandon Stokely/Tom Zbikowski. WHO? If Ted likes Jordy Nelson, he surely likes Tommy Z
I think he would be a perfect addition to my team, The Vikings. But chances are he wont be there for one of our 3rd round picks and we wont take him in rounds 1 or 2.
He had close to 400 yards with 33 catches as a 4th receiver as a ROOKIE. Hes 6'3 and runs a 4.49, so what if he wont get any faster? that is plenty fast. There are plenty of great receivers that run over a 4.5. marques colston, larry fitzgerald etc.
because he was drafted to a team that already had great receivers, Donald Driver, Greg Jennings and James Jones locked in ahead of him before he stepped into training camp, which doesnt make any sense, if he had gone to a team that needed a starting receiver he wouldve probably gotten close to the 1,000 yard receiving mark, but he was stuck as a 4th receiver and still got 33 catches for 366 yards which isnt bad for a rookie 4th option watch?v=QDlPl4z08IY
yea i agree with that part but like i said before for some reason people like to compare to other players so they can understand the abilities of each player but yea i doubt he'll be Jerry Rice he might get close even if i am wrong i wouldn't mind you know but as for everything else you say i agree with
Pats dont need him he would have a ahrd time winning the #4 wr spot there so deep Even if the release Washington, Stallworth The will still have Moss, Welker, Gaffney, Jackson n dont forget Watson lines up in the slot sometimes
We are going to cut Bodiford/Martin more than likely. This kid gives us something this team has lacked since Desmond Howard, and that's a real return threat. His hands are insane too.
jordy could be ahead of jones on the depth chart by the end of the season. jones is good, but there is a reason nelson was taken at the top of the 2nd and james jones was taken in the mid 3rd. nelson is more talented. whether it translates to the nfl field is anyone's guess, but i definitely think nelson jordy has a chance. they both have excellent hands, but nelson is bigger, faster, and better after the catch.
Jerry Rice, I don't think so. I really do respect Jordy, even as a KU fan but he is a #3receiver in the league. Nothing wrong with that, I would have been glad if he would have been a Jayhawk because he was a walk-on, worked hard and made himself into a 2nd round NFL draft pick, amazing.
I would rather have seen the Pack select Sweed as well. This guy doesn't seem to project all that great to the pro level, but I've been wrong before. However, I do remember watching Nelson giving a great performance ina bowl game last year. Go Packers!
A walk on is a player who makes the team but isn't offered a scholarship to play. Most players at the Div. I level get scholarships to play on the team. Generally the walk ons are guys who aren't good enough to get a scholarship, but sometimes they get good enough to earn a scholarship later. It's probably weird to think of scholarships to play sports, isn't it? Playing football isn't really scholarly. That's the way it is in America though.
Nice vid and looks like a great player in college. But from those clips I'm not sure he translates well in the NFL. We'll see though. As a former walk on we know he's an excellent worker and can improve well.
Nelson and Welker have two different skill sets. Welker is more quick than fast, and is tough but small with hands of glue. Jordy is not AS quick and a little faster when it comes to running straight. He is also 6'3 217 pounds and a tough tall physical receiver that can go across the middle or beat someone man on man. He also has hands of glue. both are great You can't compare the two. The only similiarity is race. Would you compare Steve Smith to marques colston?
there is one thing i will agree with in your statement he hasn't proven himself...however everyone makes comparisons for a player coming out of college to a NFL level look at the drafts they say well this X player is like this y player so that part is very artificial about saying only K. St. fans say that stuff
Absolutely ridiculous how right you were man. One of the best Packers receivers ever
Jordy, Hutson, and Sharpe are my top 3.
Agreed!
+ryanbxxxx Donald driver and Greg Jennings where good too
One of my favorite videos 14 years ago when I wanted the pack to draft him. So fun to go back and watch it now!
I watched every game and as a K-State student I can openly admit we were terrible last season, the only reason we won 5 games is b/c Jordy is a god. Again, good luck to him in Green Bay and I'm sorry he had to play at K-State for his senior season, the rest of the team didn't deserve that talent.
yesterday Jordy Nelson caught his first of many NFL touchdowns
I love Jordy Nelson, he is the man, too bad our team sucked so much. I feel so sorry that he had to play on a team that went 5-7. He embarassed UT for us, too bad we had to go and lose enough to go 5-7 after that.

Wow, this kid can do everything! I don't see any problem with his speed. He may push for a starting spot.
nine years later and nothing has changed....great then and great now. He is fun to watch...:-)
JORDY NELSON IS STILL A STUD.
He's got a Super Bowl ring already!
GO PACK.
This video certainly aged well.....
i fucking love this video! jordy is so under rated hes so dynamic and creates mismatches
finnally we got a playmaker to put at return man i think he is going to be a fan favorite for the pack. i hope.
give him a few years and he might be one of the elite receivers in the NFL but there is an X factor other than route running, speed, and hands that it takes to become someone like Jerry Rice.
Nelsons a beast! He is gonna be the best WR in the draft and the best WR on the packers in a few years.
Looks like a trememdous slot receiver and kick returner. Tremendous speed.
Jordy is the BOMB most 70+ yard yes in a season ever! Holds that record over Jerry freaking rice Don't you dare underestimate Jordy!
Great video. Jordy Nelson is the man. He's like a bigger and slightly faster version of Wes Welker. I hope the Eagles get him because he's exactly the game-breaking receiver they have missed since T.O. left.
You called it man.
that last part at the end of the video is so true.
I agree wholeheartedly with all that you have said. I do trust Thompson, and his selection of Nelson is rapidly starting to grow on me as I watch this video. It'd be great to see Steve Slaton drafted by the Pack tomorrow.
When the Packers picked him I remember saying "Who?"
Well I know him now, and I'm glad the Packers got him!
My favorite Packer ever
It's funny that he's even better in the nfl....
lol, i laughed when i saw beasly at the end. i really hope jordy pans out. with him and jennings stretching the field, driver taking the slant and grant in the backfield, hopefully the pack can have another great season. go pack!
He's going to be a 2nd round pick and an absolute steal! Hope he becomes a Raider.
dammbleth2 ten years later...lol
Don Maynard,Ed Mc Cafrey,Wes Welker,Don Hutson,Tim Dwight and there is a lot more I can't think of right now
the reason i kinda sorta knew he'd be good in the pros is because, at kstate he was the whole offense. he really was the only one on that offense that could play at a pro level, and everyone knew it. opponents would game plan knowing all they had to stop was nelson and they'd win. and they couldn't stop nelson. they'd double and TRIPLE team him, didn't matter. couldn't stop nelson. and this was in the big 12, and back then it was a really good conference. pro db's couldn't stop him. i kinda knew he'd do well in the pros, but not gonna lie, didn't think he'd do as well as he has.

dude is a boss he never got alot of respect now he show you
You’ll be missed, sweet prince

I'm looking forward to seeing this talent torching the bears, lions and vikes this fall.
Yeah you called it!
dude he is a freaking beast!!!
im drafting him!
It's kinda cool you said that 4 years ago and now he was like the hero of the superbowl.
I mean, he's not Jerry Rice but it's still cool
Wow Great vid, Nelson's a beast. Great song. All you ppl who say that he's not fast sound really studpid. He has all the prerequisits needed to be an elite football player now a days. I love how the packers didn't just pick a wideout, they picked a football player
"Thanks for not sucking like everyone else" lol didn't see that coming
LMAO LOOK WHERE HE IS NOW!!! 1+ CHAMPIONSHIPS LATER!!!
Yeah, its depressing to think what he could ahve done with a team that wasnt terrible. Hopefully Green Bay can help him out and Jordy can set some records there. Class act, hope he does well.
well hi is perry good im a quorter back in ma barcity foot bal team in high scool iand i have such a good reciever
jordy is faster than jurevicious.

They sadly made playoffs
He's no Jerry Rice, but man has he had a great career and still going! Great receiver.
Disappointed Knick's Fan ha
Yeah, it crushed me that Green Bay was a shade too late to draft the electrifying Slaton. He would have been a great addition to the team. It's up to Brandon Jackson to prove that he can be the semblance of a competent backup for Grant.

Luigix99x true but davante adams is gonna be big...
Divine Aria Nelson got good when those guys left, he is great, don't put say some 's how it's the system.
+Ayesha Mohameed I wish this was true
former walk-on safety??? wow.
That's not a bad idea, as long as we get Jordy as a Redskin, I don't really care who else we would draft though, the skins have done a decent job in the draft over the last few years.
jordy nelson is a beast
this dude can catch
love this guy
GO PACK!!! This guy rocks!
giants need a player like him, i hope they move up in the 2nd round to get him if he's still there.
and he was a safety when he walked on!
LOL at last slide!
Will Blackmon is a return threat who took a few to the house last season while healthy.
Tramon Williams also went all the way on one.
#1 WR- #85 Jennings
#2 WR- #80 Driver
#3 WR- #89 Jones
#4 WR- #81 Robinson
#5 WR- #87 Nelson
Jordy Nelson will eventually be a starting WR for us. He's a combo of Wes Welker/Steve Largent/Wayne Chrebet/Brandon Stokely/Tom Zbikowski.
WHO?
If Ted likes Jordy Nelson, he surely likes Tommy Z
He'll be a legit threat in two years.. But Jennings,Driver and Jones (when healthy) are better WR options.
MichaelBearwalf lmao
Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael bad you Michael
Don't think he's under the radar anymore. Seem's like a young Wayne Chrebet (hands) with awesome speed and more size.
he'll be a # 3 with driver and jennings, what a trio that is...
Idk about Jerry Rice but he's definitely the closest white receiver to come close
Steve largent
+Spencer snowman Jordy will be greater than largent
Archangel760 What does color have anything to do with anything
I think he would be a perfect addition to my team, The Vikings. But chances are he wont be there for one of our 3rd round picks and we wont take him in rounds 1 or 2.
I looked up Jerry Rice Draft, what does this have to do with anything?
4.49 is not good for a physical wr that is 6'3 217 pounds? and a 4.41 in the spring?
the average wide receiver time is around 4.55
Actually, he ran a 4.49 at the combine and a 4.4 at his pro day
Awesome!!
Thanks Jordy!! Your the best!!!
If he slips into the mid-late 3rd rd, that would be a steal for the SKINS!!!

this guy is going to be a great target for A-Rod (Aaron Rodgers)or Brian Brohm

Even if the release Washington, Stallworth
The will still have Moss, Welker, Gaffney, Jackson n dont forget Watson lines up in the slot sometimes
If the skins dont trade for or draft a big reciever... i feel like hes got a very good chance of going to washington in the second round
We are going to cut Bodiford/Martin more than likely.

great pick
It's funny reading all the dumb comments from 6 years ago.
Dammit Vinny, trade the 21st for 2 second rounders. Grab Calais Campbell in the top and Jordy in the bottom on the second.
I would rather have seen the Pack select Sweed as well. This guy doesn't seem to project all that great to the pro level, but I've been wrong before. However, I do remember watching Nelson giving a great performance ina bowl game last year. Go Packers!

See: Jordy is a god.

DJ80s lol doesn't translate well. He's the best receiver in Kansas state history and he's a leading receiver in the packers. How dumb do you frel
Funny how he makes those amazing catches, but dropped easy catches in the Super Bowl...
Good thing he made up for it!
Nelson and Welker have two different skill sets. Welker is more quick than fast, and is tough but small with hands of glue. He is turning heads with the Pac but be for real Jerry Rice ! lol
Jordy Nelson is pretty good now but I wouldn't say he's the next jerry rice. Not even close.
hey now... i never mentioned race.
YOU did though.
the guys i mentioned are/were great players.
why so defensive about those comps?
nelson is great
Lets go Billlls
