As a current owner of a previous 2024 992.1 T, I have to say new pricing @$120k+ for a base is putting this 992 out of reach for many at the entry level. The 718 are now the go to for a base but for some people a tad small and some will think a little under performer.
The price hasn't gone up much; it's just adjusted for inflation, since the release of its predecessor in 2020. It only seems drastic because Porsche didn't adjust the price of their later production .1 (like yours) that much. Most people "stretching" for a 911 would buy one used or CPO anyway
The 718 is a way better deal at this price point. Especially the GTS 4.0. If I needed more room I would go with a BMW M3. The 992 price is just out of line.
As a serial 911 owner, the car looks nice. But there are a couple of areas where things have gone backwards: The digital tacho, the start button (which are entirely cost driven) and thos annoying nannying electronics which you have to disable every time. For that reason, I'd buy a 992.1
I understand full well that a lot of people wont agree with some of the design choices on this facelift, but for me I think it will just take some getting used to. I already feel like it compliments the 992.1 well with its differences, and I’m excited to see the performance that these new 911s are capable of.
Would be awesome if you could do a video of your top 3 favourite cars if you could choose any for a typical 3 car garage, after having driven basically all cars out there. Love your videos!
I drove one for 2 days first week of September in Austrian Alps w Porsche Experience and was not enthralled with the nannies I couldn't turn off unlike my wife's 992.1 Targa. I was told they may not be included in the North American version but it would be a problem for me if they were left in. Nice review BTW.
Love this video Max. I agree, less is more and the 992 and 992.2 Carrera are so tempting. Who needs more? I have a 2021 C43 Wagon (which I loved your video of - the black one!) and have the same feeling - that is that the C63 isn’t necessary. C43 with 385bhp and AWD does most things very well! Keep the excellent videos coming! Thanks Max.
The best part is that the Carrera 992.2 is now carrying bigger turbos from 992.1 GTS (plus S sized calipers and IC from 992.1 Turbo) which means that you can go from 394HP to 620HP+ with just a software tune.
I had a .1 c2s loaner last week in anticipation of ordering a .2 base. I think the reason for push button start is because in the hybrid the engine doesn’t actually crank. Whereas as you turn the fake key in the .1 you hear it crank as you hold the key over. That and the vag cost cutting natch
very good car but damn im so bent out of shape they took the real analog tach away...... it wasn't necessary except for cheapness, the other digital gauges are cool, but it seems like they would always leave that one, it is the focus, and I believe a car feels more premium if you focus on making the focus points higher quality,
With this car getting the pre-face lift GTS turbos what do you think about a tune on this ? In theory it should be a monster and easily get a 100 WHP and Torque boost even with just a stage 1 tune
Long way from Hahn AB when we were tooling around in a 69 2002 tii that had all the Alpina bits. 930 Turbo coming up rather fast…….and get this a 600 black limo Pullman running on his bumper. I wish they would give the cayman gt4 420hp engine to the 992 Carrera T if it comes out at all. Having a drivers car with an NA engine below the GT3 would be so cool. Especially now that the new cayman is electric.
So this weighs 200lbs more than my 991.1 Carrera S with about the same power. Shame about the weight increase but it sounds like a stout performer. I imagine with a tune that this would be a monster. I don’t think someone can go wrong with buying any modern 911. I’d love to drive a modified 993 or 964 to see what those feel like.
I’m in sunny South African and this car is almost a million rands more than the M4 competition, noise insulation sounds really bad for a daily and that suspension doesn’t seem to inspire confidence on less perfect roads. Guess the question is is this a better daily compared to the M4 that costs much less and offers similar driving excitement?
