Hi Jenny Thanks for doing this video, I have bought some of these LED's for use on a layout and I can add that the 'other' lead off the white 'control box' (with the black thing on the end) is actually the Infra red reciever from the remote control, the idea being that you point the remote at the end of the lead, hope that bit helps. Thanks again Happy New Year

Thanks for the comment about the infra red receiver. I’m going to see what I can do about angling mine to get a better connection. 👍

Happy New Year Jenny, first time for me to write to you and to thank you for putting me onto these LED strips. I bought 3 from Wilko but were £20 now, I have just finished fitting them and am very impressed. I have a loft layout in an old house so ceiling is very high, with the lights on 100% they really do exactly what I wanted, I was concerned the light would not reach where I need it, but it sure did. I note someone has already mention that the other part you thought was another type of plug is actually the remote sensor and providing you point the remote at it you get instant response, even from about 15' or 5 metres away. Thumbs up from me Jenny, Bill.

I did look at these on eBay and Amazon but didn’t realise that you could have the constant white on. It looked to me that they were all multi colour so thanks for clearing that up. Roy.

Hi Jenny, for our oversea friends they will probably be available on the well known A-Z store of the other well known auction site we have bought these type of lights from the UK sites. My son has also used these lights on his shelving units which provide excellent lighting to display his collection of Locomotives

Great modelling tip and you are so right in that very few if any modellers actually discuss led lighting. I found a similar product in The Range and have used it for my lighting canopies on my exhibition layouts. With the remote you can adjust the lighting to suit. Great video and as usual well presented.

New subscriber here. I found you after getting recommendations on UA-cam. Guess I watched Sams Trains too much lol.
I've enjoyed binge watching your videos and catching up on everything that is going on. Looking forward to more

Hi Jenny, liked watching this video on your way of using these LED strips. I have two boxes of these strips I got from Aldi and gives me idea how to use on my loft layout. Also seen them for sell in B&M stores.

Hi jenny. It's not a different connector. It's the infrared receiver for the remote.
Also the blue light setting on dim gives a great moonlight effect

Bang-good in China sell something very similar - if you don't mind the long delays before they arrive!

Great to see these being used. I'm wondering how I could put them onto the ceiling - as the layout is in bedrooms. Also how to mask the direct light. Experimentation ahead! By the way use the blue LEDs for nighttime filming when your buildings are lit

Interesting. I obtained a strip of plain white from CPC (usual disclaimer as they say). Cut up and used on 3 different projects. Try searching UA-cam for 'LED strip' for lots of info. about specs., using and powering them.
A friend has put forward the idea of mounting these in conduit over our exhibition layout - they would only need a lightweight support structure. I think he said either plumbing or electrical conduit was much cheaper than the other, but I can't remember which.

I’m planning a lightweight lighting rig for Mynydd Tatws using a strip of these. Could be the answer for exhibition layouts too.

Thanks for this video Jennifer, very informative as ever. I went to the link for Wilkos. Now the price is £20 . I bought a kit off ebay, but not as good as yours the white isn't strictly white like a light blue. But thanks again for all your videos. Bryan

These strips are great. Been using them for years. What I have found out though is that they can cause a bit of interference on FM radio. If you still listen to FM radio that is,,,,

Arrow is on both sides of the strip, which equates to the same pin, when you turn it over. By the way I really do like your videos and you do a fantastic job so Please do NOT take offense.

  • @SammoKarm
    @SammoKarm 3 роки тому

When you connected the 5 pin strip connector to the LED strip you actually connected it the wrong way round, the instructions tell one to connect the arrow to the +, but you did not.
Did you power it up afterward or was this for demo only.
Just thought I would point this out as my instructions told me, as I have just mentioned. I have No intention of any malice, just an observation. Later you mention it but the arrow on each side Is only on one side, then you have to look for the +
