Such a throwback to Myskina and her prince racquets lol. I remember at this time that pundits thought Hingis had come back a bit too soon and although her touch/court craft was more or less intact, she had definitely lost a step and in general her game was lacking consistency.
If you look closely, Myskina’s forehand is very similar to Lindsay Davenport. Both of them get the power from soft hands, wristy leverage, racquet speed generation , and off the back foot ( reverse forehand) springiness
That is not coincidence. Robert Lansdorp worked with Lindsay and Myskina both during their careers. Robert is known for forehand technique. He also worked with Sharapova.
Such a bad match from Swiss Miss, I feel like she played in slow-motion. Her FH had never been her weapon but in this match it was nothing but bad. I have never been a fan of Myskina and I still can't understand how she could have won even 1 Slam and Dementieva ended her career with zero.
It was dreadful in Hingis's later career when she just used to roll her FH in. She really lost a lot of confidence on that shot as her career progressed.
@@jmiller05 Exactly, I feel it in the same way, she lost her mojo when hitting FH, it started from 2000 and getting worse and worse, even when she came back in 2006, it still wasn't the same as it was between 1997 and 1999.
I am more surprised you don't like Myskina? I think she's an underappreciated legend actually haha I fully understand why Myskina won a major and Elena didn't, Nastya was a bit less brittle and had better hands. I'm glad at least one of them won one.
@@chriscze6153 I didn't write that I didn't like her, it is just she was one of many players in WTA and for sure I was fond of different players in that era. I really liked Paola Suarez, Ai Sugiyama and Chanda Rubin. They all had great doubles skills, it was always fun to watch them playing singles. Ai's backhand down the line was out of this world, Paola's FH was outrageous and Chanda's ability to attack to the net during singles matches was fearless.
Im not a fan of myskina..But,she deserved to won GS..beside luckyness, forehand backhand all good, speed and consistency also stable...dementieva also good player..just little bit lack of mental and unlucky..Glad she won gold medal olympic

Wooooahhhh Davenport had way more power on hers though.

Myskina has the prettiest eyes in the world!
That bagel 🫡
The rise of Myskina and the fall of Hingis
I'm down with that. I love Nastya so much.

Myskina was no joke
