I loved this webinar. Whenever Stephen talks about languages and the related studies, I feel I receive a stream of fresh air which wipes away all the nonsense of conscious traditional vocabulary studying and gets replaced with the clarity of language acquisition. His work changed my life in terms of how to go about learning a new language. Also, the fact that he has published his work for free speaks tremendously about him as a linguist. Thank you so much, Stephen. By the way, the part @28:35 when Stephen leans forward and rumbles "I like the Beatles." made me smile, I don't know why.
Stephen, I have taught efl classes for over 30 years, and owe you a huge debt of gratitude. Thanks to your research and insights, I've been able to help hundreds of students on their language acquisition journey. What a pleasure to listen to you.
man you are awesome, it's such a sad fact that after a month of uploading this video I'm the second person who is writing a comment on it,I'll try to share it as much as I can, that's the least I can do to appreciate all your helps in my language learning process
Dear Sir, I am from Bangladesh, I researched to find out the impact of the Input and Affective filter hypothesis from two classroom observations in my Teaching Practicum and Classroom Management course for my MA degree at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh. I aim to research more deeply by observing the English listening & Speaking Course students from the beginning of the course to the end of the course. The emphasis would be on pronunciation, note taking, and understanding improvement from listening to speech, and conversation after providing Comprehensible Input. I am a researcher in SLA which is why you are my "Comprehensible Input".
I am an anglophone living in Québec and when I go into a store and speak French, I do not appreciate a reponse in English. I have put effort into learning French. My French is not perfect, but it's fluent. For me, it's more like a slap in the face when the francophone interlocutor does not respect my use of French. I am not unusual. Other other-language speakers feel the same way to the point of frustration, in fact.

Thank you for shering Timor-Leste 🤝
I have a theory that those who learn languages as an adult most easily have the highest tolerance for chaos. They can jump in without getting anxious.

How to read stories given the fact that we have not enough vocabulary to understand the messages behind within the story ?
Try "graded readers".
