Your on the ball bru . Gainline success / hard running and successful gainline defence and scrum dominance that is our DNA in short BUT we are in for a mutation/evolution in that regard because Rassie and Tony is working on our attack . Cheers bru
Defense has to evolve just as attack has to evolve. Our defense is not based on making every tackle in the way they count them for the stats. Our defense is more about disrupting the attack than it is about stopping the man. To measure our defense look at tries scored per game. Look at clean line breaks. Look at turn overs.
Lets not forget opponents have analysed our defence structure. And doing there utmost to beat it. So to maintain high percentages will be tough.Awesome video again bud!!!🎉🎉🎉
Hi Kenneth, thanks for your informative videos and also thanks for keeping it clean and decent videos, also appreciate you acknowledging male and female viewers 👍🏽, from a SAFA living in Sydney!
This is a good show. Let’s also remember we were making 7 to 9 changes per game. All in all, our game is getting better and better. Next year we will even better and come 2026 and 2027 we will be extremely difficult to beat.
Also Bru, as far as the other podcasts are concerned, you've got to go check out Tim from eggchasers, he's become an honorary South African and inside rugby with Mark.
This is very unusual.Typically teams lose allot of defensive cohesion when moving from a conservative to a more attacking style. One of the explanations maybe the fact that we are stronger than the opposition (compared to for instance Carl du Plessis' team who undertook the same journey). The other reason I think is because the person driving this change ,Tony Brown,is the assistant coach and not the head coach. So the Boks are moving forward with this transformation in a much more incremental fashion, still maintaining many aspects of their previous style. Also these players are extremely experienced.
"The show with the one guy who can get a bit negative sometimes" - Keo & Zels 🤣 Also a massive fan, even though Zels definitely gets a little negative sometimes ;)
Really enjoyed that dive into the analytics! We are in a good place. The pessimist in me does feel like our 4th quarter stratospheric tries scored stat was heavily influenced by the Argentina game when they were down with cards. I’ve no doubt we would have won comfortably even without the cards but I’m not sure we’d have scored all those tries. But as you say, we’re a tough fan base to please sometimes 😂 We love that team though. I look forward to how you think the end of year tour will go and squad predictions! I’ll be interested to see if Hanekom gets a call up, he really looks good (I’m a Sharks fan but a Bok fan first 😂) Excited to see Damian Willemse back in action as well. Lots of returns to look forward to!
Thanks for the video. For me the statistics on missed tackles is a hard one to take simply on face value. Considering the manner of defensive processes we use, many "attempted tackles" are pressure runs in order to cut off passing lanes etc. This could validate many missed tackles of any team using a similarblitz defence approach. I think tackle stats and gainline success against our defence needs to be considered together as I don't think these stats are mutually exclusive. Lookingat the fourth test with 37 missed tackles was also the test not comceding one try vs the All Blacks, which is contradictory when only looking at missed tackles. I know it was mentioned (can't remember on which show it was) is that the new attacking style still needs a work on when errors are made out wide and having to transition from attack to defence. That would be an interesting stat looking at gainline defence and missed tackles
I would say though, sometimes when you have the stats of you vs every opponent, score or conceded, it get jumbled up. Its great to see stats of one team vs another team.
from what I saw as a kiwi, the boks had great defence. But some games it was amazing, like effing amazing and then a couple games it was as if you were trying something new on attack and the mental clutter kind of flowed on to other parts of the game like defence slipping a bit. Thats what I saw though. Average score of great, from some games being sensational and others dipping a little. So if anything it was more the side by side comparison game to game that changed. All blacks defence has gone soft. Was much better in the last game in the last 20
Yeah great point - I have always wondered what other teams see when watching their teams play the Boks. I'm always nervous when opposing teams are attacking us, especially All Blacks and Ire.
Lots of valueable hard work taking many hours, but with outstanding and interesting results. The following will interest you. Many coaches especially at amateur level are of the opinion that you have two targets - 65% each possesion and territory but they still lose some matches. They do not understand that with so much success that if you miss 3 tackles you can get 3 tries scored against you. In addition you can make 3 handling errors and get another 3 tries scored against you and lose the match ! There are therefore a lot more to it. Many fans and others does not realise that rugby consists out of 11 major plays and within every one of the 11 you have to be capeable of being competant in all the different aspects of each play - and cut mistakes down to a minimum. At one of SA's prominent schools we went through a season without losing a match and without a point being scored against us. The opposition was on the field for 2 reasons only. So that we can have a match and to defend ! How is that Bru ?
Doug Howlett 2004, Dagg in 2010 😢 they still hurt. We need to sort that post halftime dip. We always have it eh. Game gets scrappy and slows down, not good. Need to keep that intensity from the start of the game going. Edit - yeah you right about Zels, I think he was a rugby ball in a past life. The guy is insufferable when talking about "Tonyball"
Defense looks fine to me, i dont recall nz cutting us open like usual. Boys are finally tackling legs not bear hugging coz of head clashes. Only issues is we r useless in the pole kicking and stopping teams like Ireland drop goaling us into oblivian because nobody has skills to counter that by dropping a few in ourselves. Libbok is just too one dimensional and any no 10 can kick out to wings.
SECONDLY I think we just feel defence is not as good anynore due to those first time tackles that were missed that lead to tries aka vs Argentinia in the first game. But further it looks good.
Yes that stat doesn't look great will certainly need to improve before rwc 27!Wnt win the tuff games with missed stat tackles!Get em Bokke!💪💪👌👍💪🤝🇬🇧🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

Bringing the stats into your podcast improves it to another level.👍
Great to hear and appreciate that input Jan. Thanks for watching and your feedback.

Exactly right bru - thanks for sharing.

Thank you Jacques and great input from you bru.
Great analysis! Would have been cool to also see the data for the two Irish tests on the same graphs.
Yes, I'll try get that info
Love the Team, Players and your deep dives💯
Thanks bru and appreciate it.
Hahaha lmao! Keo and Zells. We still love you Zells! Also a big fan of those 2!
LOL...me too!

Thanks bru and yes exactly right with the average of 9 changes a game to the starting 15.
I appreciate the stats. Gives a great insight. Thank you for doing this work and presenting it in such an understandable manner.
Glad you liked it Johan and appreciate the feedback.
Howzit Bru, man I'm liking these videos, it's opening up a view that not many consider. Lekka boet 🤙
Also Bru, as far as the other podcasts are concerned, you've got to go check out Tim from eggchasers, he's become an honorary South African and inside rugby with Mark.
Thanks so much for that feedback - really appreciate it.
Thanks bru - I'm familiar with Tim, he's great. I'll check out the other one too. Thank you.

Great insight and points JD, thanks so much bru. appreciate your comments here, I like your thinking.
Thanks for this, data is emotionless, unlike Boks fans for the most part. Good work and please keep it up.
Correct and really appreciate your feedback Rory - thanks for watching 🤙🏼
Winning 4 world cups will make any fan emotional. It's hard to get behind a history of quarterfinal exits.
Hi, thanks for your stats, excellent.
Appreciate it Daniel. 🙏
I found the most interesting stat was average run meters per carry. That was the big difference between the boks and the ab
Yes it's crazy and especially when we as a team gained double the metres than any other team in the tournament.
Well said, Scrum hard, defend solid and constantly develop defence on top of existing DN👌A
That's it Jan. Thanks brother
"The show with the one guy who can get a bit negative sometimes" - Keo & Zels 🤣 Also a massive fan, even though Zels definitely gets a little negative sometimes ;)
LOL...I love the dude, and laugh when he goes off on his rant.
Wow, thanks my bru. Awesome episode
Thanks bru - much appreciated.
@@RugbyBruBlog also agree with you, at the Bokke DNA style of play. Awesome show. Thanks my bru.

Great points and appreciate your feedback. The NH tour will be tough, especially that England game.

Perfectly summed up bru - thanks so much.

Damn bru - that is fascinating and I love it. Thanks for sharing. What are the 11 major plays?

🤣🤣🤣. “He was a rugby ball” Classic.
Strange that in the game with the highest amount of miss tackles in Round 4, All Blacks didn't manage to score a try.
Yes and testament to our scramble defence.
Defense looks fine to me, i dont recall nz cutting us open like usual. Boys are finally tackling legs not bear hugging coz of head clashes.

Thanks Steve - check out the latest video on the flyhalves that I just posted.
SECONDLY I think we just feel defence is not as good anynore due to those first time tackles that were missed that lead to tries aka vs Argentinia in the first game. But further it looks good.
Yes exactly.
There is another aspect of defense that you not looking at. They can't attack if we holding the ball.
Great point.
All Blacks did not score a try in Cape town. Pumas scored one try in Nelspruit
Correct and Oz only scored 1 in Brisbane and 0 in Perth so we did damn well
Yes that stat doesn't look great will certainly need to improve before rwc 27!Wnt win the tuff games with missed stat tackles!Get em Bokke!💪💪👌👍💪🤝🇬🇧🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Thanks bru.
Are you into F1. How about MotoGP.?
Yes both although dont; get to see the MotoGP too often here.
Dude, make your bideis under 10 min and I would gladly watch them. 20 is to long.
thanks for the feedback Cobus.
Put it on double speed... 20 min=10min and Bob's your uncle ;)
Disagree, I like that you go into details that no one else is doing.
Ja man watch Listen to the first half today then the second half tomorrow. Let Bru do bru things.😂
Hey Cobus, I bet you're a gentleman in the bedroom eh bud.
